The writing on the wall says, "be the artist of your own life." Over the four poster bed is a photograph of Walt Whitman. The bed is big but hard. I slept well but woke up with hip/back pain. The bathtub is full size and stocked with full size bottles of soap, shampoo, conditioner. The cuisinart coffee maker does not work but I managed to make a cup of coffee with it, the coffee provided is good quality. The tea assortment is thoughtful and the kettle is the same as in Istanbul, that is an electric water boiler. The owner, Louise, is gracious and kind. She has a Shitzu, a quiet dog that walks around freely inside wearing red decorations in her ears, like doggy earrings. My dog, not much larger in size, growls and barks at the Shitzu, he has a thing for Shitzus. At the desk is a photo of Chilean poet and Nobel Laureate Gabriela Mistral. Victor Hugo's photo covers a hole in the wall. The building was haunted according to Alexander, the 29 year old son of Louise, a truly gracious hostess who speaks little English. Alexander helped me with my bags (unlike Super8 in Peterborough). 8-9% of Quebequois are Anglophiles or native English speakers, so 9 out of 10 people here only speak French. Alexander speaks fluent English, and he says the family hired an exorcist to get rid of the ghost. It felt to me as soon as I walked in, that someone had been murdered here, a domestic dispute, man and woman, still feels that way. It is certainly full of old stuff.
It is not accessible for disabled, the original room I reserved was up a narrow twisted stairway with no elevator/lift. The floors are not even, there are steps between rooms that are difficult to see.
The facilities are good, we xan use kitchen.
We wanted a property near Montreal and near the highway to Quebec City. This B&B was ideal in that regard. The room was comfortable and breakfast was delicious.
The bed frame and floor was very creaky. There were spiders in the room. It didn't come with breakfast and it's not in a convenient location. The stairs is very steep.
The old building was very nice to look at. It had all the modern amenities but you could still see the old structure. The lady running it was very nice and the breakfast was very good.
Unfortunately I was a bit too tall for the bed which is made for normal people.
