Great value for the money and great location.
It caters for school trips.
This was my third stay at Santa Cruz. While the hotel is situated several kilometers from the ski slopes, it offers bus transportation to and from the slopes for a token fee. This hotel is much reasonably priced than the hotels at the base of the slopes. The rooms are spacious enough and comfortable enough. The meal set-up is buffet type and the food is plentiful.
The hotel caters to large groups of school children who are pretty noisy at meal times. There is no ski-storage room at the hotel.
I have used this hotel for my ski ing trips to Spain's Sierra Nevada mountains for over twenty years. I think that in itself says enough but in recent years I have seen an improvement in the hotels restaurant and bar. I generally stay half board and the food selection for both breakfast and dinner is far more varied than it used to be and the facilities in the spacious bar are much improved. I chose this time to stay in one of the hotels cabins rather than in a hotel room. I can thoroughly recommend this as each of the stone built cabins has an open fireplace enabling you to light an open fire, firewood provided free, in the evening which is very cosy and atmospheric. In the hotel you are able to book ski lessons and hire ski equipment, which is much more convenient in my opinion, than doing it in the ski village. The company is called Granada Aventura and I hired equipment for my grandchildren there. Mario is the name of the gentleman organising the equipment rental and I found him extremely helpful. He also arranged ski lessons for them with one of their instructors named Louis who was absolutely excellent.
The free WiFi leaves a lot to be desired. I found it very slow and at times non existent.
Simple and easy to find, rooms were lovely and warm
No hot water, but I think it was the time of day when everyone had returned from Skiing
A bit "run down" needs to be renovated.
