Montevideo Hostels

Pros: Super friendly staff, backyard great for hanging out and meeting other travelers.

Cons: Quite far away from ciudad vieja

Pros: Excellent staff, great outdoor place, well situated, clean, good breakfast.

Pros: This was my second stay at this hostel after a one week roadtrip in Uruguay and still had a perfect stay. Rooms and bathrooms clean. Full Breakfast. The hostel grew up with a new nice backyard room but still the same quiet atmosphere. The asado for New Year's Eve was awesome. Owners are trully easygoing, full of advices and accommodating. As well as the staff in place. Happy encounter. I totally recommend this hostel.

Pros: The name of this hostel seems to refer to the thumping music you'll feel from the night club next door all night. Great if you are out to party, not so great if you just want to sleep. Staff were very nice and the free coffee was decent.

Cons: The design of the dorm beds makes it impossible not to hit your head on a sharp edge every time you move.

Pros: the location close from the beach and parque rodó.

Cons: I slept in the dorm with window towards the garden. it was a bit loud because people would hang out in that common place until late.

Pros: There is a nice garden although I couldn’t benefit from it due to bad weather. Kitchen is quite big and has basic I ingredients.

Cons: I was given a room next to the reception, which was unfortunately impossible to sleep in. First, the people who work at the hostel sleep there too according to availability of beds, which means they get up for their shifts and/or pack and move their things at random times of the night. Second, the common area was occupied until 3 in the morning by a group of men who paid no attention to respect the quiet time and made it impossible to sleep even with headphones on. I believe the receptionist tried to calm them but to no avail. Lastly, there is a TV in the common area that is constantly on, and on which people usually play football, if you’re looking for a chill quiet atmosphere this is probably not your ideal hostel.

Pros: Staff was kind and helpful! They answered all of my questions (and I had a lot of those!) with patience. Thanks Negro, you are the best!

Cons: It was a bit cold in the rooms and common spaces, during daytime. I believe they could perhaps warm up the place a bit :)

Pros: Comfortable bed, nice hot shower, breakfast was great. Great to be able to watch some English movies We wanted to like this place more - a few things let it down.

Cons: The vibe. We felt the staff treated the hostel like a share house - cooking and banging pots at 2am, dishes washed but constantly piled & not put away. We accidentally didn’t put our name on something in the fridge, the very next day the staff were cooking with it.

Cons: The noise, very loud music at the reception and in the backyard until 4:30 in the morning.

Pros: Location and staff.

Cons: The room was a basement and mattress and pillow were quite creepy. Door closed with a locker: not safe in case of a emergency.

Pros: The staff was always friendly and caring. The location near the bus station can be of advantage if you need to catch an early bus.

Cons: Nice staff, but unfortunately very dirty and noisy hostel. For the same money you get much better accommodation in Montevideo.

Pros: It is a good place. Very close to bus terminal which was the main reason I took it and served me well, with bus stops nearby to access Pocitos, Ciudad viejo and La rambla also! Rooms were clean, staff was good. Nice place overall!

Pros: The only positive was that it was within walking distance of the bus terminal. I stayed for one night in order to catch an early morning bus. Otherwise, there are a hundred better hostels to stay in Montevideo.

Cons: The hostel was awful. The staff placed me in a female dorm even though I had specifically booked a mixed room. The staff take zero interest in the guests. The hostel has ZERO vibe. There are no common areas, the kitchen is small, and it is impossible to relax anywhere other than in the room. The 8 person dorm had one bathroom which was all in one room which made going to the shower or quickly brushing your teeth almost impossible. Also the room had these powerful air freshners which were so stong I struggled to breathe at times. Do not waste your trip to Montevideo staying here.

Cons: There was zero hostel vibe going on here. Internet was bad and didn't reach the dormroom

Pros: I liked almost everything about CLH Montevideo, the bed, location, bath.

Cons: The WiFi inside of rooms sometimes doesn’t work.

Pros: Location was great.-

Cons: The reservation was for one of our guests to a conference, we have fully prepaid the booking before his arrival thru this website, an employee of the hostel ask our guest to pay it he says it wasn't paid but it was. So booking was paid twice, finally money was given back to guest, but it was a really bad experience .

Pros: The staff was amazing, he helped us a lot.

Cons: The kitchen wasn't like in the photos at all. There was only one electric stove to cook with and it was in a bad condition. So for me there was no kitchen at all. I needed to buy food all the time.

Pros: The private rooms are big, clean and the A/C was brilliant. The location is ok. Not in the centre, but by bus (the station is just in front of the hostel) you'll be in the old town within 5-10 mins.

Cons: The kitchen is not really equipped for cooking and the breakfast was ok, not great. The toaster was broken and you can't use the kitchen during breakfast time.
