Sumiyoshiya - Kanazawa - Building
1
9,5 Excellent (380 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Sumiyoshiya in Kanazawa, you'll be a 3-minute walk from Omicho Market and 11 minutes by foot from Kanazawa Castle. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful owner. Big room with own bathroom. Nice small and cosy onsen. Close to the gardens and shopping district and 1 min from omicho market.
Cons: Nothing. It was really great.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Good onsen, good room
Cons: Far from the station although you can walk it in 15 min more or less but very close to the castle. The onsen isnt in the same building, have to pass the cafe to get there (indoor pass). The room was fairly sized, but in general the place didnt have a ryokan feeling. Expensive breakfast.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything exceeded expectations - location was great, as were the staff and the onsen. Rooms were huge with private bathrooms as well as the shared onsen.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly located, fantastic room and the staff were absolutely lovely - let us use the shower after a long hot day despite our having already checked out!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Dinner is able to be taken in the room in true Ryokan style.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!
9,4 Excellent
Pros: What a beautiful traditional inn. We loved our stay here. It's a great location, close to Omishi Market and the castle. The room is beautiful, and the onsen (bath area) is pretty cool.
Cons: Probably my own fault, but I woke up with a pretty sore back from sleeping on the floor. I bet it's not a problem for normal-sized folks, but I'm a little too tall and a little too old...and I guess I need a regular mattress to support my spine!
9,5 Excellent
Pros: My husband and I felt so welcome here. It was our first time staying at a ryokan, and definitely the best we experienced during two weeks of travel in Japan. We were able to check in early and were welcomed with tea and sweets by an incredibly thoughtful staff. Our beds were set up while we were out for dinner, and they were extremely comfortable. We didn't have dinner here, but the Japanese breakfast was delicious. This place is charming, memorable, and a great, great value. Thank you for your hospitality, Sumiyoshiya! We would love to return some day!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect! Very friendly staff, wonderful room, delicious food and couldn’t be more helpful. They even upgraded us to a private bathroom as it wasn’t fully booked. 10/10, my favourite accommodation in Japan.
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This ryokan is an amazing place. The owner is super nice and made us feel very welcomed. The room was clean and had a very nice view of the inner yard. We also tried the Japanese breakfast in the morning and it was very delicious. I really recommend this place for your visit to Kanazawa, it won't disappoint you!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We never stated in a Ryokan before but it felt very traditional. The had Japanese breakfast as well as an a continental choice, Although we always had the Japanese option which was excellent. We also had one traditional Japanese dinner that was outstanding. The room was very spacious and futons very comfortable. Very nice bathroom and toiletries.
Murataya Ryokan - Kanazawa - Building
2
9,1 Excellent (594 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Murataya Ryokan in Kanazawa, you'll be within a 15-minute walk of Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle. Featured amenities include a computer station, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful and friendly staff, spotlessly clean and excellent location, everything in walking distance. It was an excellent introduction to staying in a ryokan and I would stay here again when I visit Kanazawa in the future. It was very comfortable which I wasn't expecting.
Cons: There wasn't anything I could complain about.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The ryokan is located 30 min walk from the station, but if you have JR pass you can use it on JR buses. I is in a little alley between a very nicee high street and the "cool" restaurants area. The tatami room was large and had air conditioning, beds, linens, and yukatas were as new. The common bathroom and washing areas were always impeccable. We have been offered great green tea and the water in the thermo flask was always hot.
Cons: They do not manage your payment through booking and they only accept cash. English was basic but enough to cover fundamentals for the stay in a ryokan.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very kind, polite and helpful people, this more than compensated for the limited facilities (no refrigerator in room , wash basin or tea coffee) in comparison to the other ryokan's we've stayed in. But considering the experience of the ryokan in the middle of a bustling city and the kindness of the elderly couple and son who own the place ... it was well worth it
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Superb hosts, nice room and bath. Love their attention to small details. Like every day they leave a Japanese sweet (which they seem to buy the day before) with a tea set.
Cons: The only thing maybe an “old” smell (you know like when you’re visiting your grandma) in the lobby. That’s probably because the building is very old. Plus it’s not a problem if the door is open. Still giving it 10 stars
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous location for sight-seeing, but not close to the train station. This is a classic ryokan-style inn. Great value. The lighting in our room was nice, with a window to a green, quiet courtyard. The staff were so helpful.
Cons: The onsen (hot bath) is tiny, and the bathroom is down the corridor. (Beware of the house slippers on the stairs).
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The stuff ate extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and nice with walking distance to all the main attraction. I really enjoyed my stay there.
Cons: Only one small thing: when I went back for shower after a humid hot day, some guests locked the Japanese style shower/bath place from inside which was supposed to be shared with other people but that is not a big deal: just need to wait a bit.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were so helpful and accommodating. The rooms were restful and calming. We all loved the hot bath
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, clean & friendly - perfect place to explore the city!
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, tea and Japanese sweets every day
Cons: That you have to pay straight away at check in and not when checking out or the night before if you are departing early. Dark room, hardly any daylight and musty smell despite owner spraying with room freshener.
Minshuku Ginmatsu - Kanazawa - Building
3
9,0 Excellent (518 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Minshuku Ginmatsu is located in Kanazawa and takes about 10 minutes by bus from Kanazawa Station, near Kenrokuen Garden. Free WiFi is available in each guest room. Yukata are available for guests to wear during their stay. The hotel possesses 5 guest rooms.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: in historic district, clean and spacious tatami room, very friendly staff (basic communication in English was possible), JR bus (can be used with JR Pass) stop only 5 minutes walking distance and the bus stops at all major attractions as well as at the station
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely large room. Breakfast is fixed but cooked by the hosts for you. Although typical asian and maybe hard to digest for europeans, really good.
Cons: Although inside a nice Chay district, kind of far from other locations, so if you stay here, be ready to walk for 15-20 minutes.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Genuine Japanese room and beds and breakfast, great experience.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great place and excellent hospitality.
Cons: All
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent and is a short walk from the bus stop that does a loop of the town.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Staff was helpful and friendly, and helped us out with Takkyubin, sending our luggages to the next hotel. Shared toilets wasn’t a problem, as they were almost always available when we needed to use them. Room was spacious.
Cons: Located slightly further away from the tour bus route
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I think this was the best hotel I've been in Japan. Parquet everywhere so it was not allowed to walk using your shoes but was mandatory to leave them at the front door...The staff was very very very polite and ready to give you all the info you need...even if they can speak only Japanese. To go around the house you can use the yukata that you fine in your room. We had a fantastic experience in a traditional Japanese house.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: It was difficult to find it
8,8 Excellent
Pros: - Room very traditional with tatami and general presentation, very spacious. - The owner was very accommodating and the breakfast was good - The common bathroom while a bit small for tall people was clean - The property is located right in the middle of the Geisha district and 20 minutes by walk from the castle and the garden, so it is very good.
Cons: - Not very close to the station, if you have plenty of luggage bus or taxy are suggested. - The breakfast is great for people that likes salty food and fish but be aware that there is not much for people used to continental breakfast. - You can only pay cash so plan in advance
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Japanese house, Japanese family, Japanese breakfast!

9,3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and polite staff. Good room service. Great location near train station. Comfortable bed, big room.
Cons: The heating/cooling light is way too bright same with wifi.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location next to Kanazawa station which is walking distance (15-20mims) to all main sites. Great views. THE biggest and most diverse buffet breakfast we came across in Japan and really good quality. Great in house Sky Lounge bar and restaurants with great views.
Cons: Only slight down side was that our room was dated compared to the opulent lobby, cafe and restaurant areas. I understand some rooms may of been rennovated. We could access a gym next door (payment required) but it didn't open until 9am.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good shape and interior design is very relaxing. Buffet breakfast was great. Our room was in the 23rd floor with a very good view to the city.

Pros: The location is right across the main train station, which is also where the bus terminal that one could take the essential touring loop bus to most attractions in the city! The view of the room is superb - with the spectacular night view of the famous architecture of the train terminal building. The bathing experience is also great. Breakfast is good as a 3-4 star Japanese hotel! The hotel lobby and entrance are quite classic! Value for money when compared with other city center hotels in Nagoya and vacinity.
Cons: The room and hotel in general are a bit old!
5,6 Okay
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Although the lobby was decent the rooms were in need of upgrade. It felt like going back in time about 30 years.

Cons: Breakfast selection and over all taste of food is just okay compared to other Dormy Inn hotels. The layout of hot spring bath and its atmosphere are not as good as other Dormy Inn hotels.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The onsen on the top floor is fantastic. The free beer in the bar from 7-9 is an unbelievable perk, as is the delicious ramen served free from 9.30-11. You literally eat and drink your fill as much as you like within those hours. Room was spacious and clean. Staff were wonderfully kind

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff are super friendly and helpful. Size of room worked really well for us as a couple, and everything was kept very clean.
Cons: The only complaint we have is that the laundry facility should be complimentary instead of a charge of 500 yen. Everything else was perfect!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were very clean and spacious.
Cons: Although the staff were kind, we made a note in advance to accept an urgent Fedex letter for us. When the letter arrived they did not accept it. We therefore had to extend our stay by another night for fedex to resend the letter. They did not apologize or offer any discount on their mistake which took away from our great stay at the hotel. They also do not have room service and when we checked out stood and watched us struggle with our bags rather than have anyone help us. Good hospitality can go a long way.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: My twin room was a good size with comfortable bed and large bathroom. The staff were helpful, there’s a good Italian restaurant next door, and extras like coffee and bath amenities are freely available.

Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location was brilliant. Very good value for money
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel and hospitality. Our twin room was a good size with quality furnishings, comfortable beds and a well appointed bathroom with lovely toiletries. The breakfast choice was extensive and delicious, with eggs made to order and coffee to take away. The staff were all very helpful and it was great to be able to buy a one day travel pass from the concierge. Thank you to the young man who ran after us to tell us about other places a bit further away, as the hotel is so well located for access to The Samurai District, Castle and Gardens that you can walk. The Club Lounge access was worth paying that bit extra for.
Cons: The room was too warm for us and could not be cooled independently due to the time of year. However, the window opened - great - but unfortunately for us it was very windy and we were on the 14th floor so it was too loud to leave open during the night. An electric fan would have been useful, (and might perhaps be given some consideration), as there was an air purifier in the room which was a nice touch.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very good personnel, good breakfast.
Cons: Size of the room and a bit steep in price.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Location, location, location.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Large room and comfortable
Cons: Nil
10,0 Excellent
Pros: First stay at a Tokyu Hotel and very impressed with the level of service and overall look and feel of the hotel. If you are looking for a modern hotel in Japan which is still very Japanese then this chain is a good bet. This particular hotel is very well located for the garden, the castle, the modern art museum and the old samurai neighbourhood. Around the back are plenty of bars and izakayas to keep you happy at night. We instead opted to walk to Higashi Chaya-gai, the eastern geisha district, which was very pretty but extremely quiet. Should probably have visited it during the day rather than evening.
6,3 Good
Pros: The hotel is a short bus or taxi ride from the station but in a very good position , near the gardens and samurai district The staff were very friendly and did their best to help ( although our request for soft pillows in English and Japanese only resulted in more hard ones) I liked breakfast but my friend who likes western style breakfasts thought it OK and no more
Cons: The beds were hard which my friend and I could have tolerated had the pillows been soft: a hard rubber pillow and a softer one but with a hard grainy layer ( perhaps buckwheat?). We had little sleep both nights It was my second stay in a year at this hotel. I had booked superior single rooms with club access. There was an element of penny pinching - the room was on the small side, only one towel and even only one teabag! The club lounge was the same - hardly anything to eat with drinks eg three tiny plates ( one with half a slice of salami and pork sausage and a little bit of cheese was the largest offering ) and no generosity in the range of drinks or offering another glass My friend rated this hotel the worst she had stayed in in her four trips to Japan. I thought it only fair this time
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in a great location, room size was good. Bathroom clean and well sized.
Cons: Mattresses were too hard.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were the most wonderfully kind people. Super accommodating, resourceful and helpful. Extra thanks needs to go to Zhi Yang. I left some items in my room which was my fault alone and had left Kanazawa before realizing. Upon contacting them I was promptly re-directed to Zhi who has been in constant contact with me to organise forwarding my items to Osaka location for pick up.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Very central location. Clean rooms. Courteous and very helpful staff.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were great, facilities and public spaces were comfortable and attractive, location was perfect, restaurants and food were delicious. The staff was accommodating and friendly, and they went above and beyond to help with any request.
Cons: There was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, and the wired internet that was provided was very slow. In this day and age, it seems important to provide quick, reliable internet and Wi-Fi, or it will be difficult for business travelers (or anyone who relies on the internet really) to stay there.

Pros: awesome location, modern hotel, clean. Staff let us leave our bags there for a very long time.

9,5 Excellent

Cons: Everything was okay!
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Close to the station, room was clean but the sento had moldy spots. There was some mix up when we checked in but was cleared up quickly and we were able to leave our bags at the hotel before we could check-in.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The onsen(hotsping), free amenities, nice shampoos, the big bed, two pillows each, close to different eating places.
Cons: Onsen - Since you can get there in the provided pijamas, you arrive in the lobby but there is no sign to where is the onsen. You have to get to the reception in the pijamas where there are other people to get help. Come on guys, put some arrows on the ground or on the walls. You should close inn in a glass tunnel the connection between the two towers. It will make the situation perfect. In the onsen you have to print in big letters in japanese, english and chinese that the men they need to take a shower before entering the water. The small pamphlets you give are ignored. The poster on the wall is too little. Its your responsibility to make the hygiene better by enforcing a better communication of the rules. Both japanese man and tourist went in the water without showering first...and they used their small towels in the water as well.
7,5 Good
Pros: Location was good but I am sure there might be better hotels thna this
Cons: Room was really small and the bathroom was tremendously small They barely speak english
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Close to the bus and train station which makes it very convenient for a short stay.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Next to train-Jr and bus station. Nice hotel and comfy. Spacious room. From the station you can buy a 500yen bus ticket to move along kanazawa during 24h
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was right next door to a shopping mall that connects to the Kanazawa station. So the location was superb! The staff were very accomodating and kind enough to upgrade our room to a superior double room which was quite big in terms of size (we could open 2 large luggages at the same time). They all could speak good english as well. We will definitely come back here again the next time we visit Kanazawa as the hotel is central to everything that Kanazawa has to offer.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Superb location, right by station and bus terminals, department store across road with extensive dining options on top floors. Small but comfortable room, all amenities provided. JR buses run 2 sightseeing loops from station to most places you want to see, so no need to buy bus tickets if you have JR pass. Supermarkets a short walk away and in station.
Cons: A bit of noise in mornings from railway loud speakers. Try to get a top floor room away from station side. Breakfast mostly Japanese but a few other options nearby in and around station if you prefer western style.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location is good and near train station, restaurants and shopping area.
Cons: Car park was a little inconvenient but attendant was very helpful to assist with parking.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very closed to the station and shops.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed. Good size bathroom for affordable hotel in Japan. Love the check in procedure.
Cons: Room could have been a little larger
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly located near the main station and close to shopping complexes and convenience stores, not too far to walk to tourist attractions. The staff were welcoming and friendly, the rooms were comfortable and clean, not too basic and value for money
Cons: Check in was a bit of a process - you first see the front desk and then complete payment at an automated machine. But this made check out super fast.

Pros: Suzuki knows his job well by answering my questions to go around Kanazawa and to be on time for my transports much easier as a solo traveler Thanks Suzuki
Cons: I can’t think of it
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Nice spacious room with two good sized beds in. The hotel had a very good location for visiting many of the attractions in kanazawa
Cons: Breakfast contained a very mediocre selection and everything that should have been hot was only warm. This was probably because the lids were left off the pots and any heat that was conducted from below just convected into the atmosphere. The coffee was pretty tasteless
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The room was so big and beautiful
Cons: The brrakfast could be improved, there were variety but not very tasty. However, the curry was very good

10,0 Excellent
Pros: This was a very traditional ryokan that felt like we had stayed in home more than a hotel. Even though it was a shared bathroom we got to feel like we had experienced a traditional bathhouse. It was well set up with separate toilets and sinks to accommodate everyone. Our host was lovely and very well organised. Great location, which made sight seeing by foot very possible.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Well located atmospheric traditional accommodation with friendly obliging host and his gracious mother who made us delicious and amazing Japanese style breakfasts. Easy to walk to Kanazawa’s main attractions. Pleasant neighbourhood near lots of restaurants and shops. Warm bedding and well heated rooms. Large double room suitable for 2 adults and 2 or more children. Recommended for a great Japanese experience.
Cons: Nothing. Though I speak Japanese so a phrase book might come in handy if you don’t.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The manager Seito is the best thing about Kikunoya because he is warm and welcoming. Even though he speaks only a little English, he helped us with our questions, prepared an amazing Japanese style breakfast -- great value at 1,000Yen -- and even did our light laundry at no charge. Rooms and furnishing, very simple in the Japanese style, are thoughtfully decorated with attention to the smallest details: pot of hot water, tea bags and service, tissues, extra futons.
Cons: My husband was concerned about having a toilet down the hall, but in fact, although the ryokan was full, we never waited to use it or do bathe in the large Japanese bathing room. Both super clean and full of toiletries.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the privacy. The location was fantastic. The neighborhood amazing. The host was very invested in our needs or perceived needs. Can’t praise the experience enough.
Cons: No smoking in the bldg.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Hot tea first thing in the morning. Best ever! All restaurants great some super unusual. Great for contemporary artists and lovers of minimalist architecture.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: This property is in a very good location in Kanazawa and it is a lovely ryokan to stay.
Cons: The room was a little stuffy as it was on a top floor so lacked airflow, it maybe nice to great guests with fresh air from an open window or with aircon at first.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: A warm welcome will wait for you in this family run ryokan 5 min walk from the main shopping street and close to the main attractions in Kanazawa. Delicious and rich breakfast in the morning and very comfortable room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Family run ryokan, very charming people. Clean and tidy, will stay there again if I go to Kanazawa again.
Cons: A little far from the train station, take the taxi there if you have luggages, will cost you approx ¥1400 from the station.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The welcome was wonderful, the room was wonderful, the breakfast was wonderful, the whole experience was wonderful.

Pros: Very clean and Nice location. But, large constructions going on at right front of hotel and hard to see how to get there. It would be helpful, if they give use warnings and easy way to get around construction sites.
Cons: Clean but Rooms are Very small.0

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very close to the train station. Helpful staff. Good breakfast for 1000 yen.
4,5 Okay
Cons: air condition is the worst, room is too hot, staff cannot quite understand English. seems this is a local business hotel rather than an international tourist hotel. wifi not stable
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was good for me. I enjoyed the good Japanese breakfast.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Good
Cons: Breakfast coupon was different Japanese Green coupon, Maybe (Time was not fixed. For example, 7:00~9:30?) We had a White coupon Time was fixed( 7:00~7:20) Why????
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location for travelling around Tokyo. Would stay again.
5,8 Okay
Pros: It looked posh and the staff were helpful but it didn’t meet our needs.
Cons: We had two rooms one single and one double. The double had a double bed that was only slightly bigger than a single bed in the single room and the rooms were so small. I asked for a bigger room which I got with 2 separate beds but it did cost me an extra £44. Then the AC didn’t work properly so we had a very warm room. The staff were friendly but really struggled to speak to them about the issues I had in English. My fault I should have learnt Japanese since I am in there country. I wouldn’t recommend the place to be honest.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
9,3 Excellent
Pros: - hot spring facilities: massage bubble bath, jacuzzi, sauna, are EXCELLENT - good breakfast, it provides reasonably priced dinner too. - location is good as it is very closed to station and two shopping malls,
Cons: - window of my room was very small. - air conditioning is not effectively working in the afternoon and I guess it requires some cleaning maintenance. Me and my daughter had a runny nose everytime we returned to our room.
3,3 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast service well organized. Separate lines for Japanese and Western breakfasts. Not buffet style but generous tray assortment with unltd coffee/tea and salad/fruits.
Cons: Located away front town area. Must pass under expressway and poor roadways on way to bus station and shopping. Must clarify that department store is located nearby but head back to hotel while still daylight; roadways are not lit well. Air conditioning was not set to operate altho the warm spring weather had arrived. In fact, our room was sauna-like and requested another room because couldn't sleep in the uncomfortable warmth. Glad that manager on duty took action and moved us across the hall. Ta dah! NOTE: Ask for a west facing room and feel free to open room window!

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Right located at the city center. It's is so easy to reach the major attractions.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Good price/quality ratio. Very comfortable room above Japan standard
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Best location, it is so easy to access to 21 century museum, Kanazawa castles, Kenrokuen erc Also near hotel there are bunch of shopping and eating places
Cons: Most staff are very kind however some of them are not so friendly from guest point of view.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel, very comfortable and convenient. Delicious melon parfait in the cafe.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: As an American tourist, the usual great things about an upscale Japanese hotel apply: - Outstanding customer service that never fails to give you the impression that everybody just wants to go above and beyond - Outstanding cleanliness - Nice decor, nice facilities. There's a dessert dining area and a master patissier, which is an interesting take in addition to the usual lunch and dinner. I actually had a slice of mango cake and iced coffee, and it was a great afternoon snack. For only 1,000 yen I might add (the equivalent of about $10 USD). There's really not much you can complain about. The staff spoke exceptionally good English, even in comparison to the other luxury hotels I stayed at in larger cities such as Kyoto and Hiroshima. The breakfast buffet is great, but probably not worth the 2,000 yen price tag (about $20 USD). You'll get better value from their weekly pasta lunches which run around 1,300 yen.
Cons: The only thing was spacing. I upgraded my room because like most places in Japan, space comes at a premium. However, I found that the extra space was occupied by a larger bed (full size). Personally, I would have preferred a normal double bed and more open space to move around/arrange my luggage. It was a fairly narrow fit as was the case in most of the hotels that I stayed at during a six week Japan trip.
6,8 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean, with good water pressure in the shower. Location very central in a nice area. There does not seem to be much choice of nice hotels in Kanazawa and this is not a terrible one.
Cons: More Hotel Dusty than Hotel Trusty. We found plenty of dust on the bedside tables, around the bed, etc. - definitely not the level of cleanliness and attention to detail that we've seen elsewhere in Japan. The room we stayed in (Superior Double Room) was really tiny. It had a huge super king bed but not much space around it, so it was impossible to open our large suitcase anywhere in the room. The bathroom was very cramped but functional. Nowhere near what you would expect from a 4 star hotel - more like a basic 3 star, think Ibis. If driving, note that the hotel car park does not have many spaces, and it is one of the automated elevator ones you find in Japan, which is a bit of a hassle as it requires 10 minutes to park or retrieve the car with the help of the hotel staff.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Great location and cleanness of the hotel.
Cons: There was only one staff working at the check-in desk in the morning when I got there. There were 2 -3 guests waiting ahead of me to be served. When I was checking out next day, I had a similar experience. It would be nice if there were at least two staffs instead of just one.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Extremely comfortable bed and pillows.. Reasonable sized room. Good selection for buffet breakfast.Good location close to the castle.
Cons: Nothing

Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is very good, coming out is JR station and long distance BUS passenger station. and many of the shopping mall around the hotel. so very easy if u want to buy something. the service of the hotel staff is very great, when we asked them where to buy the glucose meter, we have not found it all the way, they patiently help us find and contact the store.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff friendliness and restaurants
Cons: Our room was on the 7th floor and very small, without any window or ability to get any fresh air. Made the room feel claustrophobic. Room was also unreasonable expensive due to GoldenWeek (one night ~ ¥50k was way over-priced for this little room)
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Location service
Cons: No
5,5 Okay
Cons: I was generally satisfied by the hotel in terms of staff friendliness and hotel location. But i was terribly shocked to find later that the guest room arranged for me was fitted with window of opaque glass on the lowest floor! This really ruined my mood and thought if there was any wrong with my booking! My booking was made a half year ago with a request for a room on a higher floor (if possible), which i understand is not guaranteed! Just wonder to know your principle to arrange the room for a guest, maybe in consideration of the price, date of booking, place of origin of the guest........
8,8 Excellent
Pros: It was a great location very convenient to the train station and public transport. Large shopping mall close by as well. Good selection of food places in the area also
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent, being right next door to the main train and bus station. It was a great hotel from which to explore. We would definitely choose to stay there again.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: good breakfast
Cons: buffet lunch a little disappointing
5,8 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: A bit worn out and dated.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: It was just in front of JR Kanazawa Station. I used the hotel on business but it was great place to enjoy Kanazawa as a fine sightseeing city.
Cons: Just little bit dark anywhere in the hotel. I was happy if the bath room was roomier.

4,5 Okay
Pros: Hotel was very nicely placed. It is easily accessible by bus and close to main tourist and visiting attractions.
Cons: There seem to be a crucial difference in booking this hotel (this time) about smoking. Even though we booked a "preferred" non-smoking, the super-expensive golden-week room simply reeked. Hotel claimed to have use special cleaning: mattress smelled super bad and even opening window all the time was barely efficient, it was a nightmare and, clearly, room was not clean.
5,8 Okay
Cons: Noise from outside the hotel - cars, weekend merry makers. Noise gets in the room.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Right next to the loop bus which takes you to station or around the city.
Cons: Room rates were high (at least double the usual rate) ...but it was Golden Week!
7,0 Good
Pros: The staff was great. They haven’t succeeded yet, but they tried hard to resolve a billing mistake that they made. The breakfast is OK, with a reasonable variety, including one of my personal favorites, good chocolate chip cookies. The room was SMALL, but everything functioned well.
Cons: The room was SMALL. There was a line of people literally out to the street when we checked in, but it was Golden Week, which explained the situation. The staff put five people at the front desk and it went quickly enough. But, the woman who checked us in spoke very little English and charged my credit card in US dollars instead of Japanese yen, without telling me. The next morning I saw what she did and complained about it. The staff didn’t really understand what was happening, but they tried hard to fix it. They reversed the transaction and then ran my credit card again and showed me what they were doing. When the screen said touch 1 to pay in yen or touch 2 to pay in dollars I explained that I wanted them to touch 1, which they did. The difference in cost to me was US$41, i.e., I saved $41 by paying in yen. However, unfortunately, I now have two charges on my bill. But I will sort it out with my bank by disputing the first charge. If the staff hadn’t been so willing to try to immediately solve the problem, I would be very upset.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Clean room, cafe in the lobby, helpful staff, great location for dining and shopping. Comfortable and large bed for Japan standards, we always love the beds and pillows in APA hotels. Onsen on the roof! We didn’t use it but that’s pretty cool, hadn’t seen it in a city centre budget hotel before. It is close to the garden and castle, which are the main attractions of Kanazawa.
Cons: As is usual for Japan and an APA hotel, the room is small but it’s not an issue, just a little hard to navigate with suitcases. It’s a while away from Kanazawa station, we got a taxi from the station to the hotel which was relatively cheap, only about 1000 yen.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Good central location near many of the tourist attractions. The rooms are a decent size for a Japanese hotel, and the sauna facilities on the roof are quite unique.
Cons: I didn't find it a problem, but the area this is in becomes a bit of a red light district at night. Street level is fine, but you might want to avoid venturing into the bars in the higher floors (4th and up) of the surrounding buildings.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The location for sightseeing was great. Rooms are small but very comfortable.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Visited Kanazawa and stayed here for 1 night. Hotel in excellent location, the room small but clean and comfortable. Good value for money.
5,5 Okay
Pros: The position of the hotel was pretty central and we were capable of going around without taking busses or public transports. The hotel looks modern and there is a big bar in the entrance. Right in front there are several shops.
Cons: The quality of the room was less than average and the cleaningness not perfect. The staff barely spoke English and we struggled to communicate. We choose the Japanese breakfast: worst error ever as we ended up eating in a dirty, lonely and ugly restaurant nearby.
6,8 Good
Pros: Location only couple stops by bus from train station. Very small room but clean and modern.the employees very professional
Cons: The AC is control by the hotel for the cold or heat, couldn’t’ sleep since it was too warm in the hotel. Called the front desk, were fast to respond but couldn’t help. Small location for breakfast and limited with N.A. Foods. Should promote Asian sty’e breakfast
6,8 Good
Pros: Central location to tourist sights and restaurants.
Cons: Room was very compact.

Pros: Great location.
Cons: Old and not very clean. There was mould in the bathroom and stains on the bed sheets. A hostel would probably have been cleaner.
6,8 Good
Pros: The hotel is slightly outdated but kept in a reasonable state. There wasn't any unpleasant odor in the room. The breakfast was a good value.
Cons: The table in the room was very small and slightly dirty behind the TV.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were great, and we were given a special ladies’ gift on arrival! The room itself was on the small side, but with two small double beds. As with all Japanese hotels we stayed in, we were provided with plenty of good quality soap, shampoo and conditioner.
