Pros: Do NOT use booking.com for this. They don't give you a reservation, just a spot on the waiting list for reservations, AND fail to warn you about it.
The hostel was fine, just needed to pass along the warning.

Pros: My husband and I stayed here for 1 night Hotel is in a good location -it is very close to the lake, Freddy Mercury statue and casino. There is a bus stop across the street from the hotel which takes you directly to the Chillon Castle-a definite must see. Our room was very spacious, clean and well decorated. The hotel is old but quaint. Staff/front desk is very polite and helpful and provided lunch suggestions.

The historical, family-run Splendid hotel in Montreux was built in 1904 and offers panoramic views over Lake Geneva and free Wi-Fi in all of the spacious rooms. Rooms at the Splendid hotel come with a flat-screen TV with cable channels and contain a private bathroom. Some units have a lake view and come their own terrace or balcony. Delicious Swiss and international cuisine is served in the restaurant and the café is a cosy place to relax. The Splendid hotel is Montreux's only 3-star hotel on the lakeside. It occupies a historic building and therefore does not feature air conditioning. The Freddy Mercury Memorial Statue is 300 metres away. The conference centre and the train station are close by. Free local public transport is provided when staying at Hotel Splendid.

Pros: My friend and I came in late afternoon overheated and frustrated as we had been on the train since 6:30 AM and were exhausted. Yvan, who was at the front desk, calmed us down, helped us with our luggage, and then sent up two glasses of wine for us. He suggested a wonderful restaurant that evening, and kept our luggage the next day while we toured around. I asked about making a long distance call to my daughter in France and he said Benny would help me with that as he wouldn't be there. The next day when I went down and asked Benny about it, Benny made the call for me on his cell phone and said there was no charge. The staff made me feel like I was staying with family as they were so accommodating. I will gladly stay there again.
