It was a nightmare.Cons:While reserving the car, I chose the time of 6 PM out of the windows provided. I arrived approximately 5:58 PM at the address provided in the car rental instructions. The problem was/is the address given is to a Toyota car dealership. Thinking maybe the Hertz dealership might be inside of the Toyota dealership, I went inside and asked the information lady. She said there was not a Hertz inside of the Toyota car dealership but there was one a few blocks down the street and that's probably the one I was looking for. She provided the address and as she was giving it to me, she mentioned they closed at 6 PM. I didn't think much about that because my reservation was for 6 PM but when I arrived at 6:07 PM, the place was vacant – closed for Thanksgiving. I called Hertz customer service and the lady continued to attempt to SEND ME BACK to the address of the Toyota car dealership- while at the same time telling me that Hertz closes at 6 PM – bear in mind that it is now 6:20 PM – 6:30 PM. She finally realizes that she's giving me directions to closed places and tells me that San Jose airport will be available to take care of me, as long as I provide them with this particular confirmation number. I asked her if she was sure that this confirmation number will be all I need and she ASSURED me that the confirmation number would suffice. So I got to the airport and I was told by the Hertz representative that he could not honor that confirmation number because that particular number was only for a car at the address that he had in his computer – THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP! The only thing he could do was to do a new rental and this one had to be for two days but between the amount I had already spent and the price of the new one I didn't have enough money on my card for the credit hold. Long story short, I was able to rent a car from BUDGET but now I have a Hertz rental bill for a car I didn't rent because... 1. they gave the time they CLOSE as the time to show up to rent the car, and 2. They STILL have the address to the car dealership (690 San Antonio Rd., Mountain View, CA) in their records as the address for the Hertz car rental (816 San Antonio Rd., Mountain View, CA). I hope to get the amount credited back to my card.Reviewed Nov 24 2018

Unable to rent a carCons:The online booking system was malfunctioning and it allowed me to rent a car from a location where no cars were available. The Hertz associate called me about 45 minutes before my scheduled pick-up time (as I was en route to the Hertz location) to let me know no cars were available. The part that was irritating was that he did not offer to help me find a new car to rent. He essentially said that no cars were available at their location or any other Hertz location and there was nothing he could do to help. Whether it's finding a car from a different location or helping me find a car at another car rental agency (even a competitor), the team should help their customers. I spent my entire morning doing damage control on an issue that was caused by the technology malfunction and could've been helped by the Hertz team. Extremely disappointed and will think twice about renting from Hertz again, despite the fact I normally think you guys are great.Reviewed Jun 8 2016

Cons:Initial car I was rented smelled of feces and further investigation revealed a brown stain in the trunk. Second car I was issued was clean HOWEVER the agent I returned the car to incorrectly received the vehicle resulting in both a late return fee and an extra hour charge, even though I dropped the car off a hour PRIOR to my agreed upon return time. When I called their location, the agent gave me a run around about a 24-hr billing cycle policy which is why I was responsible for the additional fee,and that I need to call back to speak with a manager. This is a poor excuse! When I reached Hertz's 800 number, the customer service agent was sympathetic to my experience and corrected the issue.Reviewed Mar 27 2018

Pros:Daniel was awesome. I didn’t realize this location closed early. When he going out I was going to be late he waited for me. The entire team at this location is 5 stars. Pros:The priceCons:I spoke to Hertz at 8am and 1pm to confirm my reservation and let them know I would be picking the car up close to 5pm, and a guy called me at 3pm to tell me they do not have a car for me. I was irate. He was very easy going and basically said 'sorry, my hands are tied and there is nothing we can do.' I made this reservation a week in advance, and paid in advance to be sure I would have a car. This was unacceptable. I eventually was put in touch with the manager at this location and he found me a vehicle (mid size SUV, not full size) that I was able to pick-up at 5pm. Mani was helpful and he did find a vehicle, but this should not have happened. Mani said that he asked the 3rd party rep to shut-off reservations a week in advance because they were not going to have enough cars. They had 70 reservations and only 40 cars available. Unbelievably badPros:Car did the intended job.Cons:From beginning until the end - troubles. First, renting the car at noon was problematic, because nowhere on the online reservation it was mentioned that the place was closed for lunch break! Thankfully, the guy accidentally showed up and showed some courtesy (didn't want to initially though). So almost missed picking up the car on time to be where I had to be. Then, the guy told me that I couldn't return the car on the 3rd day, because the place was closed on Sunday!?! Yet, that's what I had in my reservation and never was notified! He told me I could return it on the next day, but will be charged for an extra day! He changed the return location, which apparently also was closing at noon on return day. Then the car was dirty. Then the Hertz had 2 return location a block away on the same street, but the reservation record did not specify which one! Then went to one of them and they told me they didn't work on that day. I obviously guessed that must have been the wrong location! Went to the other 12 min before return time (and closing time), lady got the keys to inspect the car, and I just realized that I had forgotten to put gas. Well, there was an ARCO right next to that location, so I asked whether I could go there quickly to fill up. She said "Okay" so I went and in 6.45 min I was back. However, the representative was gone!? The office door was locked! Unbelievable!!! They had express key drop, but it indicated that would charge me for an extra day!! The total rent was supposed to be $94, and when I got home I saw they had charged me $169 in total + $295 deposit hold?!?! I couldn't believe it!Reviewed Jan 9 2017

Cons:The rental cars office closes at 12pm. We booked a rental at 12pm, but no one told us we have to be there exactly on time or earlier. We got to the rental station a bit after 12. Everything was closed, we had to get a rental somewhere else for a ridiculous expensive last minute price.
