Great location in the city center, super friendly staff!
It was raining heavily and water was flooding the entrance. But help came fast and everything was back to normal the next day.
The hotel is incorporated in a perfectly refurbished building in the old Hanseatic style, strategically located on a side alley of Kröpelinerstraße in the heart of Rostock Old Town. The room at the third floor was large enough with a comfortable bed and good wifi connection.
The charm of the façade is lost when entering the building, as the interior design is modern, but cheap and not very pleasant. The room features a closet-size bathroom, so cramped to be difficult to use with the door closed. The windows have no blinds, which can make sleeping problematic (for some) in east-facing rooms when the sun rises at 4:30am. Unfortunately the view from the rooms facing the rear of the building is terrible. There is no elevator, which can be a setback for some in a 4-storeys hotel. The reception is located in a different building, which can be unpractical, especially when arriving by car. Moreover the hotel does not provide private parking and the closest solutions are quite expensive.
My small comfortable room was ideal for one person like me. I was late for my train so didn't have really a lot of money with me but I could afford this hotel. It was clean, with wi-fi and hairdryer.
The reception is in another building and closes rather early (21.00). Maybe windows are too close to the wndows of the opposite building but that's not a big problem.
Good place overall, nice option for breakfast included as well. Also liked the possibility to send a invoice to my institute instead of paying for myself during the stay.
Bed a bit too small for my size and weirdly wobbly at the edges, even further reducing the effective bed size.
Stadthotel Aalreuse is located in Rostock city centre. It provides free WiFi and also offers underground garage parking for an additional fee. The hotel offers small rooms, and there is no access via lift/elevator. Food is served in the Steakhaus Leon’s (steakhouse) and in the Hopfenkeller (vaulted cellar), that are both beautifully located in the inner courtyard of the Hopfenmarkt square. The hotel reception is also on this square, 2 side streets away from the hotel. Warnemünde is 9 km from Hotel Aalreuse, while Kühlungsborn is 26 km away. Laage Airport is 21 km from the property.
