My wife and I have been stayingiat Van der Valk in Blijdorp on our annual trips to the Netherlands over the years and have always been very satisfied. Your staff is friendly and a special mention we like to make about the restaurant and management and staff. A special mention we like to make about manager Sait, but in fact all that we dealt with over the years in fact were/are exceptional. We enjoyed both the restaurant food and bar service and look forward to the our next trip.
The bar and bar (too high!) nor the bar stools (to heavy) are not very comfortable.

Location is very good if you are going to Blijdorp Zoo and has easy connection with Public Transport or Car. Room was quite big and nice. Check In was done quite fast. We had some kind staff in the bar and in the Restaurant but service could have been much better.
We never got a message that our room was going to be upgraded so I had to pay more at the end. Would have been nice to have gotten a mail informing beforehand. The restaurant on Saturday evening was a complete chaos. We asked in Reception if there was a need to book and they said it was a calm day but when we went to get a table there was no place for us. Then when we finally sat it took almost two hours and a half with a child to be served thoroughly and correctly. Next day we went to have breakfast at 10:45 and the waitress was very rude informing that we only had 10 min to eat. I believe that is a choice of each person to come to eat breakfast before the deadline and the person is aware of the time they choose. No need to be scolded about it. The room needs a bit of upgrade.
