Pros:I'm rating this on the fact we were given an updated room. Room was clean, new and plenty big enough for 2 adults, 12yr old and 5yr old. Can't beat the location and free parking! No resort fees no weird add ons... We will stay again and already planning next trip. We walked to dinner and lunch places everyday, tons of options close by.

Pros:It was a decent location with several restaurants in walking distance and of course the beach very near by. I was worried about parking when I saw the number of spots but we never had a problem finding an open spot.
Cons:Our room keys kept malfunctioning. The lady from the office said this happened quite often. The bathroom had no vent fan. Some of the staff was friendly but one of the men at the desk seemed annoyed that we needed to request something. At one point I was in the office and noticed they had left out several contracts for other guests which seems like a privacy concern.

Pros:Loved the location! Very close to the beach and near many delicious restaurants. There were also nice bars within walking distance that my friend and I (ages 24 & 25) had a great time at. The staff was friendly and rooms were neat and clean. Not too bad of a drive to downtown. Overall a great place!

Pros:It is a small hotel in a quiet area of a nice beach town, very short walk to one of the easiest beach accesses, and a beautiful view of the beach from the top of the cliff as well. It is also a short walk to numerous eateries and shops and the main street of Pacific Beach. We stayed in a queen deluxe room that has been partially renovated. It was very spacious, with high ceilings and pleasant decor. It was maintained adequately though showing signs of age and effects of the moist ocean environment. Very nice TV in beautiful piece of furniture that also has 3 large drawers for clothes, etc. Though not a complete breakfast, an assortment of high quality pastries was offered each a.m. along with several juices and teas; hot coffee was available throughout the day. The staff was wonderful - always cheerful, helpful and kept the grounds spotless throughout the day. Having covered parking was a plus as was the pool. When my aging mother injured her leg on our last day at the beach and could no longer walk upstairs, they found us a room on the lower level and helped us change rooms at 10 p.m. - we really appreciated their attentiveness to our needs. One building has front patios with round tables and chairs - nice feature if you are in that building, and pleasant to look at even if you're in the other building. It's just a pleasant, relaxing place to stay while enjoying the beach and surrounding San Diego area.
Cons:The rooms are a little quirky - no shower door or curtain and the 1/2 glass partition doesn't really contain the water so the bathroom floor gets wet. (Not a problem in the renovated rooms). The only outlet for the coffeepot puts it on a shelf above your head rather than on the counter - dangerous & inconvenient. One of our 2 rooms did not have a microwave, the other had a door missing off the lower storage cupboard. You have to ask for everything ... towels, washcloths, bath mats, coffee for the coffeemaker, etc. They are quick to provide what you need, but it can be a long walk to the office if you forget something or don't realize it's not there.

Pros:Was just at pacific shores inn at end of June 2014. This hotel turned out to be nicer than I had expected. Not a glamorous place but it's a beach town and the hotel has a beach shanty sort of feel. Room was clean & bathroom had been recently renovated and was very pretty. Ultimately the biggest plus is the proximity to the ocean. Literally half a block and you're there. Also some good restaurants and shopping within walking distance. I was there with my teenage and college aged children and they both said they'd come back here next year.

Pros:The staff members were very accommodating. They had run out of towels and promised to deliver them right away. They brought them and apologized for not having them when I first asked. There were muffins, pastries, and fresh coffee in the office each morning. The pool was very clean and mutt kids loved it. It was very close to the beach and waking distance to shops and places to eat. Staff suggested a few places to eat that turned out to be great.
Cons:People above us were kind of loud. The A/C was a little loud.
