Noisy tubes, dirty floors, windy windows, chairless room
The best thing was the location, very close to everything
The floor in our room was sticky, and the shared bathroom was permanently dirty. It was also very difficult to sleep, as the room was extremely hot and we had to turn on an aircon which made so much noise.
Have stayed here several times before. Very bare bones and basic, which works for me because I'm too busy enjoying NYC when I visit. I just need a place to sleep and shower. There is a fridge in the room, so I usually buy stuff to eat/drink and keep it there. The location is perfect and also safe at night.
The heaters are old and clank quite loud when they turn on. I got used to it. but I can see how this might be an issue for some.
I do like my room and bathroom those are really clean.
The hostel are confortable, but l just don't like of front desk of night shift she treat me really disrespectful just because l came down to say my door doesn't open with my key l came the first time she treat me good l was at 4 floor and when happen my door doesn't open l have to came down be at line waiting she attend all people do checking to open my door okay. I was waiting but at second time happen with me at same day she treat me bad she told me no her faut my door doesn't open and told me to l waiting at line until she finished all cheking and she was really rude and she correct me at front everyone was at line she say to me at here no hotel are hostel and l told her no matter call but l did pay and no should every time my key doesn't work l be waiting at long line and she disrespect me and told me she don't care because no her fault are the hostel faut .So the hostel are really comfortable but with a kind fronk desk like that l never return again l m sorry!!!
Location was EXCELLENT, with easy access to restaurants, buses and subway, shopping and recreation. Fitness room looked very good, though I never got to use it. Some of the staff were friendly.
I think the cleaners did a good job coming everyday; they probably should also pay a little more attention to the floors, which were often ignored for the bed and replacement of towel and emptying the trash. I also think some of the front office staff should smile a little; it costs nothing!
There are some great hotels in New York, and when travelers come across one, they praise it. What many travelers don’t know is that there is a great hotel in the Vanderbilt YMCA. The rooms here are much like hostels, but they do have all of the comforts of home. This hotel is a little-known place for guests to stay and no one would even know just how grand the rooms are here. When guests check in, they have access to the pool, fitness center, sauna, steam room and shower, and group exercise classes. There are also vending machines here, and guests can enjoy the non-smoking property.
The rooms here can be single or private rooms, and they all offer WiFi, 24-hour reception, air conditioning, climate control, housekeeping, flat screen television with local channels, and mini fridge. The rooms do have a dorm type feel to them, but with these accommodations, guests will feel like they are in a luxury hotel.
When visiting New York, travelers need to get the most for their money. That is why choosing to stay at the Vanderbilt YMCA is a great idea! It is not as costly as the other hotels in the area, and with the money saved, guests can spend it on exploring, eating, and shopping. Nearby guests will find Grand Central Terminal, Times Square, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, 5th Avenue Shopping, Murray Hill, Shake Shack, Oyster Bar, Bryant Park, Radio City Music Hall, and Duane Reade Pharmacy.
