Overview

In Hays, the Best Western Plus Butterfield Inn, Hays, Kansas, blends modern comfort with Midwestern welcome, with a warm contemporary design, a full hot breakfast, an indoor heated pool and hot tub, a 24-hour fitness center, a business center, high-speed Wi-Fi, and rooms with plush bedding, a microwave, a mini fridge, and a spacious work area. The setting puts a natural history museum, a frontier fort, and an aquatic park close by, with dining and shopping nearby. A Wild West festival and a campus Oktoberfest bring the town together. Hays grew up as a rowdy railroad and cavalry town on the western Kansas plains, its frontier past preserved at Historic Fort Hays and remembered in tales of Wild Bill Hickok. Today it is a university town anchored by Fort Hays State University, home to the Sternberg Museum of Natural History and its famous fish-within-a-fish fossil, set amid the wheat fields and big skies along Interstate 70.
