10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful mid-18th century house with well appointed common spaces, beautifully decorated rooms and fantastic amenities. The owners are lovely, engaging and very helpful.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: From the cozy decor to the scrumptious breakfasts, Birchwood Inn is one of a kind! Tom and Debbie, the innkeepers, serve up a warm, hospitable atmosphere from the moment you step out of your car. The location is just steps away from downtown Lenox. We walked to Tanglewood and enjoyed a concert there. We also paddle boarded at the Stockbridge Bowl and walked on the trails of the Mass Audobon's Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. Brenda, their treasure of a cook, creates delicious breakfasts and baked goods that are fit for the gods! Finally, I must mention the sweet, homemade treats laid out for guests to nosh on any time of the day. A gem of a place!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Extremely well maintained Bed & Breakfast Inn of the Highest Calibre. Much though given to every little detail. Quite Perfected. Decanter of Sherry in the vast Library to boot!
Cons: The entry driveway is kind of narrow but that is about it. That Is a nit pick for sure.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The Birchwood Inn was charming and historical yet tasteful and modern in its amenities. The hospitality was truly excellent. My husband and I spent a night at the inn for our anniversary, and Tom was so welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was gourmet. Could not recommend more.
7,7 Good
Pros: The owner was very nice. The home is very comfortable. The location is great.
Cons: The furnishings need updating. The bedding needs updating with better quality pillows, down comforters, white duvets. Its a little old fashioned. Would like to see an updated kitchen and it would be helpful if the service understood the history of the home and surrounding areas. Would also be nice to have less sugary options for breakfast.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The BB was simply beautiful! The breakfast was outstanding—more like a five star hotel than a typical BB.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The inn is lovely. The grounds lush with flowers and trees. The front porch looks out on lovely gardens. Close walk to town, but not right in town, which is great. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Home baked goodies, eggs and fruit. Our room lovingly decorated and comfortable with all amenities. We will definitely stay at he Birchwood Inn again!

Pros: Very nice small and family style hotel. Owners are very friendly and helpful
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Innkeepers and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfast was to die for. Smoked salmon, smoked trout, herring cream cheeses with different spicing. House made granola you have never had anything that good.
Cons: The historic building needs careful attention to bring it up to date for comfort. Heating system needs an overhaul/replacement. It was cold, especially if you were anywhere near a window. The latter could also use an upgrade for comfort. The shower head in our room did not work.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The ambiance, room and the breakfast

Cons: It’s very pricey

Pros: Great location
Cons: It was expensive and for the price it appeared “tired” and somewhat shabby. There was a sitting room and fireplace and couches but no lights for reading. The curtains were coming off the curtain rods. Overall, a little sad.

2,0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing other than it was close to my family which also saw the room and stated we could have done better for the price At best the little hole in the walls a Ross the street which are in same shape for 1/2 less
Cons: We were put in with people who lived there. They were sketchy with drug deals occurring. Then a fire alarm for over 2 hours called front desk 3 times this was well after midnight. 3rd time finally after I stated I wanted a refund it stopped. I felt that this establishment was deceptive especially since they statesd when booked only 2 rooms left. There were many available rooms much nicer than the smaller moldy smelling dated room we were unfortunately rented I will never stay there or recommend .
8,0 Excellent
Cons: The bathroom in our room was absolutely gross.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Quaint, clean, convenient with a warm, accommodating, helpful staff
5,0 Okay
Cons: Beds were uncomfortable
5,7 Okay
Cons: Dated. Separate rooms (different building) from pool. Not described
7,4 Good
Pros: Perfect for a one or two night stay. The room ammenities in the adjacent building to the main Inn are small and older yet the rooms were clean. The hot tub and indoor pool were well kept and appreciated prior to my half marathon race in Tanglewood. The staff was accomodating however they neglected to provide me with a requested wake up call. The complimentary coffee and tea was a nice touch and the gal tending bar could not have been nicer or more insightful.
4,8 Okay
Cons: Significantly overpriced for what it offered!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel. Very clean room, attention to detail and staff was great. We arrived early and they accommodated an early check in for us. The room was a nice size and I loved the little patio off the back of the room. Nice indoor pool too.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the following : received text prior to check in telling me room was ready, staff very friendly and went out of way when they learned we ate at particular restaurant about the special relationship they have with them and suggested we could go back with hotel receipt for discount, rooms clean, comfortable beds with enough pillows, but mostly loved the family vibe you got from staff. You knew they cared.
Cons: Nothing bad to say
7,0 Good
Cons: Breakfast wasn’t that great.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and cozy. Exactly like the pictures
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was super friendly. We arrived early with friends and asked about possibly upgrading both rooms to the main building and they gave us a great deal for 2 rooms close together. The breakfasts offered custom omelets plus the usual fixings and more. It was very good! The whole place was clean and friendly and we will certainly return!
Cons: This is not about the hotel per se, but it was a holiday weekends with lots of kids. We did complain about the kids on the 2nd floor running and stomping their feet well into the early hours of the morning. This is something the parents should have controlled. The Yankee Inn apologized and stated they did speak to the kids and parents multiple times, but got no results. To us on the first floor, it sounded like a herd of elephants above us. Either better behaved kids, or better expression to those staying above or put those with kids in the other building and adults only in the main building or more sound deadening material between the floors. This is our only complaint. Otherwise was an excellent stay.

Pros: Very interesting house to stay in. With all it’s history and antiques. Owners were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Nice breakfast and easy walk into town
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful home, beautiful people, beautiful surroundings, beautiful food.
Cons: Overhead fan in room didn't work if overhead light was turned off.
8,5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old inn, very friendly staff
Cons: Needs a little updating. Fixtures like lamps, TV, WIFI, are below contemporary standards. Continental breakfast spread was ok, but "made to order" eggs arrived sans toast, meats or any sides. Seemed skimpy. I guess had I specifically asked for sides they would have made them, but in most places the host offers those as choices.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was well prepared, healthy, sumptuous and plentiful , set in an elegantly decorated dining room. The place is conveniently located near the town center where one can find restaurants, novelty shops , Christian churches and a park. The best part of our stay is meeting the owners of the inn ... Richard, Joan, and Lisa Mears. They are so gracious, warm, hospitable and very engaging in conversing with their guests. Their kindness and sincerity makes you feel like your family. We wish the Mears all the very best!
Cons: Everything was well thought out by the owners. I couldn't think of anything lacking in it. The place is unique, lovely, inviting and well-kept. It's a "home away from home". We fell in love with the place, most especially with the beautiful owners. Definitely a place worth going back to!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The owners, Joan and Richard Mears, with their daughter Lisa, have created a magical place. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with beauty; from the outside entrance with the flowered trellis, to coming into the space. It felt like walking into another time. The room was lovely as was the rest of the house. My husband was even able to play the beautiful piano in the music room. The breakfasts were great and every time, there was someone interesting to talk to including the Mears. Lisa was very helpful in letting us know the vibe of Lenox and pointed us to great restaurants and Berkshire interests. We’ll definitely go back. True magic!
Cons: We loved everything about the property. Nothing was out of place.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful Inn with a great location and walking distance to town.
Cons: The electric needed to be updated.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Lisa was very kind and attentive.
Cons: A real TV, a safer shower/tub-the handle in the tub was loose and mat in the shower was not secure.
9,2 Excellent
Cons: The shower no pressure

Pros: If you are in Western MA seeing a show at Tanglewood, this place is in a great location for that.
4,6 Okay
Pros: Room was not totallyready coffee maker had used grounds in it. Bed sheets were not fully in place leaving 15 percent of mattress exposed not enough towels for 2 people also only 1 chair in room with no desk bath room water not hot enough
Cons: Every thing above in what you liked thought I was reporting what I didn’t like the thing I did like was the jacuzzi also didn’t like the TV reception
2,0 Mediocre
Pros: Location and spacious rooms
Cons: The hotel is under construction and it should have communicated before we booked the hotel and not after in a random email. The hotel is dysfunctional and should not book guests during the construction.
7,0 Good
Pros: Spectacular location at one of the grandest "cottages" remaining in the Berkshires. A 5 minute drive to downtown Lenox. Delicious brunch. The bathroom in our room was newly renovated and luxurious. Good service.
Cons: The main building of Cranwell is breathtaking, and the prices are what you would expect to stay in such a historic and beautiful place. However, our room was in an adjacent building, circa 1963. It was pretty nice, but definitely more like what I would expect for $300 rather than $500. Perhaps on their website they make it more clear that you aren't staying in the main house, but booking through Kayak I was surprised to get less than I thought I'd paid for. I found the walls to be pretty thin in the building we stayed in (Founders).
5,8 Okay
Pros: Nice room if I wanted to stay at a chain motel
Cons: Said that they were renovating but it more like a construction site
7,1 Good
Pros: Close to all of the places we wanted to visit.
Cons: The bar in the mansion was not open on Sunday evening
7,1 Good
Pros: We come to area frequently...it is our go to place
Cons: Under construction... but we knew that ..... so that was okay.... very noisy upstairs neighbors... acoustics not good.... feel it lost a little bit of rustic and quaint charm....
5,8 Okay
Pros: Beautiful location, comfortable rooms.
Cons: Arrived late and the staff seemed tired and annoyed that I had used a third party site. The receptionist was not sure how to set up the reservation and had difficulty hiding her annoyance. It was not directed at me personally but I still felt bad about it. The facility is under construction and the workers started running chainsaws and other equipment at 8 in the morning. Stairs in the carriage house are out of order due to construction which seems like a safety concern.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Spacious room. Comfortable beds. Ample closet space. Brand new, very clean.
Cons: Under construction. They should have closed the facility until construction was completed. Although the room was brand new, the heating system was not adequately working. Called front desk but with no satisfaction. No extra blankets in room. Parking was on the road. Due to weather conditions and construction, muddy access from road to facility.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Although there is a lot to be done, you can see how beautiful it will be. The Manor takes you back in time. Elegant design, wonderful food and the people who work there could not have been nicer or,more helpful. Our room which had two queen beds an a huge bathroom that you could dance in.
Cons: I wish the indoor pool and the spa were open.THAT would have my stay, unfortunately,I had some great photos, but my husband inadvertently deleted them. ARG
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The Cranwell was amazing place alot of history and the grounds were beautiful
Cons: No

Pros: Beautiful house in a great location. Friendly staff, Excellent breakfast. My advice is always book directly through the Rookwood Inn site, you'll have a lot more room options.
Cons: No complaints!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Charming inn perfectly situated to attend events at Tanglewood. Beautifully appointed with Victorian antiques. Very clean. And such a comfortable bed! Amy, the innkeeper, is welcoming and easy to work with.
Cons: Breakfast was the only disappointment-- for the cost, it should have been a bit more creative than mediocre scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and standard cereals and breads.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location can't be beat. Breakfast was excellent. Was not aware not all rooms had TVs. We were out most of the time and I didn't notice that when I made the reservation but it was a surprise.
6,0 Good
Pros: The bed was very comfortable....appreciated that.
Cons: The breakfast was disappointing.
2,0 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: We paid $600 for a “suite” which was a very small extra room to fit our two children on a cot and a pull out bed. They advertise a “spa” which does t exist and the pictures really don’t match the experience. Everything was cheaply appointed and looks to have been last renovated in the 1970s. I had to ask for heat from the proprietor. The breakfast was instant oatmeal, and a warmed up quiche. The main problem was the price. In any circumstance, $600/a night comes with expectations of far more value. This place is a true rip off.
7,9 Good
Pros: Breakfast excellent and considerate of my preferences
Cons: Greeted by 'You should have booked directly with me!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: All needs when travelling had been carefully thought of. At check-in owner took care to ask for any special dietary requirements, which I have, and ensured they were met. Extremely comfortable rooms with great cosy ambience in an interesting property. Fantastic location - just a couple of minutes walk from shops and town. Terrific breakfast eg fruit crisp, fruit pastries, eggs, cereal etc - the works! Afternoon cakes and tea etc a real treat!
Cons: Bathroom a bit small but functioned well and had everything needed.
5,4 Okay
Pros: The eggs Benedict breakfast was very good. The location is excellent for walking down town Lenox.
Cons: The facility needed a lot of TLC. Rooms were very nice, but the exterior needs lots of work.

Pros: The Village in is a quaint hotel with tons of 1700's charm. Our room was decorated in a period motif. And the breakfast was amazing! It had everything from eggs to French toast. The managers are so friendly, helpful and great tour guides. A 12 out of 10
Cons: We loved everything about this hotel. It is a hop, skip and a jump from everything in town. The restaurants are amazing. I give this hotel on a scale of one to ten; a 12. You must stay there to experience the eclectic charm of the building, rooms & grounds
7,0 Good
Pros: The breakfast was excellent and the service was excellent.
Cons: The room was very antiquated and could use an update
7,0 Good
Pros: The breakfast and the location

9,0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great, walkable to lots of shops and restaurants and easy to get to Tanglewood. The included breakfast was decent and staff were very efficient and helpful.
Cons: Tiny awkward bathroom, king bed appeared to be two twins stuck together, TV was broken.
6,0 Good
Pros: Staff were very friendly, location was excellent and bed was very comfortable
Cons: The building has a very tired feel, but renovations have begun. The room was small and the bathroom was tiny.

Pros: Breakfast was great!
Cons: I lost my prescription sunglasses and haven’t been able to reach the inn to follow up.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: Manager was excellent and upgraded my room
Cons: The hotel is falling apart. There is one entrance that is usable. My room seriously needed a plumber. The parking lot in back of the hotel needs to be paved and the back of the hotel tells the story of the need for major refurbishing or to be torn down.

Pros: A LOVELY inn with wonderful staff , the complimentary breakfast was awesome, located close to everything in Lenox . Very pleasant garden with dining available in warmer weather. Pros: Temp in Room 60 degrees all night! Room warmed up to 67 by 4:00AM!!!! Temp outside was 28 degrees. NOT acceptable! I asked proprietor to come to see room was 60 degrees & give me a warmer room. Propritor would NOT, he said to wait for room to warmUP!!! BAD BUISNESS MODEL!
Cons: Warm up room BY 6:00 PM. NOT 4:00 AM
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was welcoming. The room was immaculate and fresh. The bed was very comfortable and the shower awesome! How wonderful to have a little refrigerator and microwave available, too! Highly recommend! So close to many attractions.
Cons: Even though this motel is on a main thoroughfare, the sounds were blocked by the air conditioner and the stay was very restful. No problem with this motel. We would definitely stay here again!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Simple and affordable. If you are expecting fancy, this is not it. If you want a room where the windows open and the bathroom is clean, this is the place. The location is close to all attractions. Can't beat the price!
4,0 Okay
Pros: Easy to check in. Staff was nice
Cons: Room reeked of smoke and it was supposed to be a non-smoking room.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff and cleanliness
Cons: Its just an older place, but very functional.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was exactly as advertised and the photos are accurate. The bathroom and carpet are dated, but the bed seemed very new. It was very clean. Overall I'd say a bit dated, but clean - definitely worth the price and I would stay again.
Cons: For the price, I think this hotel is great.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean!!!
4,0 Okay
Pros: The price, you pay for what you get.
Cons: Extremely outdated and a little on the seedy side
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent for visiting the Berkshires. I like to stay here to get a nice quiet private room to myself while enjoying the offerings at Kripalu during the day. I can treat myself to some nice healing arts options with the money I don't have to spend on lodging! The room is clean and has everything you need including a mini coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. The small table with 2 chairs and desk lamp in the King room was perfect for setting up the laptop to get some work done, too. My spouse did not find the bed very comfortable, but I had no issues with it. Owners are friendly and responsive.
Cons: Can't think of anything that could be better. It's an aging/dated property, but well cared for and sparkling clean. I wish they allowed well-behaved pets for an additional pet fee; however, I understand this is an added layer of cleaning and complication.
1,0 Poor
Pros: The room was nice. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: The desk clerk was SUPER RACIST. She did not want to honor our reservation that was paid in advance and told us to go to another hotel.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We were able to check in at 3am. It was clean and we were able to shower and sleep before returning to Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.
Cons: I was hoping for hand lotion in the room. Soap and shampoo / conditioner were provided.

Pros: Extremely well maintained Bed & Breakfast Inn of the Highest Calibre. Much though given to every little detail. Quite Perfected. Decanter of Sherry in the vast Library to boot!
