Pros (+) The exterior of the hotel was very attractive. The room and bathroom were spacious and the bed was very comfortable.
Cons (-) The staff at the front desk was polite and helpful, although it was hard to hear him. We slept well in the large, comfortable bed, and enjoyed the spacious bathroom. The hotel was very quiet, even though there were two weddings in the ballroom while we were there. The decor from start to finish was unfortunate. Pros (+) I have always loved this building, and nice hotel rooms for less than $150/night are in short supply in downtown Sacramento. The Sterling gave us outstanding value for a spacious room with enormous Jacuzzi bathtub and beautiful four-poster bed in a gorgeous historic Victorian era home. Cons (-) There is on the street parking but it is metered with a two-hour limit after 8am or before 6pm Mon-Sat, so you will get a parking ticket if you sleep in.
