We rented a car through Kayak and we were given a specific pickup location. We arrived by taxi at the pick up location and there was no business there. We went across the street and a business their helped us to figure out where we were to go. This was more difficult because none of your paperwork included a phone number to call. We were able to finally connect with Hertz and we were given a new pick up location. At that location, we were told that they had moved two weeks earlier, and had been contacting Hertz daily to try and get them to tell customers of the new pick up location. This cost us two taxis instead of one, and we wasted an hour of time and huge stress. All Hertz had to do was notify customers of the new pick up location. Very bad service. My issue was with the drop off. I hit a pole, caused a dent and reported it immediately. I have third party insurance purchased through kayak. Hertz immediately billed my credit card approximately eight thousand dollars for the repairs, However, they are not providing the itemized repair bill. Now the insurance is not paying and Hertz has stopped responding, and I still have a charge for 8 thousand!!!!Reviewed Feb 4 2026

I like that Hertz is pushing forward with AI and the contactless rental. I was supposed to be on the Gold Board, so I could just look at the board and go find my car. I checked in correctly and everything was ready. But the flight took off 4 hours late, landing at 3:30am -- after the FLL rental center was closed. My (and other renters') reservations disappeared. Thankfully, Hertz brought on a human a little after 4am, and they helped the line of waiting customers. Hertz was able to match most people up with the car type they had reserved. What disappointed me EXTREMELY is that Hertz KNEW some of its customers were coming on that flight that now landed in the middle of the night... yet Hertz didn't send A SINGLE TEXT after the one saying they'd text us 1 hour prior to landing. It's as if the Hertz system fell apart. None of us (who were already exhausted and confused by the car-rental center being closed) received a text confirming that a car would be ready, nor that they knew our flight was coming,... The pickup was very confusing. Of course they tried to sell us some insurance package without making it seem like it was an option which was annoying. But then the girl at the counter told me to head across the street and to level 2 where they would pull up the van. After walking myself, my wife, our four kids, and our 6 suitcases over we waiting for several minutes before I asked a lady at a desk where to go for pick up and she said to walk down to the reserved. So we all lugged our luggage and walked down where we did some more waiting and finally someone from another rental car company came up to us and checked my papers and said we were in the wrong section and to go back to where we were. So we did. Waited and waited over 30 minutes and asking the same lady several times who finally made a radio call and the van showed up 5 minutes later.Reviewed Jan 24 2026
