Luxury at a Great Price!
The room was a nice size, the bed was comfortable and the free wet bar came in handy. Beautiful decor and loved the double window/terraces...made the room feel romantic, bright and quaint.
Excellent Location and Atmosphere
Great location. Large, clean rooms. Daniel, our waiter and new friend, was outstanding in the sidewalk café and bar. Incredibly friendly and entertaining. The rest of the world needs to take a lesson on how to pour a drink.
Not much. We did have to pull up on the "sidewalk" road, in front of the hotel, to have them take the car to park. However, this is quite common when staying in the larger cities in Spain.
Great location
The hotel was in a walking distance to most major touristy locations. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Although it is an old hotel, and rooms are somewhat small, latest renovations in rooms are impressive. Breakfast was not included, which allowed us to eat in a nice place across the street. It saved us from overeating and overspending:)) but if you don't mind 17 euro for breakfast - food selection there is great. Many Cab drivers in Madrid are not honest. Hotel staff got us an amazing reliable driver, who we used throughout our stay. (Her name is Beatriz. She only speaks Spanish. But she is punctual and honest and very pleasant - ph.662-272-407) . Keep in mind the temperature cannot be controlled from your room (at least in our room we couldn't). Simple call to the front desk, and it was adjusted to our comfort level.
Only 2 small suggestions- I wish a gym in the hotel had water and towels. And I wish the hotel used different type of air freshener - automatic sprays, or diffusers. The one they use, that plugs into electric outlet, is doing more harm than good - it produced very unpleasant (for me and my family) smell.
I researched hotels for days to get the perfect hotel and the Preciados was perfect. The rooms are small but that is true of most hotels in Europe. The staff were great, the room clean, beds comfortable, the minibar was a great value. It's Proximity to the center was perfect for everything. I read the review "the rooms weren't as nice as they looked in the picture", that review made me nervous, but the rooms were nicer than the picture in my opinion. It was quite. I would deinitely stay there again. We went with my 2 older teenagers and my younger daughter. It was perfect...
nothing
Overpriced - offering poor value for money. I wouldn't stay here again. I also booked a Double/Twin room and received a single room.
The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. they really made our trip a pleasure. Small things like extra chocs in the room (unexpected) also made a real difference. Excellent location.
Staff service
I feel that the breakfast buffet was good but understaffed. You would the folks there running around and quarreling with each other due to amount of work and alignment.
Free Wireless connection, free minibar, clean and well equipped room. Quite location of the room
Hospitality
Everything. The hotel was in immaculate condition. Its very central and loved the shutters to keep the city noise out.
The staff was very pleasant and accomodated our need for a triple based on a simple e-mail.
Although the room had no ash trays, it had cleary been smoked in. The wood floors help with reduction of smoke but the pillows and mattresses retain the odor.
Great location, helpful staff, clean and fresh rooms, brilliant bathroom, free mini-bar, welcoming chocolates and cava and Madrid is a brilliant city. Can we move in for good?
Staff very extremely friendly
Travelers can stay right in the heart of Madrid at Hotel Preciados. The hotel is pricey but worth it for the location and freebies, plus the historic restaurant as once a meeting spot for famous 19th-century poets and authors.
The location of Hotel Preciados is in the middle of the action. Puerta del Sol, Gran Via, the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, La Almudena Cathedral, Sabatini Gardens, and the Royal Theater are all within a short walk from the hotel. Preciados is on a pedestrian street running from Puerta del Sol to Plaza de Santo Domingo, a small square off Gran Via. The central location brings tons of tourists and locals alike all day, every day, but the hotel is on the quieter part of the street.
The off-site amenities are plentiful with great shopping around Sol and Gran Via, plus a fun nightlife in the Huertas neighborhood are just a short walk away. There are also plenty of museums, activities, restaurants and bars nearby. However, the on-site amenities are scarce but still offer a few great features like four meeting rooms for conferences and events, great freebies including minibar items restocked daily and WiFi, and a historic restaurant that features outdoor seating, Spanish cuisine, and known for being the meeting spot for plenty of 19th century poets and authors.
Accommodations come in a variety of sizes ranging from Standard Double rooms to a Junior Suite Ernest Hemingway. All rooms are clean and contemporary with comfortable beds, work desks, wood floors, flat-screen TVs, and a free minibar. The bathrooms are impressive with lots of space and some with soaking tubs. Some rooms also feature balconies with wonderful city views.
The Hotel Preciados offers an unbeatable location for all types of travelers looking to explore and entertain in Madrid.
