Very nice neighbourhood, not only tourists but local people as well, yet safe and friendly. Great seaview from the balcony, nice chill out vibes.
Very uncomfortable beds, staff does not speak English (apart from 1 person) so it is hard to get any advices or hints, rather expensive considering the standard, the bathroom in the room has not been cleaned for 4 days, apart from lockers there are not many facilities in the room (no reading lights, shelves etc)
Stayed at Babilonia Rio Hostel for 6 nights around the New Year Period - the staff were very friendly and very accommodating. They provide a very simple but fresh/delicious breakfast (additional cost - but on par if not cheaper than standard breakfast costs in Rio De Janeiro). The location is okay in terms of proximity to Copacabana beach and is easily walkable in terms of distance - but it is up quite a very steep hill, with narrow streets making it difficult for vehicles to navigate. Case in point our Uber Drivers always had to pick us up closer to the entrance (not far 1min from the Hostel). There is a Police Box less than 1 minute walk away if that makes any difference. We stayed in a private room 1 x Double and 1 x Bunk Bed (2 Single). The room very clean when we arrived, and the facilties were decent. There was a mini-fridge in our room for personal use.
The shower head pointed in a direction that made it awkward to shower, but not unusable. The location / streets that lead to the hostel were not the most convenient for vehicles - but okay if you didn't mind walking. Steep windy narrow road that only allowed cars to pass in one direction (is wide enough for 2 cars - but every body parks to one side). The area its;f felt like a favela and was loud with bars rocking on late into the night (good thing or bad thing) depending on what kind of experience your after.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Located close to Copacabana beach but on the top of a very steep hill, however they do have taxi bikes that can take you to the top for a small price. The view of the beach and sea was lovely from the terrace.
The double room we had was very basic but view was nice
Staff was nice, breakfast in the morning with nice view.Good value for money.
The 3 floors bed system. Wrong ladder position. You practically don't have any space even to sit on your bed.Location in Babilonia favela is very high.Need to climb hard.
First room was ok. Kitchen is good (although no oil etc) and breakfast is ok for R$10. Location is good for Copacabana but up a super steep hill that Ubers won't drive up. Felt safe once you got used to the area.
We had to move rooms, our second room the shower head was broken so the bathroom flooded every time. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed ever!!! Springs in the back, awful nights sleep. Also the bathroom smelt. Bit annoying you can't drink your own beer in the communal area. Overall, wouldn't recommend.
