Pros: Very nice hostess which was really taking good care of us from our arrival until end of dinner (thank you again). We had a very nice ryokan experience :) good futons for sleep ! Good dinner but a little too much for our appetites.
Cons: A little too much in quantities for the dinner (but Good taste! )
10,0 Excellent
Pros: the rooms, the service, the food (especially the food!), the bath, the surrounding, the whole location - it is difficult to find something better
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Nice typical ryokan. Good food. Good service.
Cons: Nothing
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The property was well located but outside of the Main Street so was nice and relaxing. The onsen was beautiful and a deer walked past when I was in the outside onsen. Food was traditional Japanese and very high quality. Breakfast was lovely in the breakfast room.
Cons: Nothing, it was a highlight of the trip and better (and cheaper) than the ryokan which we stayed in Kyoto.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very professional staff, excellent services
Cons: Great dinner

Pros: Everything from the welcoming visit to the fantastic breakfast with a view, from the dream rooftop onsen to the Michelin star level dinner. The staff is the kindest and most helpful, the cosmetic products are the best Japanese organic brand. I'm impressed
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, delicious foods served on trays.
Cons: The size of tables used to serve dinners and breakfasts for 2 persons is too large. And when covered with white table cloth, it gives an unattractive white expansive space. Cosiness of the dining room should be created with smaller tables, softer lighting and more appropriate music.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The staff treated you like a God. The beds were extremely nice, the onsen was beautiful with the outside bath. The food was one of the best that I have ever taken in my entire life and the view made it complete.
Cons: The room was pretty warm because the air conditioning was on heating. Everything was written in Japanese so I had no idea. However opening the window fixed the problem.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Superb location. I got a room with a fantastic Seaview. The room's interior design and decor are beautiful yet functional. Staffs are very attentive and friendly. Services are beyond expectations. Excellent traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner. Great variety of food made from local raw materials on the island. I definitely will come back and stay here again.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly greeting. Great explanation of room and facilities. Food was fantastic. Location perfect. View from my room of the sea - beautiful!
Cons: Nothing to say.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Top for kindness, willingness, friendliness and professionalism. Very very appreciated the strain to anticipate for us breakfast starting time in order to let us take the ferry boat early in the morning.
Cons: N/a
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and spacious room with sea view. The natural mix of Japanese and Western styles was really nice. Very smiling and helpful staff, with excellent English level. Excellent diner. Nice onsen on top floor. Great location, extremely convenient.
Cons: Not much. A bit pricey, but it is worth it.

Pros: Great spot right by the ferry. Owner (Teppei) was super nice and very funny. He made sure to explain everything about our room and also how to properly eat Japanese meals. He also provides local sights on the island and what you should do in chronological order. We had a Japanese style room with private bath and partial ocean view, very clean and spacious. You can order western or Japanese meals, but our Japanese meals was excellent! You won't be disappointed with this place, great value compared to other high end ryoken on island
Cons: It's an older building and not very appealing from the outside, but the rooms and dinner are all excellent!
Sekitei - Hatsukaichi - Building
9,0 Excellent (249 reviews)
R11 436+
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The public onsen had radiation (radium) which kepted me warm all night. Also the sake tasting was pure evil, especially after the hot onsen and before dinner.
Cons: Earlier check in would be better, and if have onsen in room instead of normal water would be perfect.

Pros: Clean, great location and wonderful staff
Cons: Quite expensive
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The room was nice and the breakfast was delicious. The food bath and onsen were marvelous.
Cons: We chose a superior category room but it was just in front of the "smoking terrace," so there were always people talking and laughing there. It was difficult to sleep as it was very noisy.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent and room was very large
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious! The staff were very accommodating and informative. The room where we stayed at is clean and spacious. Also, we had a free shuttle going to the hotel when we arrived in Miyajima and another free shuttle when we went back to the ferry station. It was very convenient. My best friend and I booked this hotel to celebrate my birthday in Miyajima. Hotel Kikunoya made my day extra special by surprising me with a birthday cake and a lively song while we are having dinner. It was truly memorable for me. I even cried because I was so touched. Thank you very much!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was friendly, courteous n very helpful.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Large rooms with big beds
Cons: The restaurant is small and we could not get in for dinner. The restaurants outside of the hotel for dinner are remote.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great place to stay. I've been to many Ryokans and this one ranks among the better ones (most of them are great, so that means something). It's location is great and we could see the Tori of the Itsukushima shrine from our Window. The food was great and the staff is very helpful. They also all speak English. The shuttle to/from the ferry is helpful if you come with heavy luggage.
Cons: I've seen nicer hot springs, but it is doing its job. And it is complaining on a very high level.

Pros: Wish they had offered breakfast! Also, didn't tell us when booking that we could have reserved dinner so we had to go out looking for a place to eat.
Cons: Dining options weren't clearly available at the hotel. But we found plenty nearby before 5 and one really great place after 5.
6,0 Good
Pros: Attentive staff from the pier pickup to drop off at departure.
Cons: Breakfast could have been better. Now sure why they offered us western breakfast. Surly I wasn’t asked or a choice was offered.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff are attentive, helpful and polite. They make the stay comfortable and enjoyable.
Cons: None
8,0 Excellent
Pros: View was excellent, room was large, Miyajima island is beautiful, staff were extremely helpful and kind.
Cons: Construction right outside the window, went on most of the day Room had two twin beds, not a single queen as expected Room was traditional Japanese style with family altar/living space. That floor was fairly dirty (stains)
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Onsen was fantastic, staff were extremely friendly and professional. The Japanese experience was authentic. FOOD INCREDIBLE!!!
Cons: Loved it all.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent and the staff are so friendly, polite and obliging. The tatami room was beautiful and comfortable with very nice touches. The cleaning staff do an amazing job tidying you room when you go out and making everything fresh and clean. The clothes provided were very nice and the overall atmosphere was very calming and warm.
Cons: Only 2 small things. The room was at the end of the hotel, so when we tried to use the indoor shower or bath, the water was cold when we turned on the hot tap. I asked reception what to do and they said to just let the water run for about 10 mins. It never became properly warm even after for letting it run for 40 mins, only slightly less cold. I felt bad having to waste that much water. The water in the private open air hot tub had no issue with hot water, that was fine. There was also hot water at the public bathing section which was also very nice. After making the booking which included meals, I requested a vegetarian option. They told me it would be an extra ¥3300 per day for going off menu which I thought was expensive but I accepted. However it was very disappointing when the main course with rice came out, they just served me plain rice whereas my partner was served a substantial protein. I thought that was very bad value for the extra money I paid.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This was our third time to stay in this ryokan-style hotel. We always request for Room 510 (it's the only room with a balcony) and they always give it to us. That room is big and spacious with both western and Japanese sections. Their Kaiseki-style dinner is always superb - it's like the Japanese verison of a degustacion with over a dozen courses. Service is so personalized. From the time you check-in, you are assigned a sort of butler who will attend to your every need til the time you check out. Their spoken English is impeccable. Will always want to stay overnight in Miyajima only because of this hotel.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Atmosphere. Very traditional. Incredibly relaxing. I only had the smallest room but it had a lot of character and was very comfortable. A special place.
Cons: Nothing! It is very traditional so I didn't know what to do in some situations like wearing the clothes they provide you with around the hotel, but that didn't matter at all and the staff did their best to help with it!
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The meals, especially the dinner was amazing. Excellent quality and presentation and we have been to many other ryokans before. This is comparable to the best ones. Room was spacious and the out door ofuro was a nice touch. Public bath was good too with outdoor and indoor baths.
Cons: Wifi was not good. Weak signals.

Pros: the location is excellent, very near from JR Station and 5 minutes walk to the port. Clean public kitchen and they offer happy hour!
Cons: no elevator and only have 1 bathroom on each floor
5,0 Okay
Pros: It was very close to miyajima ferry which is what we wanted to do and they held our luggage for us and took it to our room and carried them back down when we left. They were friendly.
Cons: Small rooms and lots of tiny stairs to get to room
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Nice hostel right next to the ferry station to Miyajima island. Not in Hiroshima but 30-40 minutes by JR train to Hiroshima station which is still a very okay distance in Japan. Excellent location if you plan to visit any sights on Miyajima island. Very good for 2 or 3 day stay. Staff is friendly and helpful and they seem to have events which we unfortunately did not have a chance to try as we were there at the beginning of a week in late November. This is probably why the hostel was quite empty and calm when we were there. Everything was clean and functional, however, some may not like the thin mattresses but I prefer those. All in all it is a nice place to stay and would definitely come back if I went to Miyajima again.
Cons: The only downsides are the loud lockers in the rooms which might be inconvenient when the dorms are full and the lack of hangers and/or hooks to hang clothes in the rooms and in the bathrooms but that seems to be a global trend these days.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful, there are cute self-drawing map copies available showing nearby restaurants and facilities. Bed was decent and clean. There is coin laundry at the ground floor. The location is great, just outside the ferry station. A very good alternative to the much more expensive hotels on the island.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The stuff was really friendly. Loved the location.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Very close to the ferry to Miyajima island and to Miyajimaguchi station. Very nice and helpful staff.
Cons: Uncomfortable pillows. Tiny room.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was a 10 minute walk from the JR station which made it ideal for a day trip to Hiroshima (9 stops away) and adjacent to the JR ferry terminal. Large comfortable rooms, showing their age, but not detracting from the stay. Good views from the dining room. Usual Japanese style buffet breakfast included in the tariff and hotel dining opportunities if you didn’t want to go out at night. Friendly staff happy to assist us and ensure we enjoyed our stay. Location made it easy to view the Tori Gates at high and low tides (despite them being shrouded due to repair work).

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are helpful. Hot bath is ❤️. Very clean. Room was upraded upon request. Free shuttle bus to and from hotel. The view of Miyajima island is best to look at from this hotel.
4,0 Okay
Pros: The little shop on site is cute and had lots of souvenirs and snacks. They also had a shuttle between the hotel and train station that was very convenient.
Cons: Nothing terrible to report, but pretty much everything about this hotel was 'meh'. The rooms weren't particularly comfortable. The breakfast was below average, though they did surprise me with a tasty pork belly benedict option. There's a (very short) night cruise to the Miyajima temple offered from the hotel for an extra charge, which we were excited about. Unfortunately no one bothered to mention that the famous torii gate was under construction and behind a big white screened box. The cruise was pointless since we couldn't see the gate at all. Had they told us, we probably wouldn't have paid for the cruise.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very nice and in a fantastic location. Had a room with an amazing view on the sea and the Myajima Tori. The room had all Japan amenities, Japanese dinner very nice and breakfast European style. Did a private onsen with view on the sea. The staff was excellent.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location , balcony , view , spa
Cons: Room too hot
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were amazing
7,0 Good
Pros: The view of the room to Miyajima island. The Japanese style room: big and traditional. The option to book a private Onsen with an amazing view!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in an excellent setting with views across to Miyajima. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. The Japanese evening meal was delicious, and the hotel ensured that we had a different menu on our second night. The free shuttle bus to the station and ferry was very convenient . The night cruise was very enjoyable The Onsen was so relaxing
Cons: We did not realise that the Tori was encased in scaffolding while it is being renovated
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent views of Miyajima and the Torii Gate. Size of room is huge and very comfortable. Good onsen on property.
Cons: The property is a little old and dated. But comfortable.
