Great staffs Facilities are well-maintained Good view of the city from the room Good breakfast
Location is not that good, dusty and somewhat dirty neighborhood Room is old
The place was nice and clean and the stuff was helpful. The hotel is old, but it didn't bother me. Location is also very good, next to the Rodriguez mercado and close to the cable car. Hot shower as well.
The windows were a little noisy due to the wind. WiFi was weak.
Pretty central location, comfy bed, decent breakfast
The WiFi! I’ve had good WiFi in Bolivia and this hostel certainly isn’t. I was unable to use the empty tables in the dining room to work, limiting me to my room which was a bit rubbish. They said the breakfast time was until 10am, but I was refused entry after 9:30.
This was the second time I'd stayed there. I knew what I was getting - a good-value basic single room with private bathroom. I needed a place close to the Bolivian Hop bus pick-up zone (they collected me from just down the road at Hostal Iskanwaya, where my friends were staying).
Nothing major really. I had to leave before breakfast started but they didn't offer to make me one early or to take away, which other hotels on this trip have done. They also don't let you fill drink bottles from the water coolers - you have to use tiny disposable cups. Hostels seem more progressive than hotels in this regard.
My room was ready when I arrived before 7am from an overnight bus trip, which was perfect. It was a big single room with private bathroom and good hot shower. Plenty of warm blankets. I loved the retro decor, colourful artwork and mirrors everywhere, plus a lift (very appreciated given the altitude). Nice view over the street markets and up into the hills. Central location, easy to walk to main tourist sites and the purple cable car line. Breakfast was pretty standard - coffee, tea, juice, bread, eggs, fruit, yoghurt, cereal etc.
The downside of being close to the street markets is that it gets a bit noisy early morning at the weekends, as they set up well before sunrise. Otherwise it was reasonably quiet for such a busy area.
