Pros: This gorgeous little apartment was perfect. Beautifully styled with the owners flair and art. Gilbert was the most perfect host, really taking excellent care of us. We can’t thank you enough for your kindness. Roanne is a lovely town, worth spending a few days to explore.
Cons: That we could not stay longer.
Pros: What was there not to like? The location is right in the historic centre of Roanne. Breakfast arrived in 2 big baskets and we struggled to finish even half of it. The host is a passionate hat mold maker and his wife a hat maker. The host was took tmie to show us around his workshop, which was most interesting.
Cons: Nothing really.
Pros: Very quiet location in a closed alley, nice to relax outside in the evening after a day trip .Spacious apartment in beautifully renovated cottages. Very warm welcome, excellent varied breakfast, different every day , with local products and home made jams ( delicious mirabelle jam ! ) . Be sure to visit the ateliers of this fascinating artisans!
Pros: Location was amazing. Accomodation was very clean and quirky
Pros: The location great ,owners really nice very welcoming a very special place somthing out of the ordinary.
Located in Villerest, Chateau De Champlong is in a rural location, within a 10-minute drive of Clinique du Renaison and Halle Des Sports Andre Vacheresse. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and an elevator. Planning an event in Villerest? This hotel has facilities measuring 2582 square feet (240 square meters), including conference space. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Excellent restaurant. Helpful, friendly staff.
Cons: No seating in bedroom apart from one Perspex desk chair. Bathroom door was not opaque, so occupant was clearly visible from the bedroom.
Cons: could improve on the quality of the pillows
Pros: We arrived hot & tired after a long day's cycling to be given an upgraded room, a welcome surprise. The manageress was very helpful & our room was spacious and very comfortable. We had aperitifs in the bar area with a plate of small amuse bouche, pre dinner. Our meals & wine were superb, we had decided to chose only a main course and desert but were offered another amuse bouche, delicious home baked bread, and a pre-desert plate ! Went to bed very happy. The Chateau is set in a pretty parkland, a fair way out of Villerest.
Located in Noailly, Château de la Motte is within a 15-minute drive of Couvent des Cordeliers de Charlieu and Abbaye Saint-Fortune de Charlieu. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Kind hosts who were very friendly and we very much enjoyed our discussions with them. We also had nice dinner cooked at the house and we enjoyed that this was not as heavy as when eating out at restaurants all the time! Our room was large and comfortable - we had a lovely sunny sitting area that looked over the garden. The house in it's entirety is full of lots very beautiful antique furniture that is in keeping with the architecture and the colours used throughout are very French (and nice!).
Cons: The Château is quite run down, and is really a big manor house - it certainly would have been lovely in its day. For some guests it will not meet the expectations of the photos online or the idea of a "chateau". Perhaps because the grounds are not as well kept as many other accommodations we stayed in. We didn't end up feeling we wanted to linger around the pool or in the garden - we rathered go out during the day. The rooms were nice but bathrooms not great - I think they were a 1960s addition made by past owners and are not very in keeping or comfortable (climbing into shower over bath was tricky). The location itself is very quiet (- not that this is the fault of the house or owners!) and we found the area too quiet for us (most nearby towns almost deserted). We enjoyed our dinner with the hosts but didn't know the price before we had them and thought that 28€ per head was too high compared to restaurants in France.
Pros: Almost like staying in a friend’s home. Lilian and Henrik were so welcoming and helpful. Cooking us a delicious dinner and joining us for lovely conversation.
Pros: The evening meal.
Cons: Disappointed the room that we had booked wasn't available. Dusty room. No water to drink in the room. Disappointing breakfast.
Pros: It was like staying with (fortunate) friends in an old-fashioned French country house, with all the space and elegant décor that that implies. Yet comfortable and informal, and we loved the garden swimming pool on a hot August evening. Also the peace of the location, deep in the French countryside. Our Swedish hosts were interesting conversationalists, just like the kind of friends we wish we had more of: intelligent, well-informed and unpretentious. We were lucky they had time to chat with us, of course. We hope to return.
Cons: A minor point: I found the washbasin in the bathroom rather small and difficult for shaving. But who needs to shave on holiday anyway?
Pros: A wonderful beautiful castle. The hosts were amazing, very nice and interesting people. They have prepared a very nice dinner for us an told us all kind of interesting things. We strongly reccomend this place.
Pros: Wonderful warm welcome made us feel at home straight away, great grounds and unique original room , clean , warm and made for excellent night’s sleep. Great breakfast and our host made this a totally memorable experience in this beautiful château!
Pros: The breakfast was very good and lots of it. The bedroom was very comfortable, a very comfortable bed. Liliane and Henrik where perfect hosts, very friendly. Our evening meal was absolutely delicious. We had a fabulous stay we wish we could have stayed longer.
Cons: nothing !!! Keep doing what you are doing we had a great stay.
Pros: Lovely Château with exceptional hosts. We were made to feel part of the family. The bedroom was huge with a seating area and an extra large, very comfortable bed. The evening meals were delicious with a blend of French and Swedish cuisine. Just what we imagined a chateau should be like with beautiful antique furniture.
Pros: Gorgeous chateau, very nicely renovated. Very charming place to stay. The hosts were very friendly, very flexible and easygoing - they made us feel most welcome. We would love to return one day.
Pros: Lovely residence in a great relaxing setting and you are treated as a guest not a customer.Dinner was very tasty and good value and we had a very nice overnight stay before continuing our journey. The owners are renovating the chateau to a good standard and are putting in usb charging points for the guests which was the only time we had seen these in france. The hosts work very hard for the guests and were very accommodating allowing us to use the fridge and drink our own wine with the meal.
Cons: nothing it was very pleasant

Pros: Great location

This hotel has facilities measuring 215 square feet (20 square meters), including a meeting room. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Great breakfast. Comfortable room, easy parking. Good bistro on site.
Cons: Room was small and basic but had everything you needed.
Pros: Really nice staff. The place worth the cost, easy to go to the city center by car and not noisy at all, even if close to the ring road.
Pros: Excellent air con in the rooms which we really appreciated after a very hot day in the car with no cooling !
Cons: Change in menu and presentation of food in the restaurant compared with the last time we stayed here . . . No buffet (which used to be superb), poor selection (burgers or skewers) and no chicken for the chicken option ! Breakfast only moderate !
Cons: Choice of food & wine. Not being told that the hotel had changed management resulting in reduced choice & facilities.
Pros: Clean room with all necessary basic amenities
Pros: It was walkable distance from the location of the wedding I was attending.

Located in Villerest, Hotel du Golf is within a 10-minute drive of Clinique du Renaison and Halle Des Sports Andre Vacheresse. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and multilingual staff. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Arrived at 4pm to find hotel deserted. Rang bell for 15 minutes but no response. Left property wondering what we would do only to receive a text message giving us a code for door and key in door of room. Place was totally deserted until another car arrived after 9. Very basic room with no access to advertised free wifi. Grounds and pool look as though no one has tended them for months. Definitely do not stay here
Pros: The hosts are friendly and helpful. The rooms are simple but attractive and individually decorated, with balconies. The hotel is in the middle of wide fields and yet is only a few miles from downtown Roanne. Besides the hotel swimming pool, there is swimming nearby in the Lac de Villerest. The medieval towns along the lake and in the wine country west of Roanne are charming.
