Pros: Rooms, facilities
Cons: Price of breakfast
9,7 Excellent
Pros: Had a wonderful stay. Great location to explore the rain forest of Costa Rica. Had a wonderful room with beautiful views. Fabulous bathroom with huge Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Great to come back to the resort after hiking, zip-lining and ATV-ing and relax at the hot springs. Will definitely return.
Cons: Breakfast was very expensive. Buffet was $25++. The bill was $125.00 for our family of 4. We shopped in town and had breakfast in the room. Was still enjoyable. There was a fridge, coffee. Would be nice to have options for breakfast.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent welcome and high service consciousness
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything . The staff was great. Edison was our tour advisor. He was the best. And the receptionist was amazing I forgot her name. She was pregnant. Her name starts with K. She was so sweet, patient and kind with us. Rafael was amazing welcoming us and assisting us with everything we needed. Overall this place it is just a dream but beside the luxury, what makes the place stand up about the rest is the customer services. Housekeeping staff, gardeners were all very kind and say Good morning to us every day with a honest smile in their faces. What a lovely place.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was too the best of qualities and expressed great car for the customer and it showed. They were always ready to help and smiling.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The resort is in an idyllic location. The grounds are gorgeous and very well maintained. The rooms are modern and luxurious. It was so easy to book an excursion, a spa visit, or order room service with the in-room tablets. The pool at the hotel was gorgeous, and the breakfast was amazing! Omelet station, fresh coffee, all types of bread, meat, fruit and yogurt. Excellent!!
Cons: Be prepared to spend a LOT of money! The dinner buffet is $40 per person. Although the food was delicious, it got a little pricey for a family of 6. Go into La Fortuna for some more affordable options.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: The hot springs make it worth the price. We stayed for one night, but enjoyed two days on the hot springs and pools. We absolutely loved it and recommend it.
Cons: Do not expect great food. Both breakfast and dinner were highly overpriced for the quality. Dinner was so disappointing, we spent about $100 for two entrees, one appetizer and two beers, but the ribeye was could barely edible, and the special nothing to brag about. They also offer a buffet by the pool for $39/person, which we didn't try. Breakfast for $25/person was also a rip off considering I only enjoyed the fruits and yogurt. The rest of the buffet was not great, so I barely touched it. They need to invest in better food in my opinion...
9,6 Excellent
Pros: everything looks so natural, it felt like paradise! the spa is amazing, quite expensive through... stuff is really friendly and roomservice super quick. for the first night they will bring you a “pillow refresher” which really smells good and helps you sleep. The whole hot spring area is huge, so you will always find a quiet place, latest at the shangrila part which is for hotel members only.
Cons: The hotsprings are open until 10pm which is super! but there are almost no light so it is pretty dangerous. there are also NO lifeguards and many children are playing on their own without someone looking after them. drinks are also expensive especially for the hotel guest who already pay a lot of money they could have at least add a “free water station” or something like that.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Superb service. Amazing hot springs.
Cons: Nothing. It was all great
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The surroundings were beautiful with the volcano as the backdrop. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Shuttle service to spa and springs was very timely.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Ultra luxury accommodations if u choose the Rainforest room. What makes this place extra special is the Shangri-La, the exclusive hotel guests only portion of the thermal spa. Can't wait to go there again!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Room was gorgeous and extremely comfortable, with the right feel of isolation. The private hot springs right next to the hotel were more than amazing!
Cons: The hotel's restaurant was quite awful for dinner, but breakfast was a delight

Pros: Amazing staff, lovely premises, delicious food, overall i loved my stay
9,6 Excellent
Pros: This is the best hotel that I stayed in Costa Rica. The manager was extremely friendly and always on top of everything. The hot tub was really really nice. The breakfast tasted really good. The room was extremely high quality. The location is amazing. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
Cons: The room service options weren't that amazing. I wish the restaurant would expand that menu a bit more. Also, there are a bunch of smaller mineral pool areas behind the bar. That seemed a bit dirty to me.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful property, great location, beautiful place and wonderful people and staff.
Cons: Nothing
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very customer-centric, convenient to fun activities, interesting tours, and good restaurants
Cons: Breakfast and coffee not available until 6:30. Activities have early start times so breakfast at least by 6 would be better
10,0 Excellent
Pros: SPA with external swimmingpools, kindness of the staff, position, rooms.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Pretty much everything. Restaurant and tours might be a little pricey but that’s the norm in this kind of hotels in Costa Rica I guess. Excellent service. Nice pool area with bar in the real hot thermal pool.
Cons: I can’t find anything.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. The staff is really friendly and efficient. Excellent breakfast. Incredible thermal pools with volcano views. Pool bar is reasonably priced and serves good food.
Cons: The only complaint would be that they could not accommodate us an hour before check in time although the hotel was almost empty.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Facilities were excellent, service was prompt and the local white water rafting a highlight of our Holiday. Highly recommended.
Cons: As three families traveling together the ONLY negative of our stay was the two hour long delay at check-out due to a complete failing of the Hotel to charge each family for their room and associated charges on three separate credit cards (that we had provided at check-in). The result of which led to a 10 day wait for the total charge (for all three families) to be credited to my credit card (after we finally managed to split the bill and pay seperately on leaving). What should have been a simple transaction of any Hotel, delayed our onward journey by two hours and ended what should have and could have been a faultless stay.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Literally did not want to leave. I highly recommend this place!

Pros: Amazing views, excellent facilities and great staff!!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the quiet atmosphere and peaceful surroundings of the rainforest. Each Villa has 2 rooms in each building and is set apart from the other villas, so it feels very private. The rooms were very clean and have a beautiful view of Arenal Volcano, the shower walls are tiled with volcanic rock which is very lovely - there is a slight openness between the wall and roof of the shower allowing fresh air in, but that also means that a few bugs and humidity can get in - not necessarily a big deal, in fact kind of charming and a nice natural element to the ambiance, but it did take some getting used to for "city folks" from the States. :) The 3 restaurants were very nice. Had a good variety of options: Costa Rican food, Italian food, Sushi and Japanese food. The hot springs were great!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The shuttles came at requests not on a cycle. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and well labeled. Great view of Arenal
Cons: Not much to dislike at all. I didn’t have time to try the spa. Next time I guess.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The staff is amazing and will do anything for you and the hot springs were wonderful!
Cons: The beds were hard and the food was good but not great.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Friendly staff always smiling and catering to your needs. Rooms cleaned everyday and made welcoming. Conveniently located to nearby attractions.
Cons: Few coffee choices in room. Ants raided our food one time.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location for Arenal Springs is incredible, we had the perfect view of the volcano from our apartment. The springs are so good and the whole resort is perfectly relaxing. The standout element though are the staff, from the time we arrived to the moment we left everyone was amazing. Adam in the restaurant is a perfect example of the kindness and hospitality that you can expect from Costa Ricans, a true gentleman.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: I cannot say enough about our stay at the Volcano Lodge and Springs. We booked it because the rainy season rates were hard to pass up and because 95% of previous guests rated it Excellent. The room rates were so low that I wondered if the ratings could be true...but I have never had more good things to share about a hotel experience! We stayed in a superior room with an amazing view of Arenal from our porch. The property is designed so that the view from your patio makes you feel like you are at a private villa. All we saw before us was Arenal and lush vegetation. There were people next to us but we never saw or heard them. You couldn't even see where the cars were parked. It was almost total solitude. The room was attractive and clean. The beds were comfortable. The shower was always warm. Our room was only a short walk from the main pool and mineral springs which was a pleasant surprise. Others will have to walk further but the grounds are so nice that the walk is like a stroll in a garden. I read some reviews that the breakfast was adequate but nothing special. I have no idea what they were talking about! To me it was a wonderful daily brunch. We stayed 4 nights and looked forward to each morning. Most food items stayed the same but how can you complain about having fresh bananas, pineapple, papaya, and watermelon, three different breads for toasting, pancakes, scrambled eggs, rice and beans, sweet plantains, lunch meat and cheese, a waffle station and made to order egg station with 6 toppings for omelets, OJ and Mango / Banana juice, and coffee to pick from? There were also two breakfast breads each day that varied and one or two different Costa Rican hot items each day that included small sausages, chicken or sausages in a creamy tomato sauce, and several types of what they called "hash"…potato based one time and green bean based another. To top it off, the restaurant has a great view of Arenal and the pool / mineral springs area and an attentive and cheerful staff. They even attached their old bananas to a nearby tree each morning to attract birds! The pool was clean and the mineral springs area very relaxing. They just added a second hot springs and bar. The grounds are filled with beautiful plants and fruit trees with a running / walking nature trail that they are just getting going. It was a bit confusing but we loved it…especially watching the intricate world of leaf cutting ants! Bottom line...you will love this place!

Pros: Wonderful hotel, nice view of the volcano, great staff
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great thermal experience, great location and great breakfast!
Cons: Pricy restaurant, compared to others in the area.

Cons: Nothing. Everything was great!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The location was incredible. Thermal room was fantastic with a thermal pool in the most picturesque setting.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: great hotel with rooms very clean and everything well organized. Various Breakfast.
Cons: Hotel asked us a deposit on credit card for any breakage in the room. I strongly disagree these rules.....everyone asking for deposits....the customer who has already paid (not little) seems to be considered as one who can break something in the room .... it seems you do not trust .... I expect more trust considered I have already paid a considerable amount. should remove this unnecessary nuisance ... everyone asks for deposits .... for hotels and cars and tourists then can not spend!!!!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property and fantastic thermal pools. Food was great and staff was very friendly
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Hotsprings, rooms and food was amazing! Best location to travel around Arsenal.
Cons: Honestly I can’t come up with anything that needed improvement. Fantastic!

Cons: No where to buy snacks onsite.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Wow, What an amazing hotel. Very high class, everything is spotless, the hotel facilities are amazing, especially the Thermal pools, which are open until 3am(!!). Excellent breakfast, great parking in front of the room, kind staff, just amazing. We decided to stay one more night after the first two. Your can't go wrong with this hotel..
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is set in stunning scenery and the grounds are fantastic it has been very well thought through. Very friendly helpful staff and easy to find. They served some delicious cocktails and they were always made to perfection! I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.
Cons: The only thing that let it down was That the food wasn't really that great. We had different steaks both nights and both times they were over cooked and tough. The breakfast is a buffet and again could just use a bit more attention.
Arenal Observatory Lodge & Spa - La Fortuna - Bedroom

Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff in the restaurant. Great views on the surroundings. We really liked the trails they have set out on their own property, as well as the museum containing interesting info about volcanoes. The jacuzzi was also a big plus.
Cons: The room has a coffee machine but they do not refill the coffee on second day. As the nearest shop is nowhere near, this is not very practical. We would recommend this location only if you have your own rental car.
9,4 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds were amazing and we loved that we had access to the National Park trails. The Jacuzzi was a nice treat after a long day of hiking. The views were breath-taking! Access to other activities was relatively easy but the roads are not great. Town was about a 30 minute drive away. Nice breakfast buffet provided free of charge!
Cons: It would be nice to have screens on the front doors as well so you could have both the patio door (which had a screen) and front door open to allow a cross-breeze. The room became a bit stuffy and buggy during the day without this. Also it would be good if t pool was heated to allow swimming year round. The prices for food at the restaurant were expensive. The Happy Hour (2 for 1) would be better if they allowed for 2 different drinks vs. 2 of the same kind of drink. Finally a shuttle to town that ran even just 3 times a day would be a great perk!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We loved having so many hikes/walks to do right on the property and a very good restaurant as well. It was so nice having nature and animals outside our door each day. The staff was warm, welcoming, helpful and friendly. There were plenty of activities to do on the grounds for all ages: pool, foosball/game room, checkers, books, TVs in the main buildings and a hot tub.
Cons: Be aware that the Lodge is a 20-25 minute drive from La Fortuna up a somewhat rough dirt road. If you have your own vehicle it's easy to get to and from, but without a bit more challenging. There are taxis that cost $30 each way or a shuttle 3x/day from the lodge.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful and well taken care of. The staff are so welcoming and wonderful.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was quiet and hidden away in paradise! The landscape, accommodations, food and guest service was incredible! Wildlife and hiking trails fantastic! Outstanding swimming pool and hot tub where we stared at the stars!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Perhaps another restaurant to choose from.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location, it was right on the beach, nestled between Mal Pais and Santa Theresa-a 10-15 minute walk on the beach or a few minutes drive. Because it was off season, we enjoyed the place to ourselves, but can imagine that it would still be nice at capacity- with only a few other rooms it’s more Like a villa. Our room was nicely designed, very spacious- similar to the main areas, full of rich dark wood furnishings and colorful tiles. The breakfast was simple, which was fine for us- we loved the fresh fruit every morning. Laura was a gracious host and made sure we were comfortable. Everything was spotless every day. I would recommend a 4wd car to arrive and get around or renting an ATV.
Cons: The beds were on the form side, but we found this to be typical on our stay in Costa Rica.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We booked this as the conclusion to our Costa Rica trip and we were not disappointed! The location has the best views of Arenal, and is where other tours come as well. We appreciated staying there so we could get early morning and sunset views. Outside of the location for viewing, we appreciated all of the easy trails that were located within the private park. The morning walk with Christian was amazing. We were able to see lots of wildlife and the waterfall. The bird’s nest is an amazing experience not to be skipped! At the front desk Marta was so helpful guiding us through options of activities. We appreciated that there were lots of options outside or just lounging around the pool/hot tub and enjoying the sights, and being unplugged! (There are no TVs in the rooms and internet is only available in the main areas.) I thoroughly enjoyed the spa, which had jungle views and had an amazing massage by Mirigina. The restaurant was convenient and had a nice selection. We appreciated Yarljng’s service after dinner and then making sure we didn’t go hungry even with a very early departure. This place lives up to everything it says it is.
Cons: The roads getting there aren’t paved-having a proper vehicle and driving during the day make things much easier.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: - Large, spacious and clean rooms - Beautiful view from room - Awesome sunset view over lake from the restaurant deck and bar - Excellent birding opportunities - Great breakfast - Lots of nature trails - Colorful frogs at the frog pond - Highly recommend for nature lovers
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. They helped us organize tours and transportation. One staff member went above and beyond to make sure we were able to join our tour after a miscommunication. The grounds are beautiful! There are trails on the property that make for an amazing independent hike. I really enjoyed my stay here!
Cons: Our stay was great!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Our guide Christian was amazing. We did 2 trips with him. The view of the volcano and the animals was amazing.

Pros: Epic view from the restaurant to see the volcano!

Pros: Good location, nice volcano view, exotic and romantic place! Nice and pleasant staff members.
Cons: There was a renovation/reconstruction on one of the buildings and it was making a lot of terrible noise from very early in the morning. They started at 7 am every morning Very uncomfortable pillows.

Pros: Every thing
2,9 Mediocre
Pros: The breakfast was decent.
Cons: The place is a dump!!! Roof is leaking, the hall access areas were wet and slippery, the hot tub didn't was, the casino advertised on your site was closed and boarded up, the pool area pavers were covered in dirt, wet, and so slick you could barely walk across them to get the the breakfast area. I've traveled every year for 3-4 months a year since 1979, and this is one of the most poorly operated and maintained hotel I've ever stayed. In addition; I paid in full non refundable thru priceline.com and showed my receipt and confirmation number, but when I checked out the following day, the manager insisted I pay again because they had not been paid by priceline.
7,1 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good and a lovely setting.
Cons: The room we had was very small for the price we paid.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was a great stay! We have been upgraded for free as the hotel was not fully booked during low season! It was awesome. Charismatic and modern hotel with nice staff, beautiful, clean and comfortable bungalows, tropical gardens across the whole property and a fantastic location with great view of the volcano. The staff also took care of all tour bookings for us. It definitely deserves more than 3 stars!! We had an fantastic time and would always prefer this hotel in case of coming back!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location is good, close to both La Fortuna center and hot springs/natural parks area. The short unpaved access to the hotel is not a trouble at all. Rooms are single units, so very quite and silent. It is completely immersed in the nature with nice animals living close to you. Beds are very comfortable and the private balcony very cosy. Bathrooms are very spacy and clean. Breafast is meeting any taste, great variety of fresh food. Personell is friendly and helpful.
Cons: Swimming pool is a bit small, but more than enough if you plan to spend your time in the tipical local activities like hiking and hot springs attending.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the pool of hot springs overlooking the Arenal Volcano. I also liked the variety of cocktails at the pool bar.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is located perfectly, in the middle of the main attractions. We loved that basically each room was completely private, surrounded by luxurious vegetation. Everything in the room and on the property is natural, very little plastic and nothing looks cheap. The hot springs are awesome and one could relax there after a day of exploration. The property is maintained extremely well, it is spot clean, staff is extremely friendly. We got complememtary fresh fruits platter 2 days in a row. The coffee in the room is awesome. If you need something and you call front desk they will send what you need in less than 5 minutes. The restaurant is really great, fine dining in the area. Fresh food for all meals with basically everything natural. Another reviewer called this property "a hidden gen" and I completely agree. The pictures on most of the websites don't do real justice to the place.
Cons: They did not have a gym.

Pros: This was our first stop in Costa Rica and we were looking for something with a view of the volcano which they provided. We had a double deluxe room that was extremely spacious with an excellent bathroom. The pool are was an added bonus in the heat. A buffet style Costa Rican breakfast was provided each morning which was great for filling up before hiking or other activities. The staff were very helpful. We arrived early on check in day and they allowed us to use the facilities until our room was ready. Location was great for access to La Fortuna and for activities in the surrounding area. We used Uber taxis for the majority of our stay which were excellent.
Cons: More loungers by the pool for the number of guests.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, clean
Cons: Everything looks good
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The staff here is what really makes this place amazing. Friendly, helpful, and go out of their way to help their guests. The rooms although dated are SUPER CLEAN. Margarita at the front desk was amazing.
Cons: The wifi was non existent for our stay. We have to work remotely during the week, and the spotty wifi made this nearly impossible. It had a high wifi review, so we booked this place. Unfortunately it may have worked for an hour a day if that. The restaurant is highly priced for sub par food. It was definitely quantity over quality. Be advised to check the weather forecast. We got a room with a view of the volcano, yet the weather was so foggy , we were never actually able to see it. Not the hotels fault, but if you pay extra to have a view of it, you might just opt for something cheaper with out a view.

Pros: Breakfast was great!!! Staff was friendly and courteous!! The hotel was really great, and the view of the volcano and the vegetation on the premises were very beautiful!!
9,6 Excellent

Pros: Perfect view on the Vulcano and the nicest staff I’ve ever met
Cons: Pool is much smaller than it looks like on the pictures

Pros: It is an eco-friendly place. You have to insert your room key into the wall for the electricity to work. When you leave you take your key meaning no lights or fans will be on while you’re gone!

Pros: Comfortable beds, the restaurant was really good. Great wildlife, especially birds right there on the grounds. We would definitely stay there again.
Cons: There really was nothing not to like.

Pros: Loved the little huts for the room. The showers had wonderful water pressure and were hot and steamy. Room service was on point.
Cons: Nothing.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast for free! Our waiter, Jose was especially friendly and helpful. He learned and remembered all of our names. Impressive!
Cons: Very shallow pool. great for little kids, but not so much for adults. Bugs in the bathroom, but, hey, this is Costa Rica: we have more at home!

Pros: Pool and hot tub were nice. Beautiful volcano views. Lots of privacy. Nice attention to detail. Great restaurant on property. Close to all attractions. Great free breakfast!

Pros: Breakfast was excellent. Location great! Even though out of town, convenient five minute drive to to town.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Spring, Gardens, layout
Cons: Kids who think the small pools are swimming pools. There are several large pools for swimming yet children were repeatedly coming to smaller, tranquil pools, shouting, splashing and raising hell. Just being kids, but upper, smaller pools should be designated adults only.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Pools and slides, plus the amazing volcano view!
Cons: Rooms were simple - could have been slightly updated. But very comfortable.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: Pools, breakfast, tours
9,0 Excellent
Pros: I like the beautiful view from any room. The volcano making us the day at the morning and the most importante thing the restaurant, the pools and there’s some kind of zoo were you can see very beautifuls animals.
Cons: I don’t have anything to say because this hotel is wonderful!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is an amazing place to take a rest and enjoy family time. I be back soon.
Cons: Full of nature and peace.
4,0 Okay
Pros: The great view of the volcano. Grounds were kept in good condition.
Cons: Rooms need to be upgraded. No as clean as they should be for the price charged per night. The hot spring pools need a major over haul. This resort is not a good value for ones money. Rooms were booked 4 persons in each but made service each day only set up a two queen bed room for 1 person ( 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel, 1 wash cloth ) each day including check in had to call to get extra supplies for all persons in the room. Then wait 2-3 hours for supplies to arrive
7,9 Good
Pros: Location and overall concept.
Cons: No WiFi in the rooms, poor organization of towel allocation, thin walls.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Clean and confortable rooms. Great facilities and location.
Cons: There is no WiFi in the rooms. One of the water slides (the biggest) was closed.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: View of volcano was beautiful. The thermal springs were relaxing. We had a good time.
Cons: Some of the prices were hiked up. They made a mistake with our billing, so pay attention when checking out.
7,1 Good
Pros: Good place to relax, nice food. Excellent breakfast with a big variety.
Cons: No wifi on the rooms, sad in 2019! Furnishing rather old. Lobby staff could be friendlier. We would stay somewhere else next time and visit the pools with a day-pass. The whole place is for sure made for wealthy tourists.
7,5 Good
Pros: The price was good. The room had a refrigerator. They have trails for walking.
Cons: For the rooms that are far from the restaurant and the pools, nobody tells you there is transportation and what are the schedules. The chance mi charge to Colones without asking.

Pros: Nice and clean room, great pool with 4 little pools that have different temperatures. Check out is only at noon so we spent a few hours in the sunny morning by the pool. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. Too bad the arenal vulcano was not visible from our room (or from most other rooms and areas). Seemed like they could make it visible quite easily!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was lovely, particularly the Luna Junior Suite which was very large and had it's own little private terrace and back garden where you could view an amazing array of birds and butterflies. The bathroom was also very large with soft cosy robes, close to the pool and the selection of jacuzzis of different temperatures. The restaurant was very nice with excellent service and a great view of lots of different birds who were attracted to the nearby bird feeder. I don't think there was anywhere to eat close to the hotel but we had a car so it was not a problem. We also enjoyed an excellent double massage and treated to a glass of bubbly at the end of it.
Cons: We had an excellent dinner the first night and enjoyed it so much that we went back for a second dinner which was not nearly as good. However, overall the food, service and attention to detail was very good.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Beds and room itself were great. The pools were just fun and relaxing at the same time. Breakfast and dinner were good though breakfast was missing some refill at certain times and you had to ask for coffee several times. They have an own little trail where I saw the first sloth without hiring a guide. Some basiliks and quite some birds around. The hotel is close to the waterfalls and easy to reach by car.
Cons: At breakfast times it was busy and personnel was a little bit understaffed. They remained very friendly and helpful at the same time.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: I loved everything about this hotel. We previously had a bad experience at a hotel we were due to stay at and booked this hotel last minute. From the minute we arrived I loved it, staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are huge with dressing room and walk in shower. Has aircon, hot water and a lovely veranda which came in handy on a rainy day. Views from the bedrooms were lovely. Beds were comfortable and room was tastefully decorated. Loved the pool and hot tubs which we spent a lot of time in when not out on tours. The cocktails were made with fresh ingredients and the food was lovely I can highly recommend the fish and cordon bleh, very big portions and decent prices. The housekeeper cleans daily and created lovely animals out of towels. The local trail was lovely.
Cons: Absolutely nothing !!!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant is amazing, reasonable price but very good presentation and taste!
Cons: There is no WiFi in the room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place! all is clean, gardens are amazing, The warm pools are beautiful and so nice to be there! Recommended! The restaurant is also very good!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The small hot pools were great after a day trekking the jungle and the cocktails were a treat after surviving white water rafting and zip lining! The staff were lovely and the hotel gardens beautiful so all I all a fabulous place to stay.
Cons: We had a room with 2 double beds and it was quite small for 4 of us but it was adequate.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel grounds are stunning with a trail down to a river! We had a beautiful room with balcony where we were able to bird watch and see the volcano. The pool and jacuzzi are fantastic and very relaxing. Its also very close to the town. We loved it so much we extended our stay.
Cons: We liked almost everything at the hotel except for the restaurant food. Breakfast was average, however they did assist in catering to my dietary requirements. You also aren't able to take your own drinks to the pool area and it was quite noisy as our room backed on to the main road.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Jacuzzis were amazing, super relaxing and great setting in the lush grounds. Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Nice breakfast (enjoyed the egg/omelette station).
Cons: Room had noise from apartment above and some noise from restaurant live music (although was Saturday night). Wifi didnt work in rooms. No tea making facilities in room.
7,5 Good
Pros: The Ressort is nicely located outside of La Fortuna, only a 5min UBER ride (1500 - 2000 CRC) away! So you can easily have dinner in the town! The room was nice! A clean and very spacious room with a good view of the volcano! :) The pool area, the hot spring tubs and the Spa was nice as well. It’s a bigger resort, so very different to smaller facilities which are run by the owner - probably good to know upfront!
Cons: - the rooms are poorly soundproofed, 2/3 days there where 3 small children and their mothers in the room next to us...it was almost like they where running, screaming and playing in our room - one day at 9h AM the staff started to clean the roof with a high pressure cleaner...SERIOUSLY?? You can imagine how relaxing this is! That was close to torture! Why not doing this over noon, when guests are on trips or at the pool area? - the restaurant wasn’t offering the regular breakfast buffet, since there where not many guests beside us! It was ok but not as promoted. Quality wise, it was more on the lower end of breakfasts during our 14days in Costa Rica, ok‘ish but not a single thing which stand-out positively! - the room is spacious, but also quite empty. There are not much options to put your stuff! Also we only had one nightstand for a large bed (after us finding alternative solutions like putting the luggage tray next to the bed to place books, mobiles etc. on it, they finally gave us a second nightstand for our last night - so we had one left and one right from the bed..as you would expect it)! - The room (Luna Junior Suite) was quite dark insight and to bring some light into it, you needed to push 8 different light switches! Every single one might sound picky but all together, it just wasn’t the relaxing experience we were looking for when booking a Junior Suite at a „Hotel & SPA“ resort! Disappointing!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The resort was a beautiful setting lots of greenery and a very friendly and accommodating staff. Had a plumbing problem first day but it was quickly resolved. Food was good and location was close to town but still tucked away.
9,1 Excellent
Pros: The place is beautiful. The pool and hot tubs are great. When we checked in we took advantage of the special at the spa. The spa is amazing the massage was fine but the location is unbelievable, the room was open on one side facing the jungle and river I have never been to a spa before where the nature sounds were real and not played through speakers.
Cons: It's the jungle do you have to expect some bugs. There were tiny ants everywhere at the resort they did not bother anything but seeing ants crawl through the room lowers the cleanliness score to 4 stars. That being said I would stay here again in a heartbeat even with the ants.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The view of our room was incredible to the vulcano Staff super nice Great breakfast Shuttle free for all places inside the hotel Hot pool and happy hour
Cons: There was no Wi-Fi in the first day but the staff solved the problem after. We also asked for a package of romantic spa and dinner both at the room, dinner was amazing however the massage not so great. Besides that all perfect
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely grounds, great staff, the restaurant options are a little limited and the food is fine if a little basic, but tasted good and decent portions. They do charge extra if you want a cappuccino at breakfast which was irritating.
Cons: The place is a little dated and the bathrooms esp are quite old but you have to be mindful of where you are. Fine in that respect but obv very different from a city hotel. Good breakfast too. Lots of options.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds and is right in the rainforest. Amazing staff. Delicious food. Very helpful at booking tours and transportation
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing views and trails through the rainforest.
Cons: Beautiful location, set in and surrounded by beautiful rainforest. Hummingbirds aplenty and woke to a stunning view of the volcano. Pools were lovely, one of which was heated, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast included was great. Additional food and drink weren't cheap but the quality was ok. We got a deal for around $90 per night including breakfast and it was well worth it. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: - Location - super helpful and friendly staff - hot Pool (24 hour Open!) - mountain view from the room amazing (Arenal) - hotel Trail! - Red eyed tree frog just in front of the room!

Pros: Right in the centre of town, close to a range of restaurants. Large room and nice hot water in the bathroom. Coffee on tap all day. Good breakfast next to swimming pool. The different towel arrangements each day were quite amusing. Easy parking. Bonus is being able to go to Hot Springs in sister hotel.
Cons: Rooms could do with a little tlc.

Pros: Staff was Awesome and friendly(besides that one bolky front desk employee), Great Breakfast, free coffee, hot springs at the sister resort, location. Happy I didn't let this employee ruin my stay on the second day as I stayed 4 day's and it was Great.
Cons: Front desk big guy was very rude and angry, my friends came to pick me up and I asked him if they can use the bathroom as he replied very angrly no they not allowed to b here as that turned out to b a lie as guests are allowed to visit tell 10pm.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location. Acess to hot springs. Availabity of the front desk
Cons: Ants everywhere

Pros: Bird watching tour - the location. Not good. Flop Rana Night tour good. But almost double expensive when comparing with other local tour companies Celeste tour good
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff and an amazing location right next to the main square but in a quiet block. The room was nice and comfy and the hot water functional which is always a top point. The free access to the hot springs!
Cons: One night the power went off and the A/C didn’t work which made that night of sleep a Complete nightmare. Was raining heavily that day so I assume it was The reason so it was ok
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very welcoming, pleasant and friendly. The room was very comfortable, air conditioning worked beautifully and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great. Great variety of food, fresh and natural juices. Local tastes. We arrived late for breakfast as they were closes down and one of the cooks was nice enough to come over and ask us if we wanted fresh eggs and she prepared them for us. We had 2 rooms with 2 double/queen beds. We would stay again!
Cons: I really can't say anything bad. The only thing that was a little different was we didn't have hand towels for the shower. But I understand that I am just use to using hand towels in the shower being from the US and many other countries may not use them. This is more of a personal preference, than anything, and I personally would not hold it against the property. Sometimes it's nice to break away from the norm. :)
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The free use of hot springs at the sister facility 7 miles away. The breakfast buffet was great with lots of delicious options. Around the corner from downtown. 24 hour security + in room safe.
7,9 Good
Pros: Location was good, access to the sister hotel's hot springs was good (be warned - it isn't exactly close by...) And they also packed me a breakfast on the day I left as I was leaving at 6am.
Cons: A minor point but the water kept changing from hot to cold.

Pros: The landscaping and view of volcano absolutely breathtaking. The buffet breakfast was very tasty.
Cons: Our roof leaked, the on site restaurant was very expensive.

Pros: Kind staff. Good location. Very good breakfast. Nice hot springs and pool area. Fantastic views. Fair value for money.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location and room
Cons: WiFi was really bad and the food was average
2,5 Mediocre
Pros: Gardens are very nice pool area just ok volcano views good
Cons: BEWARE This is not a European 5 star standard hotel - it does charge that way though Generally shabby condition and staff just ok some good some not More like a 3 star and the dining area is terrible more like 2 star Overpriced generally but especially for food Buffet is awful quality and extortionate price They don’t seem to particularly care judging by the standard response they provide to these sort of reviews
8,8 Excellent
Pros: We opted for this resort as a more affordable option instead of The Springs resort. 5 stars for the rooms: amazing view of Arenal volcano, nice, spacious, super clean rooms, big bathrooms, comfy beds, friendly and helpful staff, nice gardens.
Cons: - restaurant food is mediocre at best (too salty) and definitely overpriced. Had a great meal in La Fortuna at Soda Viquez and paid for a family of 4 the same as one entree at the hotel restaurant! - pillows not comfortable - hot springs did not seem too clean. They offer a free shuttle to a different resort with hot springs but we chose not to do it. Instead, we bought a day pass to The Springs resort and spent a day there - highly recommend - what an amazing hotel with great hot springs and a bunch of activities right on premises. - our room was really far from the lobby and the path to the room was barely lit at night. We had to use our phone flash lights to be able to see where we were going.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Wow, this hotel is just amazing! Location is superb, all rooms facing the beautiful Arenal volcano. Rooms are huge, have jacuzzi and beautiful views of the rainforest. The gardens are just stunning, well maintained plants. Hot springs are amazing, very relaxing after a long day of hiking. Breakfast is great! Staff is very nice, the place is so quiet and relaxing. I can't find anything that did not meet our expectations. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
Cons: That we had to leave this beautiful piece of paradise.
7,1 Good
Pros: The size of the room was nice, especially great to see Volcano through the doors! I liked having a spa in the room as an option.
Cons: I didn’t like the lighting, there were too few options to light up the room. To make matters worse, we walked into a hotel room with open windows near the shower which allowed several bugs, mosquitos, grasshoppers and spiders to create a home. It did not feel like we could relax in this hotel room.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Amazingly beautiful property! Almost private hot springs on premises. Off the main road so completely secluded. Great buffet breakfast. Amazing family room with jacuzzi. We loved this hotel and property. Great views. Highly recommended.

Pros: Great view of the volcano.
Cons: The thermal pools were not hot. The cleaning staff did not clean the room properly. The did electrical work while we were the and we had to leave our room. The office staff was also the wait staff for breakfast so no business could be conducted in the morning. The rooms were not well lit. You could not see your self in the bathroom mirror. This place does not match the elegance portrayed in its web site. You really need a car to stay here.

Pros: Nice pool and wet bar, beautiful view on the Vulcano, very nice and attending staff, very big and nice rooms.

Cons: Most of the staff was very kind and friendly. But on our last day there was an unfriendly waiter who more or less ignored us.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Check in process was easy and efficient. Room was big and comfortable.
Cons: Bar area at pool had really loud music and a bartender who did not his trade. I had to show him which glass was for martinis.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast buffet exceeded espectations! Staff all super friendly.
Cons: A mini fridge in the to would have made it 100%
6,8 Good
Pros: The location is without a doubt beautiful- however you can tell the resort needs some updating. Simple things like softer lighting, modern decorations, and new furniture in common areas would truly make this place a five star hotel. That aside, the pool/bar area is beautiful, and worth spending the time at. The rooms are huge, with amazing shower/waterfall built in. Private balconies give a sense of exlcusiveness and general feeling of getting away.
Cons: Only bar/snack area onsite didn't open until 6pm. The main restaurant food was not very good, which is unfortunate because it's where the free breakfast came from. We needed staff to come turn the private room jacuzzi on and off (which they did right away, so that's a perk), and again, just a general outdated feel in the main areas.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: nice breakfast area / pool-bar (thermal water) with view at Arenal
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, the place is nice, the room is big, the jacuzzi is a nice detail, the bathroom with its mini waterfall. The pool is nice as well.

Pros: The hotel is close to the Volcan
Cons: First, we had a problem with that booking site helped us to solve. Because the hotel requested us to pay to stay with our dogs, and when we made the reservation shows pet allowed without costs. We paid for a standard bungalow but when we arrived it was necessary to change the room because always we find insects and the hotel said that is normal. My wife has an allergy and I traveled with two dogs, the solution was paid more 60 USD to change our room. I never go back to this hotel, they only think in money, for example, to request a room service you need to pay 8 USD additional for it and the restaurant is close to the rooms. The tour in the hotel is very expensive, I found a website tour with at least 50% less.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything here was incredible! We came for our honeymoon & they made us feel like kings & queens!!! We did everything they offered & their hospitality is above & beyond!
4,8 Okay
Pros: View only
Cons: The bed was too bad.
8,3 Excellent
Cons: Our AC was broke. Very hot in our room
7,1 Good
Pros: The staff was great - muy amable and very helpful. Room was nice, not super, and I caution future bookers. Some very expensive rooms offer occluded views of Arenal or power lines and a noisy road in front of the unit.
Cons: We were very disappointed with the condition of the grounds - leaves all over the place and many plants/shrubs in desperate need of trimming. Swimming pools were very clean but the hot pools were not clean and there was feces in the lower pool. Disgusting to say the least. This was not what we were expecting and not what we have experienced in comparable hotels in the area. Breakfast was great but dinner was a disappointment. Overcooked and dry tuna and shrimp. Pricey even for this type of hotel.
7,1 Good
Pros: Nice view. Loved the pool area.
Cons: The bungalow needed some maintenance and we could hear the neighbours as if they were on our room. Staff in the restaurant not friendly at all.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome hot natural pools, nice spa, the views from the volcano, great breakfast and staff was super dedicated
Cons: Some paths leading to the bungalows were a bit too dark at night.
8,2 Excellent
Pros: The pool, thermal springs and reataurant were fantastic to have on site. The view of the volcano was spectacular. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Cons: Standard bungalows we and our friends had were a bit tired. Water pressure was not particularly good and could have done with more/brighter light bulbs.
4,2 Okay
Pros: They had a good breakfast in the morning. They also have beautiful grounds and landscaping.
Cons: The minute you check in you have someone sit you down to try to sell you on all the extras they offer, such as spa packages, excursions, etc. They asked for my credit card to put on file and I declined. Don't want to listen to a sales pitch when I check in. The bathroom was very outdated and kinda gross. The tub had a crack in it so I'm sure there is mold growing underneath. The shower had no shower curtain, which was different and was only an issue because the bath has a window and no curtain over the window either! The window views out onto the main highway, so at night all of Arenal can see you shower. Lovely. The sink also had cracks in the basin. Overall, pretty disappointed. I was expecting a mid-range hotel, but it was very run down. We paid $185 for the superior bungalow and for what we experienced I thought it was way over priced. More like $100 a night room. I wouldn't recommend this place in it's current condition.
7,9 Good
Pros: We really really liked the breakfast. They have a delicious breakfast. The hotel grounds are very lovely, the gardens, the views to the Volcano. The hike around the trails. The staff is very friendly.
Cons: Our mattress sunk in the middle, and the pillows were uncomfortable. We woke up at 6am to go bird watching with the Guide. When we got there, no one showed up (No Guide). The Mineral water pools, are lukewarm (not really HOT Springs). So it's better if you stay here when the weather is cold. We like La Fortuna because of the Hot Springs, and this place doesn't have that.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything there was brilliant.
Cons: I can’t say anything.
7,9 Good
Pros: The tours attached to the property were great! The hot springs and spa were also amazing!
Cons: I felt we got the wrong room and it was not a nice as we had hoped. The shower barely worked until someone came to fix it and NO AC. It was not bad but it was amazing.

Pros: Great location, not in the bustle of town but a comfortable walk. Great restaurants nearby and a supermarket across the road.
Cons: Bed bugs. Internet didn’t work.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very friendly, Melania, the owner is very friendly, ask her about the local activities, she'll give you a lot of information.
Cons: In the windows in the second floor rooms there's not a secure, it could be dangerous for small kids, they could fall
6,3 Good
Pros: It was nice to be close to great food and the people were very friendly. Air conditioner was great but no lamps just overhead lights, and extremely noisy from the main road traffic, certainly not the hotel's fault.
Cons: Expensive for the type of room. We paid 118 US dollars per night and could be best described as a little "gritty". Beds were good, pillows not so much., so bring your own if possible.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Well located, clean, friendly staff. Good for our family of 4.
Cons: Bit loud, as it is on a busy street, but have found that somewhat common in CR
9,6 Excellent
Cons: The parking lot is opened without security
6,7 Good
Pros: Excellent breakfast! Good view of the volcano. Nice garden and swimming pool.
Cons: Rooms too close to the main street. The bathrooms need some attention, especially the corners with mould. The towels are too small.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: I like the breakfast, which is next to the hotel. There is a store across the road and other restaurants close by. It's 2 km from La Fotuna, but I had no problem walking to town. I visited the new sloth park just before town. You have a view of Arenal Volcano from your room.
7,5 Good
Pros: The pool is great. Although the weather in La Fortuna is unpredictable, if you do get a sunny morning it’s a great way to relax at the start of the day. The staff were also friendly and helpful.
Cons: The location mostly. The property is on the road which means there is constant noise from the street. Also, it’s neither in La Fortuna nor properly in nature. So if you’re without a car like we were you’re not close enough to either and moving around is difficult. The toilets also were clogged often. Breakfast is very basic.

Pros: Friendly husband and wife owners who ran the place were honest, informative, and accommodating. Very helpful in booking tours and shuttles. They gave us good deals, better than online offers! They shared good stories about the area. As fellow Californians, they spoke perfect English and made us feel at ease. Great value for the price. We extended our stay here, since we found it relaxing and liked the town of La Fortuna. The property sits on the edge of town, quiet but downtown is only a $3 taxi ride. You do wake up to the chatter of birds, which is quite refreshing. Restaurants and grocery store were walking distance. Taxis were readily available. The Sloth Park is just a mile down the road. Relatively good sized room. Bed sheets were always clean. Bathroom had strong hot water. Although some face towels would've been useful. A/C was powerful... my wife loved it. We enjoyed our kitchenette. Good TV and strong free Wifi. I would definitely recommend this place to couples and families traveling on a budget.
Cons: Curtains were a bit thin, that we felt we could be seen from the outside.
6,7 Good
Pros: Friendly staff. Convenient, affordable. Has a mini fridge. We were only there one night so can't add more than that. Hot shower. Car park is off the street.
Cons: A bit dreary, old furnishings. Clean but older.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: It was very comfortable to be on the main road, a supermarket is only 350 meters away. The place has DHL and booking tour service, which is comfortable since you do not have to go out and look for travel agencies. Bathrooms and clean rooms, good and modern shower.
Cons: Some of the promised appliances were missing, such as the kettle. The WiFi does not go very well to all the facilities, the signal cuts often. At night there was very loud noise from another hotel (microphone, karaoke and music) on weekdays and late into the night, this made it a bit difficult to rest. The excellent service was overshadowed by the low quality of the facilities.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Apt was clean, comfortable, adequately furnished. Daily cleaning and linen change was nice.
Cons: Wifi was sometimes weak in the apt, worked better in the garden. No toaster.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Service was attentive and friendly in this family run apartment hotel. The second and third floor two-bedroom apartments are large and airy, with full kitchens and large covered balconies. The building and yard are clean and well kept.
Cons: Our stay was during a rainy period and our one-bedroom suite on the ground floor was musty. This is the only reason I would withhold an excellent rating. (We were saved from disappointment as we socialized in the two-bedroom suites of others in our party.)
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful.

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice, clean, quaint, lodging, beautiful garden at affordable price.
Cons: No common/family indoor areas to hang out.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The landscaping was beautiful!!! Great view of the volcano. Just off the main part of town, so it was convenient but also quiet and safe.
Cons: The rooms were a little dark. It would be really nice if they could add some more lighting fixtures or lamps.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice bungalow, a bit small, but good value for the price. In walking distance from town and with fantastic view of the volcano from the hotel grounds. Staff was very nice and helpful. The children enjoyed the pool.
Cons: Could have used a private sitting area - used the restaurant and that was fine. Could have used a place to hang wet bathing suits. Would have been nice with wifi in the bungalow.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The landscaping and view of Arenal were great! The pool was very nice. The best part of our short stay was the breakfast! The food was wonderful, and the cooking staff was awesome. We checked in after dark, and the staff person went to get a flashlight to show us a sloth that was up in a tree. We were a group of 12 and we were able to have two rooms that slept 6 in each room which worked very well for us.
