Extremely well-run and luxurious resort. Very well-equipped, and the staff were super friendly and responsive to every need. Very beautiful surroundings as well.
Pros. My wife and I stayed here for her 40th birthday celebration. From the moment we arrived everything was excellent. The staff brought us refreshments while we completed the check in process and received a brief overview of the resort and its amenities. Once we went to our room, we were delighted with a “happy birthday” banner adorning the door. We each received a massage from the spa. Again, an excellent experience except that we were not told to arrive 30 min early for check in. The hot springs were a brief two minute shuttle ride from the main resort. We at first were apprehensive about the need for the shuttle but found that it was run very efficiently with less than a five minute wait each time we used it. The hot springs were a very unique experienced with meticulous attention to detail and cleanliness. We spent most of our evenings there. The signage was a little confusing, admittedly we were lost more than once trying to find out way out. The water was crystal clear, very warm, and chemical free. Truly a one of a kind experience. The breakfast Buffett which was included was very good with special attention to COVID precautions which is always appreciated. The service again was very good as well as the food. All of the food and meals we sampled was above our expectations. We felt the dinner buffet was a bit overpriced at $40 USD/person for what it offered, we did not try this one. All of the other food options were delicious, fresh, and reasonably priced. We participated in the Tapas/wine tasting one evening. We agree this was one of our favorite experiences of the stay. The somliea was both knowledgeable and entertaining throughout the experience. We were running 15 minutes late, and he waited for us to start which was greatly appreciated!
Cons. Nothing.
Pros. Rooms, facilities
Cons. Price of breakfast
Pros. Had a wonderful stay. Great location to explore the rain forest of Costa Rica. Had a wonderful room with beautiful views. Fabulous bathroom with huge Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Great to come back to the resort after hiking, zip-lining and ATV-ing and relax at the hot springs. Will definitely return.
Cons. Breakfast was very expensive. Buffet was $25++. The bill was $125.00 for our family of 4. We shopped in town and had breakfast in the room. Was still enjoyable. There was a fridge, coffee. Would be nice to have options for breakfast.
Pros. The surroundings were beautiful with the volcano as the backdrop. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Shuttle service to spa and springs was very timely.
Pros. The hot springs make it worth the price. We stayed for one night, but enjoyed two days on the hot springs and pools. We absolutely loved it and recommend it.
Cons. Do not expect great food. Both breakfast and dinner were highly overpriced for the quality. Dinner was so disappointing, we spent about $100 for two entrees, one appetizer and two beers, but the ribeye was could barely edible, and the special nothing to brag about. They also offer a buffet by the pool for $39/person, which we didn't try. Breakfast for $25/person was also a rip off considering I only enjoyed the fruits and yogurt. The rest of the buffet was not great, so I barely touched it. They need to invest in better food in my opinion...
Pros. Ultra luxury accommodations if u choose the Rainforest room. What makes this place extra special is the Shangri-La, the exclusive hotel guests only portion of the thermal spa. Can't wait to go there again!
Pros. Everything was perfect. Best service and facilities! Amazing!
Cons. The breakfast is expensive
Pros. Staff, room and Thermals are amazing. Area for guests only is very romantic and peaceful.
Cons. Thermal waters in area for guests only was not as hot as described by staff. Due to rain, all bungalows were dirty and wet. Staff could have been more on the ball on that. Perhaps covering them with plastic sheets so they wouldn't get so wet.
Pros. The thermal pools
Cons. The cleanliness was horrible. Dingy and smell of mold. The facility needs an update badly
