The hotel was in a convenient location for our visit to the area to see family.
We were booked for two nights. When we checked in Friday night I pushed the door to our room open as I inserted the key card -- it wasn't latched right. When we returned to our room on Saturday night, the same thing happened -- housekeeping didn't close the door so the latch would engage, leavin our room unsecured. The hotel air conditioning failed sometime on Saturday, so by Sunday morning it was 78 in our room. The desk clerk offered apologies but no adjustments for the problems.
Racist Decorum and uncomfortable room
The greeting from the front desk and their polite response regarding their apologies for their inability to resolve issues beyond their control.
The amount of wall photos in rooms that were tributes to Confederate fallen, None were tributes to Union fallen. The owners and management promote the proudness of their confederate heritage. There is a time and place for everything. Personal life should be separate from business. There was inadequate heating in the room. No maintenance person was available after hours and on the weekend. Space heater was issued to compensate that produced dry air making the nights sleep uncomfortable. Other rooms were available but were not offered. Probably because 95% of the room doors had a 1" gap underneath the doors and with an open atrium it probably is impossible to maintain stable heating for rooms with the gap under the doors. Once we placed a towel across the bottom of the door. The room stayed warm despite the 28 degree outside temperature.
Badly in Need of a Makeover, now underway (Spring
Very convenient location (Starbucks, Chipotle, 1-95 right there) Suite style rooms Big atrium gives airiness to the public areas Very friendly woman at check in
Very overdue for a make-over, both in guest rooms and in public areas Makeover just begun when I stayed, May 2015; it holds promise but also means disruption and unattractive spaces for guests Will be affiliating with Comfort Inn; I'd stay there again after the transformation is complete but not before
Hotel was under major construction and was a complete mess. Dust everywhere wires running down the halls. Would never stay there again. Mislead by photos online and it did not say hotel under construction. Want my money back!
Not much customer service
It was a good price for a suite. The hotel looks nice. It is designed with open corridors overlooking an indoor pool and the lobby. I think it is an okay value for a one night stay but doesn't offer much for visitors staying longer.
The furnishings are dated, especially the tvs. The staff is very limited and I didn't find them especially helpful. I chose the Wytestone for the suite, the price, and the heated pool. My grandson wanted the pool. After I checked in, I was told the pool wasn't open. I had reserved the room for 5 nights but after 3 nights and several inquiries, I was told the pool would not be open during my stay so I told the front desk I would be leaving a day early. There was no apology and little interest. When my room in another hotel was ready, I checked out of Wytestone and was charged almost another full night because it was 3:00. Even though I was leaving early because their pool wasn't working and I had told them the day before that I would be changing hotels. The hotel we moved to was wonderful and I'll stay there again next visit.
