Very classy establishment
The Lord Nelson is an old fashioned classy hotel with modern amenities. We especially enjoyed the decor of the lobby and mezzanine, and the hotel restaurant which was in the style of a classic English public house. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very nice and the beds comfortable.
Parking was a bit expensive at $28 (CAD) a day, and getting to and from the parkade was a bit of an ordeal, but being right downtown these things are expected. Many more positives to outweigh this one minor negative.
Great service from the staff, rooms not insulated
The staff was great, excellent service!!
The insulation in the rooms need to be taken care off, the heater worked to much for a room of its size, near the window it was cold, and on the other side very hot.
first rate stay in Halifax
the hotel staff, without exception, were friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. What a delight !
The location and most staff were great. Food was good.
Rooms were not kept cleaned and aired, dust on floors was a bit tooo much. Training (front desk) and attire (restaurant) of staff NEEDS to be revisited urgently. For a hotel of The Lord's Nelson's supposed standing change should be readily available to its guests...I was told there was no change for a 100 USD! USD should be a currency you readily accept. If there is doubt about authenticity maybe a counterfeit machine should be employed at front desk. Train the staff. Have reliable tour companies on call for guests.
Enjoyable
Everything
I can not pinpoint anything that I can honestly say I disliked except I thought parking should be included in price.
Great value and service. Close to great places in Halifax.
Location is perfect, across from the lovely Public Gardens and within walking distance of downtown, university and harbor areas. Staff was courteous and helpful. Breakfast buffet was extensive. Hotel was very clean and beds were comfortable.
Quiet except for doors banging shut.
Cost of parking high.
Very comfortable, lovely atmosphere

Hotel was in perfect, extremely close, location to main shopping district, which was the main reason for our visit to Halifax.
We stayed in classic queen room, bathroom was very small.
Refurbished old Hotel across from Halifax's Public Gardens, comfortable and well appointed, with casual and friendly Maritime staff, central to the city's shopping and sightseeing.
No complaints.
The convieniance to shopping and close to downtown Halifax.
The room was not what I expected. I may not have seen the right picture on your site when I booked.
Very clean room , w-lan , good location, friendly staff
noisy rooms
Good location for where I needed to be.
We quite liked the fact that we had the fitness room for ourselves most of the time. The business center offers very good facilities. The beds were very comfortable.
Breakfast is not worth mentioning.
Great location, free high speed internet, large parking garage.
I had a small room with no view of the city.
The room was absolutely superb and well equipped. Very close to the heart of Halifax and mere minutes away from the water. Highly recommended for both business and vacation travel.
