Poor service for a smelly carCons:Despite being the only person in the Hertz location, it took 59 minutes from the time I arrived for my scheduled pickup until I actually had a car to leave in. There was one person in the back cleaning the car and the guy up front doing customer service - he had to go back and help with the cleaning of the car. Then we did the walk-around verification and he was on a personal phone call the entire time. By the time I finally got in the "smoke free" car to drive off, the stench of stale cigarette smoke was sickening. I had no time to take the car back at that point so I had to spend the whole weekend with the windows down to not be ill. Upon returning the car yesterday the same Hertz employee was there and asked how the car was - I said it was fine aside from the overpowering stench of smoke in the "non-smoking car". He laughed and said "yeah, now I remember that cat reeked of perfume when it was brought in last week. We don't really pursue that stuff." Pros:I had to cancel and go elsewhere.Cons:1) Being told that the insurance goes through a third party and even if you cancel the rental you DO NOT get your money back!! That was bullshit! I am still waiting to hear from that company about it and it's been 2 damn weeks now. 2) Being told that you have to have a credit check to rent before they do it and drop your score down would have been good to know as well!! I ended up renting a car from Enterprise and I had NO problems! They explained everything up front and even gave me a discount because my anxiety was so high over the problems with Hertz.Reviewed Sep 23 2020

Pros:Will not attempt to rent from Hertz again. Hertz did not have the vehicle (or similar) available even though I had reserved and paid for the vehicle 6 weeks in advance. Hertz made no attempt to let me know of the situation - which they knew of well in advance. Hertz made no attempt to help me get the vehicle I had reserved.Cons:Herz could have reserved the vehicle I had paid for six weeks in advance.Reviewed Jun 15 2021
