The balcony in the room that let’s you listen to the breeze of the forest
Beautiful balcony and nice restaurant to watch the sunsets. Really good microbrewery on site!
Breakfast wasn't included. I thought it was. The decor is a LOT of wood.
Awesome Location with a great staff!
Farm to Table restaurant is great. Though would be nice to include a breakfast at least. Got a great B&B cabin feel, walk out to the balcony and teleport into Costa Rica's famous cloud forest. Get up early in the morning and catch all the birds waking up and do what they do best.
Cleaning could be a bit more meticulous. It's nice place for a romantic spot. Thought it is on the higher spectrum of price point for attempting to maintain the boutique aspect. Being it the off-season there is some extra's to be longing for. I'm glad I didn't run into any of the "snobs" this place could possibly attract. Though always go in with minimal expectation and go with your gut feeling. Pura Vida!
Hotel Belmar was unique and had a very cozy feel. We were upgraded to the Sunrise Room. This was a great room that provided fantastic views of the mountains and valley. The staff were very friendly and were able to quickly help. One of the highlights was the food. The menu is farm to table and showcases the Hotel's own farm. Every meal was very good. The Hotel also has a great brewery. I tried their 3 regular beers (Pale Ale, IPA and Tropical Stout) as well as their season Kolsch. These were excellent and really demonstrated their local ingredients and styles.
We were on the top floor of the chalet building and it was quite windy our entire stay. It was noisy due to this and the building would shake a little. Not the Hotel's fault, but something to be aware of. The other thing that was an issue, but out of control of the Hotel itself was the entitled guests. I was embarrassed by the other US tourists which included inattentive mother indulging in selfies in the jacuzzi while her unruly children splashed around and were terrible, another that started an argument with the restaurant staff about their destruction of the earth because they served meat on the menu (Note Hotel Belmar runs a sustainable farm to table and are part of the solution) and finally the people complaining that the wine by the glass was not the one they wanted. The Hotel and the staff handled all these people with grace but I wish other US tourists would act like the guests they are in other countries.
