Overview

In the centre of Plauen, the Best Western Hotel Am Strassberger Tor, Plauen, Germany, is a central hotel with comfortable rooms and free Wi-Fi in the capital of the Vogtland, an easy base for exploring the city and the surrounding countryside. The city centre and its shops lie close by, with the hills and rivers of the Vogtland within easy reach. The Czech border and its spa towns are a short drive south through wooded hills. Plauen is the capital of Vogtland in the far south-west of Saxony, a town that made its name with delicate Plauen lace. Its fine openwork lace once dazzled at world fairs and is still made and shown in the town, ornate old facades recall that prosperous era, and the wooded hills, dams and river valleys of Vogtland roll out all around. Nearby the great Goltzsch viaduct, the largest brick bridge in the world, spans its valley.
