4,0 Okay
Pros: Location OK.
Cons: Kitchen is terrible. Stove didn't work almost at all. It wasn't even fixed to the counter. Kitchen is lacking basic stuff. e.g. kitchen knife. Lightning is poor.
4,0 Okay
Pros: It was functional with the bare minimum of kitchen facilities. It was clean.
Cons: It was very difficult to get the electric heater to work.the temperature fluctuated, but it was often very cold. The kitchen could be better - more utensils, a tea towel, another pan, a tin openner. The hob temperature was difficult to control The room lighting needs to be improved It was not exactly cozy.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Well furnished room with kitchen and ensuite bathroom.
Cons: Wifi in the room was unstable and very slow
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The facilities, the open space (though we couldn't make full use of it at this time of social isolation due to Covid), ease of check in and check out remotely.
Cons: A little more info in the room re things like rubbish disposal, local amenities. Having said that, whenever I emailed the property, I got an instant reply so I wasn't concerned I couldn't find out any information.
Ibis Leuven Centrum - Leuven - Building

7,8 Good (2 160 reviews)
R1 775+
Overview Reviews
A weekend in Leuven is definitely a weekend you won't forget. You can find our hotel in the historical city centre, with many restaurants and bars very close to your relaxed room. All our rooms are equipped with our SweetBeds, a chill bathroom with shower and a flat-screen TV for a movie & chill night. In the mornings, enjoy breakfast in our breakfast area - and end your day with drinks in our bar.
7,0 Good
Pros: Location, fresh fruits, service.
7,0 Good
Pros: Very friendly reception Right in the city center
Cons: Roomsize - When you open the door you immediately hit the bed.
7,0 Good
Pros: Good location, rooms are equipped with all basic facilities. Strong wi-fi. Nice curtains to keep rooms dark for sleeping. Beds, linens, toilets were very clean, nicely maintain.
Cons: Like most of hotels, rooms were not sound proof and there are always some people in next rooms/walking in hallway making noise. Toilet/bathroom was too small.
4,0 Okay
Pros: Very well located hotel, just 2 minutes from the historic center, with all restaurants, bars and shopping available around. Staff was nice and friendly.
Cons: The room was ridiculously small! The door could not even open fully because of the bed. A large bed in a room in which two people can barely stand at the same time doesn't make any sense, except for a single person (like me) who has a slightly better bed. Ok, the room was furnished with all the important stuff, but a couple can't fit there for more than a night or two, and there was not even space enough to store the luggages. There was no sound isolation with the corridor at all! I could hear all people passing by at night or in the morning, just like if they were in the room. And if, like in my case, a neighbor had the good idea of screaming on the phone in the middle of the night in the corridor, then it made sleeping impossible. In brief, the room is absolutely not worth the cost of 80€ per night... and doesn't fit to a 3* hotel category. More of a 1-2* The extra blanket was full of cigarette holes
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast and great position for visiting the city or for moving with buses. Small but comfortable room, with excellent cleaning.
Cons: sometime there were noises coming from surrounding rooms, mainly from bathroom drains.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: Very nice location. Breakfast was fine, too.
Cons: Super small room with an even smaller bathroom, with uncomfortable shower door. No fridge, no tea cooker, loud air conditioner.
6,0 Good
Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful
Cons: There is a ventilation in the bathroom which could be switched off. The hangers and cupboards are ok for one person but could never fit two.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: I would stay here again and I would recommend it to friends and family. Location, cleanliness and staff were all excellent.
Cons: The shower: was not self explanatory, sprayed water outside onto the floor, shower floor was very slippery, water was VERY hot and was difficult to adjust. I wish there had been an option for a continental breakfast at a reduced price. We are not big breakfast eaters so it was too expensive to eat there for just coffee and a pastry. Only one day out of seven were we hungry enough to eat the wonderful breakfast.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable room. Excellent location, friendly staff. Convenient onsite parking.
Cons: Breakfast and parking are rather expensive.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This was a lovely place, a historic building nicely modernised into a luxury hotel. Our room (twin beds, as requested) was very comfortable, good beds and a bathroom with jacuzzi bath and shower spray. Breakfast was good. We used this hotel as a base for visiting Brussels, and thought it was a good alternative to bland business hotels in busy ultra-modern parts of Brussels. Leuven is pretty in parts (not many parts) but feels like an authentic town, and there is a good train service to Brussels, with cheap weekend tickets. We walked round the city (Brussels) on Saturday, and spent most of Sunday at the Musees Royaux des Beaux Arts, which must be one of Europe's most underrated art galleries. We were there for five hours, and did not see everything, in spite of not even going to the Magritte museum. Great stuff about Bruegel in the Old Masters section, and lots of impressionism and social realism in the "fin de siècle" section. The latter section has eight subterranean basements, so plenty to see.
Cons: It is hard to find anything not to like in this wonderful place, but the view from our window was less than excellent. The old brick monastery buildings have been tastefully restored, and we could see a garden with magnolia tree (in flower). Alas, just behind this view was a large, concrete slab of a tower block. Town planning (or lack of it) seems to be a problem in so many historic towns in Belgium and the Netherlands.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet but central location. Well restored room with high ceiling and old beams visible. Very clean. Even the fake fireplace was fitting. Very good breakfast.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!
Cons: -
9,0 Excellent
Pros: We experienced exceptionally pleasant reception staff; a large, beautiful room full of light; a perfect bed and a cozy sitting area; and the chance to experience a historic building beautifully restored: it was all delightful. Sadly, we had rain, but the large inner courtyard would have been a perfect place to stroll in the sun and have a drink in the evening. Maybe next time.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Well-located room made it easy to get a fresh breeze going, clean and comfortable sofa, retro TV, electric heater with ventilator allowed for quickly warming up the sleeping area. Shared public waste bins allowed for some sorting of household garbage, birds and a half-domestic cat roamed the inner garden area, which had plenty of benches and a stone-grill. Though the walls are obviously thin it was mostly quiet throughout the night. Professional and friendly staff.
Cons: Shower-head suspender was broken off which meant you needed one hand to hold it. Too few settings on the heater made it tricky to get a good temperature that lasted to the morning. No residential computer available. Steep pricing when travelling alone but return-of-value above other accommodations available to me at that time in Leuven. A fair amount of smokers however I smoke myself.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very good value for the price. Specially for a few nights. They are studios, so no luxury items except for TV. Everything was clean and working and the reception was friendly. They have a convenient self check in after 9pm
4,0 Okay
Pros: Almost nothing.
Cons: The rooms were smelly and did not feel clean at all. Broken furniture, Poor customer service, very poor value for money.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Leuven is a really nice place, very laidback, good beer bar De Friet Margriet by St Pieterskierk and good restaurant Notre Dame on the other side of the church square. The museum was interesting but trying too hard to be modern. St Pieterskierk church was amazing.
Cons: Nothing
7,0 Good
Pros: The lights on the bathroom are hard to find. The finishings aren't marvelous.
Cons: It is in a great location, the automatic check-in is very useful, the room is a very large apartment.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Tye rooms was really spacious. It could fit a family of 5-6 people. Easy check at 16:00 (although it would be nice to have an opportunity of a free check in at 14:00 upon availability) and nice option of a late check-out.
Cons: The only problem was a sigaret-like smell. I am bot sure it was because of sigarets or some detergent but it spoiled the overall impression of the space. Also some neighbours were quite loud in the night but this is a matter of luck.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: large space. low-ish price
Cons: I arrived at 9PM. Nobody at a reception (that's fine). I picked up the enveloppe from the locker but the key didn't fit on the room number specified on the paper. The 1st guy on the list to call didn't pick up the phone. The 2nd guy on the list I called couldn't find my reservation (but I had an enveloppe with my name on it in my hand...). I finally got in the right room. The next morning my shower started to flood. I called the first guy and left a voicemail to try and fix my shower. Came back that evening. Shower still the same. Next morning the bathroom mirror came lose from the wall as I was standing in front of it. I caught it just in time. It could have slashed my throat (not joking). I called the 1st guy again. He said he hadn't listened to my earlier voicemail yet...I told him about the mirror. He noted it, but didn't apologise. My conclusion: they just don't care one jota. Never again Ambassador Suites!
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: Easy location in the center of Leuven. Large space.

2,0 Mediocre
Pros: The hotel is located close to the railway and bus terminals.
Cons: My flight was diverted due to bad weather. The landing was aborted due to strong wind and it was not really a pleasant experience. I had to spend night unexpectedly in Frankfurt. I notified the hotel, no response. I called no response. Next day I checked in and asked if due to this really exceptional circumstances, I could get the first night fee waived. Staff at ther eception said now and was telling me about the commission they pay to BOOKING. Well, the flight was really quite bad and it was not my choice to stay in Frankufrt an extra night. I have a proof from Lufthansa. But NO, simply NO, we need to make money. So much to the empathy of the staff. I am not sure, how much money they can loose on these kind of involuntary "no shows". So, all in all, they cash your money but refuse to make any extra step, even if you had quite difficult situation. Sorry, this is a little detail but makes the experience bad. I would not recommend this hotel.

Pros: Room was nice although it could have used a closet. (9/10) Location was perfect, right in the middle of the city. With A LOT of restaurants super close to the hotel. (10/10) Staff was nice and helpful. (10/10) Bathroom was fine. (9/10)
Cons: Parking was expensive (20eur/night) but you don't have much choice as there's no public parking anywhere near (even though public parking in Leuven was cheaper per day as far as I could tell). Breakfast was also a bit expensive, depends on how much you eat, I guess. Variety was good, food was OK, coffee was good! Wi-Fi is a bit annoying to login and kind-of slow for 2020. You can pay for faster wifi, though.

Pros: great location, central but quiet. modern clean room with good internet connection. friendly staff. good breakfast. beautiful city. a lot of good restaurants and cafe around.
Cons: Our check-in was shocking. We arrived on Feb 7 (Friday) around 10 pm. We got a very small room with a rather small bed. I suspect it was a room for a single occupation, but how could we know?...It certainly wasn't a four stars hotel room..And ...drainage in the sink was clogged. Of course we complained. They tried to fix it.. But nonetheless it didn't work. Next morning we complained again about a sink and a room's size. And got fast a good and bigger room where everything worked. In which we happily spent 6 more nights. We never again met staff members who gave us that room. I wonder who they were ( a girl and a boy)?

Pros: Close proximity to the university (central campus), shopping, restaurants without need for a car.
Cons: The noise from the plaza area in front of the hotel--lasted all through the night and was quite loud at times.

Pros: Good value for money, 61 Euros for twin room with nice breakfast buffet. Parking garage below hotel. Excellent location in city centre.
Cons: Twin rooms were comfortable, but slightly too small as there were two queen size beds.

Pros: We had a brilliant weekend rate. The hotel is a business hotel and our twin room was perfect for our needs. The breakfast was full self-service and plenty full. Leuven is a lovely place and the hotel is very well situated in town. We had a room out to the back which was blissfully quiet.
Cons: The receptionist on duty was not very welcoming - she seemed to class us by the rate we were paying and the rucksacks on our backs. Or she was just not enjoying her job.

Pros: The room is grand for one person and feel so good and decorated as very classical style.
4,8 Okay
Pros: Perfect location, near train station and access to downtown
Cons: All was so small bathroom shower bed, the first person who extended the welcome was clearly uncomfortable speaking in French and made every effort possible to make it clear. There was not AC so we had to tolerate a hot room during the day. The disposition of the beds made impossible to walk around the room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I had an early train and it took me 5 minutes to get from my room on the sixth floor to the track. you really can't beat that.
Cons: the closest laundromat was about an 8 minute walk away, did not have soap for sale and of course is not on the web. the staff was very helpful in giving directions but i would not consider this an ideal hotel for someone who is planning to do laundry.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Great price, great location, very comfortable bed, the usual high standard of Ibis room. My favourite budget hotel chain
Cons: Would be nice to have non-dairy milk (oat or soya) at breakfast.
