Collection had a ridiculous delay. A long queue that should have moved much more quickly. Each person was at the desk and twiddling their thumbs while the Budget reps spent ages on the computer. The problem must be in the computer system as each step seemed to take ages.

BEWARE, we waited for almost 3 hours to pick up our rental car!!!!!!!! A complete waste of time! I WILL NEVER RENT A CAR FROM BUDGET EVER AGAIN.

Expect to wait a LONG time when picking up your vehicleCar was fine but had minor damage that I needed to identify before I left in order to avoid being charged upon return. These included a damaged side mirror and small body dent, both of which were noted on my contract (be sure to inspect your car carefully!). Also, be sure you're really proficient at using a manual transmission, which is the default even for higher end cars, as many of the streets in the older parts of Lisbon involve twisting, hilly, single-lane cobblestone roads. I happen to have always driven a manual transmission so it was a non-issue for me. If you're unsure about your proficiency with a manual, pay extra to get an automatic. It's a lot cheaper than rolling backwards into the car behind you on a steep hill and having to deal with insurance, etc.. One more suggestion - be sure to have Google maps (or something similar) available for navigation! If you don't want to incur cell charges you can 'download offline maps' in Google maps which allows you to use navigation without an internet or cellular connection (the GPS chip in your phone does not require either - you just have to have the local maps downloaded to your device). Be sure to download maps for the entire area you plan to drive in (you can define the boundaries graphically when downloading offline maps).It took over an hour just to get to the counter at check-in! They literally hand out numbered tickets when you arrive, as though you're waiting to buy something at a deli. I heard from others who rented cars in Lisbon that this is typical for all companies - not just Budget - so plan accordingly.

The personnel is helpfull but it took us a lot of time to get the car and start our vacation. Same thing for the drop off. You might have a screen that shows that you successfully dropped the car so that once you arrive to the counter, other waiting customers wont get annoyed and offended

Gave me a damaged vehicle which I didn't notice until I got to my destThe inside of the car was clean, that's about all I liked.Long story short, the car had pretty significant damage on the left front bumper that my family noticed once I arrived at their destination. I drove straight from the airport to their house, not stops, no parking. It was obviously the previous renter or occurred in the parking garage by an employee or other renter backing into the car. I called the office, at least 20 times, no answer. Had to call international customer service to get adivce on what to do. Rep said since it was within a few hours they not charge me for any damage that was on the vehicle. They assured me it would be ok but still didn't do anything but notate my call and concern. I decide to return the car that night instead of the next day and advised what happened. They were highly concerned and didn't understand how it was possible a car went out like that. I agreed and stated im sure it's not normal but you need to figure out why it happened. Check your surveillance video, do something. If I did the damage I'd own up to it gladly. He found other scratches in the back of the car, again impossible by me, as I went from point A to B in 30 min and the car was in a driveway until I drove it back. The rental counter just suggested to email customer service which I did, explaining myself to essentially prove my innocence. It's my word against theirs at this point. They have authorizrd $430 dollars on my credit card for the damage and rental (which was only $35.) I'm hoping they work this out and don't charge me and investigate on their end.

Budget LisbonThe pickup in the Lisbon airport was a bit slow, but not due to the employees, but due to people not having a reservation and debating on cars at the counter. The employee we dealt with was very thorough in going over the paperwork. We did do a lot of driving and I would recommend the EZ Pass for the tolls.Nothing bad about Budget, just the markings at the airport for trying to return the car.
