Pros (+) Excellent Location on Main Street and close to Ocean. No TV, but great period decor throughout. Great food and service. Plenty to do for couple of days without driving anywhere. Definitely worth a visit!!
Cons (-) The mattress (room 7) was terrible...maybe as old as the hotel itself. This was such a negative; almost ruined the trip for us. Told front desk person, but she never made a note of my comment or apologized.

Pros (+) The staff was outstanding--friendly, cheerful, helpful. Right in town and across the street from trails through oceanfront headlands. We spent lots of time hanging out in the Victorian lobby with beautiful views of the ocean.
Cons (-) Cleaning was mediocre. Hall carpets needed vacuuming as did under the bed.

Cons (-) Didn't know that we were staying in building behind the hotel, the building was not well marked (only on the door) and keys had wrong number on the tag. Confusing.

Pros (+) I loved the Victorian decor, staying there was like travelling back through time. The bar/lounge in the downstairs is the perfect place to hang out for a night cap although the bar closes at 9:30PM. There is a great balcony you can bring a glass of wine up to and chill out while enjoying the ocean view. Would definitely stay here again when we visit Mendecino.

Pros (+) The fireplace and casual, quiet lobby area are without compare. Ideal place to spend time with your loved one drinking wine and playing cards or whatever. The upstairs deck serves the same purpose. It's old. It's beautiful. The food and staff are wonderful.
Cons (-) Bathroom down the hall ... less than ideal. Rooms are small.
