Pros: The location can't be beat! Easy access by bus, tram and mere minutes from main train station in Basel. They provide you a local travel card good for buses, trams and ferries plus discounted e-bicycle rental and other discounts for local attractions. The accommodations are stylish, well furnished and pleasing to the eye. Many small perks usually reserved for very high end properties but smartly planned and larger than most European hotels. The area is safe, scenic and at the entrance (Spalentor is the GATE of the medieval city) to Old Town, the Botanical center and within the university and medical centers

Pros: This hotel is very conveniently located right next to the Basel train station and major tram hub, making it an ideal base to explore the city. The staff was absolutely fantastic, very welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was sumptuous. Truly a great place to stay!
Cons: There was some street construction in front of the hotel at the time of my visit, making it confusing to find how to access the property. But that wasn't the hotel's fault! To the contrary, they even provided earplugs in case guests were disturbed by the construction noise (I personally wasn't disturbed at all).

The hotel was amazingly generous with coffee, wine and snacks available throughout the day and evening. I also had free access to a computer and internet and a quiet place to settle in and work near the coffee, wine and snacks. A variety of international newspapers and magazines were available as well. Within just a few hundred yards I found the Marketplace, filled with shops, restaurants, and an art museum with an impressive collection of impressionist paintings (my favorite) was also just a 10 minute walk away. Did I mention there was free coffee, wine and snacks?

Free drinks were offered at arrival and one each day of our stay. Free Basel Card allowed us unlimited use of the local transport and discounts at all museums which saved us money. Staff was very helpful, The garden was a delightful place to have a drink.
Cons: There was not much we didn't like. They had some problems with the elevator on a couple days but they offered us free drinks to compensate so we didn't mind. They got the problem fixed soon enough.

Cons: Too small. Staff was kinda rude in checkout process. Woke up a little late but rushed us out of our room like cattle.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: I used the offer of the spa included in the hotel. I booked a 25 minutes Shiatsu massage (the first I ever had) which I enjoyed so much that I could - spontaneously - elongate to 50 minutes. The masseur was marvellous and I we had a nice talk after it. He gave me some interesting pointers on my special interests in relation with my business.
Cons: the only very very little (and really NOT important) I thing may have liked would have been cream cheese on the breakfasts buffet.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Food. Breakfast selection. Chocolate.
Cons: Bed too hard and too short.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff at GAIA are wonderful, friendly people who genuinely care about making your stay comfortable and happy. They attended to our two requests promptly and cheerfully. The breakfast buffet is comprehensive, fresh and delicious and served in a beautiful room. Our room was well equipped with comfortable bedding and lovely toiletries. The free mini bar, restocked daily with a variety of treats, is a generous gesture. The location is great. We loved our three nights at Gaia Hotel and would recommend it unreservedly.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Great location and exceptional coffee and breakfast...
Cons: My room backed onto an alley way that trucks were parked in at 5.30am with engines idling. Not the hotel's fault at all but if you need sleep best to check where your room is located.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: From check-in to leaving, an excellent experience. Hotel is literally across the street from the train station. It's a nice walk to the old town area and the river. And a quick trolly ride back with the included free town pass. Room was large and well equipped. Bath was spotless, well-equipped and with large walk-in shower. Included breakfast was delicious and offered good variety served in beautiful dining room.
Cons: Nothing. This hotel was great.

Pros: The Hyperion is perfectly situated within easy walking distance of the Basel SBB, and with nos 2 and 6 trams stopping right outside the front door of the hotel, to transport you to all parts of the city centre. Alternatively it is an easy walk to most central places of interest. The breakfast choice was excellent (especially the really good chef who makes omelettes to order). 9,6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great! Many thanks!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and modern decor. Excellent location just a couple of tram stops from the main touring sites. Complementary minibar and Basel card was a nice touch. Breakfast is as good as they say, worthwhile having it there.
Cons: The room is a bit small for our liking, however, we did not spend too much time there so it was okay for one night stay.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Nice floor to ceiling windows for view. The view itself not so impressive (an enormous warehouse or something is in front of you) but it has a nice feeling generally. Value for money, especially if you consider that it is Switzerland, but also generally, for what it is 100 euros is nothing. Beds comfortable, nice lobby, not so far from the centre (like 10-12 mins walk)
Cons: Bigger rooms but not so much of a problem really
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Great location! People at the reception with a service orientation. Nice customer service approach. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable.
Cons: Prices in certain times are simply too high. I understand there are events in Messeplatz but prices can go to more than double and that's not nice.

Pros: Very modern
Cons: Not much to do around there

Pros: The staff were incredible. A group of us took a river cruise together. Only 4 of us (2 rooms) were staying at the hotel with others departing at various times during the day. The hotel staff stored the luggage onsite for us. This was so helpful and incredible service. We appreciated it so much. This hotel went above and beyond.

Pros: Clean room and warm colorful atmosphere. The furniture layout is very conenient and feels modrern despie the old style feel of the building. The bed was very comfortable!

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Great spot for exploring Basel. The outdoor restaurant was obviously popular, but we only had a drink there. The breakfast was fantastic.
Cons: Bath gel but no bar of soap in the bathroom. Never saw any indication of a health club, but I jogged along the river, so it was fine.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Older building with charm and modern amenities. Hot shower with great water pressure. Comfortable bed and convenient to the old town and the tram for connection to the SBB for travel almost anywhere in Europe.
Cons: A/C works but is not up to US standards. It’s in the 90s now and the room A/C struggles to get belo 80. Better than many places I’ve stayed in Europe but....

Cons: Hotel was in a good location, but along a busy street. No air conditioning meant we had to keep the windows open and listen to traffic. Recommend asking for a room with garden view. 20 CHF for breakfast is steep but everything is just expensive in Basel.

Pros: Firstly, be careful parking outside to check in as some spots are all night and others are very short term. Wardens were about. Check in was smooth and the advice we were given regarding a good restaurant to eat at was excellent. The room was very clean and fans were readily available to help cool it down as it was warm when we visited. Beds very comfortable. The hotel is very well located for walking into the older part of the town. Which is a very clean lovely town and we will revisit when we stop over again to experience more of it.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Clean, modern hotel close to tram stop at Wettsteinplatz. Great breakfast with plenty of choices.
Cons: -

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Love the location - close to grocery store and walking path and work.
Cons: Room was a little warm - breakfast is not complimentary.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were extremely helpful; the rooms were comfortable; there was a lot choice for breakfast, catering for different tastes/needs including gluten-free options (although we could never quite get the coffee machine to produce decent decaf). Free hot and cold drinks in the lobby were very welcome. It's very close to a bus route (which was ideal for us as we were visiting relatives, but it's not particularly close to the centre of Basel).
Cons: There are not many places to eat locally, just a steak restaurant associated with the hotel and a couple of fast-food places in the shopping centre next door.
6,3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: I was not informed of building works prior to booking
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable, spacious room, friendly and helpful staff. We appreciated the little extras such as free still and sparkling mineral water, and a range of hot drinks available in the lobby. Very easy to get into and all over the city using buses and trams - the timetable is at each stop.
Cons: Nothing
8,8 Excellent
Pros: - Extremely welcoming and helpful staff, ready to help at any time - Spacious, clean and bright rooms, with good climatisation. Good-sized bathroom. - Parking just underneath the hotel is an added value - Late breakfast (until 12 noon during the weekend) with a good variety of options - Complimentary public transport card provided at checkin - Free coffee available at reception around the clock
Cons: - To purchase minibar items, one must go to the reception and ask staff. However, on a positive note, this is possible at any time.

Pros: The hotel was close to the center. We get a card to use the public transport, and we reached the the old town in 15 minutes. Rooms were very tidy and nice. The free coffee corner at the reception was a nice surprise with various choices. The drinks were good in the hotel's bar too. The staff was very helpful. So everything was perfect.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Clean and family friendly rooms
Cons: Cost of breakfast is far to high. When travelling you want a fairly small breakfast and children over 12 should be charged half price until 16.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: rooms were spacious and so Inviting. we loved the amenities and the services they provided
Cons: I wish the breakfast was included. the Express breakfast was a bit pricey for what was offered

10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was like home. The host was very kind and informative.
6,7 Good
Pros: Location was good. Room size was good.
Cons: Room smelled moldy. Only one small window could be opened. Very noisy when other guests use common areas.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Host very polite and lovely, the room very nice and simple , everything is well done!!! Super
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Informative host
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The Rhine and the city center is easy to reach, quiet, surrounded by a garden. The owner explains whatever you need to know about the city and gives you a map, and a Basel card, so traveling is easy. You also find brochures about museums. There is a coffee machine, nespresso capsulas, electric kettle and tea available.
Cons: There was no internet. In my room there was only a door to the garden (no window) so if you want to have fresh air during the night you need to open the door either to the garden or to the hall. Which was OK for me because I shared the ground floor with a quiet person.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Christian was very nice and gave all necessary information. Very helpful and the room was perfect.
Cons: Unfortunately I got there really late and did not enjoy the city
10,0 Excellent

Pros: Clean, modern, good location, good facilities, fantastic host with lots of information, good kitchen facilities with free coffee and tea, comfy beds and a quiet location
Cons: No complaints other than i couldn't find the doorbell but that might have been my mistake, but owner responded to my email and met me very quickly to ensure my entry
9,6 Excellent
Pros: This B&B consists of only two rooms on the ground floor of a private house, but everything is brand new, there is a kitchen and a shower unit and overall the place looks great. A city card for free travel on the public transport is provided, Wi-Fi is fast and stable.
Cons: Because there is no formal check-in, you really need to inform your arrival time in advance.

Pros: A simple clean stay. Adriana is very friendly and warm. Breakfast was more than sufficient and the rooms were comfortable and bright. Would recommend a stay here.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location easy walking distance from everywhere I wanted to go and very close to all transport. Bed was comfortable and shower was great. Adriana was very friendly, helpful and welcoming...perfect host. The room was stylishly minimal and the house is great with a roof terrace. Plenty of breakfast choices to help yourself to.
Cons: No complaints
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The best part about the B&B was definitely Adriana. Her commitment to making sure everyone had a comfortable stay was evident in the way she was looking after the accommodation and guests. My stay was 2 nights and 3 days and had to travel to different cities on 2 days.. it's proximity to direct tram and bus line to main train station made me feel like a local who knew the city transport like a pro! Best part was that the city centre was only 10 minutes walk and the route from B&B to centre was very enjoyable as it included some of city landmarks like Spalentor, main square, etc. Well kept and clean place, toilets were nice (shared but always available). Would definitely stay here again. The room is basic size but it was fine for me as I was alone.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Balcony, kitchen and room! I had such a good stay.
Cons: None!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Well located B&B, 3 min walking from the bus line driving directly to the airport. Nice room in an old house with a large area for breakfast, and a roof terrace on the back. The bathroom is to share, but 2 bathrooms for 3 bedrooms is fine.

Pros: The host. Location near the tram. The breakfast.

6,3 Good
Pros: Rooms are clean and the location is relatively close to the center (10min walk) and in a nice neighborhood.
Cons: There was construction on site (new building right outside my window) with very loud noises starting at 7AM.
7,9 Good
Pros: Hotel is very close to old city and downtown , just 5 min distance by foot. Breakfast was quite satisfy and the ladies that worked at the breakfast area were so polite and in good mood. Singe room was small but nice and cozy
Cons: Receptionists had strict behavior with the quests. I can understand that might be a typical German or Swiss behavior but when someone is working at the reception should know some basic rules of social behavior such as to say a "hello"!! Room was clean but the linen after 3 nights wasn't changed.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: It was clean and tidy. A lot of light. Really nice.
Cons: One of the elevators wasn’t working.
8,3 Excellent
Cons: The room was extremely hot...no air conditioning and the outside temp was 100 degrees.
6,3 Good
Pros: The location was terrific. Easy access to trams that got us everywhere in the city we wanted to go. Wonderful restaurants in the vicinity too. Especially the Harmonie, just a few blocks away. . However, the hotel website was totally misleading. This is a former mission training center. It is transitioning into becoming a hotel, alongside its first purpose. (We ourselves are active church members and have no problem with mission training centers, but we did not expect to stay in one. ) The website showcased the hotel‘s lovely garden and that was a real draw for us. The garden, however, was completely torn up because of the restaurant renovation. We had drinks amidst the weeds that remained. The hotel furnishings were mediocre and banal. We had to stuff the traditional Swiss duvet into its cover. Normally, this is done before the guests arrive. It is not an easy task. Finally, the whole place smelled of institutional disinfectant.
Cons: We are sorry to have to leave such a negative review. The website should have been clearer about the hotel’s transitional stage. On the other hand, we loved Basel!!!!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel in a beautiful historical building with a big, serene garden, very conveniently located in a calm but central area of Basel. Our room was spacious, comfortable, clean and very quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: There was only one cushion per person, but we got more when we asked, so no complains here!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so helpful and getting to know them was so nice. The breakfast was excellent and great value for money, as most restaurants and eating out is very expensive.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Incredible hotel and staff. I have very much enjoyed my stay there. Very reasonable price for what I got. Nice room, staff, and breakfast. Amazing location which is near to public transportation. Would greatly recommend it.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Super clean and next to the old town.
Cons: Only one very soft pillow. A bit too soft. The mattress was very soft too

5,0 Okay
Pros: The hotel is very clean but very clinical.
Cons: I booked a twin room but on arrival was allocated a double. When I spoke to the manager he was disinterested, said he could not help me as all the rooms were booked and just stood and stared at me. He also advised that I book directly with the hotel in future. The hotel always appeared empty as did the restaurant and facilities. I would not stay at this hotel again, it has no personality.

Pros: Friendly staff even too professional! Prime location and reasonably priced for Switzerland, definitely a good booking for Basel.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent and convenient. All in the hotel are good with a very good atmosphere in each corner.
Cons: Breakfast with fewer choices and less-experienced waiter. Half of the tables are reserved but no one shows up every morning.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We had long stay and were very appreciative to receive a room upgrade without request. We booked an economy and were upgraded to de-luxe which was lovely and roomy with a beautiful bathroom. Overall it was a lovely hotel with perfect location near railway station and trams. Breakfast staff friendly and helpful.
Cons: Only small disappointment was the overdone bacon every morning. So crispy the fork could not be used on them. Perhaps that's the local custom - not sure. When mentioned if less burnt bacon could be served - some slight improvement but still unfortunately overcooked.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: V nice hotel. Perfect position
Cons: The breakfast scrambled egg was hard!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and elegant hotel with superb breakfast included. We needed to stay near the station but it was very easy to get to the center of Basel with the free travel pass provided by the reception staff. Staff were very nice and helpful. Super comfortable bed and a coffee machine in the room.

Pros: Biggest problem with breakfast is the slowness of refilling items and in some cases never refilling empty spots.
Cons: With an hour left for breakfast, several items were completely gone and never saw a refill, pastries and milk where two that I saw.
6,7 Good
Pros: The location is two minutes from the main station and from the bus stop to/from the airport. That is quite convenient.
Cons: The carpet in the room is old and not very clean. The floor is squeaky. The view at the back of the hotel is ugly.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Cute hotel and really easy to get to from the train station. Easy walk to all the major sights. We were there for only a short time period but just walked over to the zoo and then we went to the papermill museum - which by the way is fantastic, seriously one of the best museums i have been to. The breakfasts were great and my kid was free - we could choose from a variety of hot or cold items (although she did break into the mini-bar and ate a $5 can of pringles in 3 minutes without realizing how much the minibar items cost - last time i leave her alone to go ask the front desk staff a question).
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location, nice big room, happy staff, just right.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Location, pretty close to the central area and the main train station spacious, clean and quiet room front desk staff very kind and helpful
Cons: N/A
4,6 Okay
Pros: The location. It's a very modern room the rooms are very large and they have nice views. If you want to lay in bed and have a shower dance perfect for you... monster the shower in the toilet or viewable from the bed. It's a little weird. I would have put a solid wall there for the shower and bathroom privacy
Cons: It's 90° outside and the hotel is supposed to have air conditioning. They do they just don't turn it on. Our first night here we check into the room and the temperature is 28 Celsius at 8 at night. So we finally made them change rooms for us otherwise we were going to check out and find another room. Then the next day we leave our key in the designated slot to activate the air conditioner and when we come home after a full day touring another city hoping for a nice cool room since we left our air conditioner on. We arrive and find that they took the key out of the slot that kept the air conditioner on and turned off our air conditioner for the entire day. If you're looking for a nice cool room with air conditioning during a summer visit do not stay here. It's hot hot hot and the AC is not not not available for you. The beds are very hard. The one thing I would say is that the location is excellent. The hotel is actually very nice they just can't seem to cool down the rooms
5,4 Okay
Cons: We had to leave earlier ( unforeseen circumstances) Paid for 9 nights upfront. Only stayed for 3 nights. The staff were utterly rude and unhelpful !!!!! Lost all our money!!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice, clean hotel close to the center and also the bus/train stations. Room very clean and quiet. Fully airconditioned, wonderful shower room and great gym!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: I loved the value for the hotel - for a very reasonable rate, I was able to get a loft/suite, which included a mini-kitchen. This was so helpful considering my extended stay for work. I also loved the location, close to multitude of restaurants, shops and nightlife, it can't be beaten. Finally, the gym is very well equipped, with modern fitness equipment, which is a high priority for me. Staff was also very friendly and helpful during my stay.
Cons: While many staff members were well-informed, polite, and helpful, there were a minority who were not.
10,0 Excellent
