The futon beds was comfy. Our room was in perfect location, overseeing the garden.
Mr. Yamazaki is a very forthcoming host with a good command of the English language. The japanese breakfast/food offered is fantastic and reasonably priced. The ryokan is located in a mountainous part of the Kyoto outskirts, so the air is nice and fresh, but make sure to use the thick covers provided with the futons as it will get rather cold at night. The air conditioning does a good job of mitigating this issue, but it will be a bit noisy. The staff has been very helpful and friendly throughout our stay and we were allowed to stay past our check-out time to wait for our clothes to dry. The garden in the center of the ryokan is a marvel to behold and the last checkmark on what is an authentic japanese experience through and through. Unbeatable in this price range and more than worth what we paid.
Very quiet and comfortable, and looks authentic. The staff are discrete but very friendly and helpful. Thank you!
It might be difficult to use the bathroom and toilets when the ryokan is full of guests (patience needed sometimes)
Traditional Japanese rooms which far surpassed my expectations! Great price, clean rooms and the owner is a great guy after upgrading my room at no extra cost as I stayed longer than previously booked. Way out of the city but the Japanese public transport is the best on the planet. Love Kyoto and Ryokan Yamasaki largely enhanced it.
If you opt for a room facing the road don't expect much sleep. Breakfast was a letdown.
Only two beds provided when booked for three Rooms are about 400m from reception desk which didn’t expect so have to walk around the neighbourhood to reception if you need assistance Pillows like school bean bags but beds warm Would describe it more of a 2/3 star hostel
