Location was excellent. Breakfast was great. The rooms were simple, clean and comfortable with a great view of the bay
This Posada is a haven of elegance. From the street it is hard to tell the beautiful design inside, but once inside we felt embraced by its charm. It is decorated with excellent paintings, photographs, and carvings. Our room faced the street and had a balcony that overlooked a large swath of the city. We sat out there late at night and enjoyed the night breezes and looking down on Salvador's active nightlife. The room included a queen bed and two twins. It was spacious and comfortable for my wife and I and our two adult sons. The bathroom was large and well appointed, and the shower had separate handles for hot and cold water, which is not the case in many posadas. (In many posadas' showers there is a single handle to turn on the water and a small knob near the shower head that controls the water temperature by electric current that heats the pipe. Many are imprecise.) The water pressure was very good. At night, the overhead fan kept us comfortable without the need for air conditioning. The best surprise for us was the wonderful breakfast featuring a generous buffet spread of fruits, eggs, and warm fresh baked goods. We ate on a veranda overlooking the bay and got to see exotic birds and monkeys that inched close to us. The posada has a small, tasteful gift shop that is much better than crass hotel shops . The staff was helpful and courteous. It is a ten minute walk to the heart of old Salvador. All in all, I highly recommend.
Like a lot of posadas in old buildings in Brazil, there are a lot of stairs and no elevator. This was not a problem for my family, but it might be for someone with physical challenges or a family with toddlers. We climbed 40 steps to our room. Also, our room was split level and had three or four stairs between levels. We didn't mind. Also, the streets in old Salvador are very steep in places. That's just part of the charm of the place.
Beautiful ocean views from the room, extensive breakfast selection, and a good location in the central tourist area.
Unhelpful staff. Shower that barely worked with just a trickle of hot water when turned on at full blast.
Breakfast was truly outstanding. Even if you do not stay here, you must visit for breakfast: it was genuinely better than in most five star hotels and included an incredible array of fresh pastries made in house each day. The outside seating area (where you have breakfast) has amazing views of the sea and is a lovely place to chill out. Location-wise, it is a very short walk from the really central tourist area but feels safe. We had a non-sea view room, which was a bit of a shame but you get what you pay for. The room was very very spacious and comfy (albeit very hot without AC).
- The shared bathroom was incredibly hot and didn’t have any windows. - The staff were very helpful when we asked for info but there wasn’t a great deal of info on offer otherwise - No free purified water
This poussada is fabulous. The location is perfect in San Antonio, close to Cafélier and other awesome venues, walking distance to Pelourinho. The building itself is stunning, superb decoration. The food is amazing, we had breakfast and lunch there, mostly home cooked. Their is a nice family vibe.
This charming hotel can be found in Salvador da Bahia. Visitors will enjoy a peaceful and calm stay at Pousada do Boqueirao as it counts with a total of 10 bedrooms. Pets are not allowed at this hotel.
