We thought breakfast was great... I had tea and toast but my friend had a full breakfast which was great...
Our first room in the stables was small and my husband is 6'4' but otherwise it was great. Staff were helpful and we moved over to the lodge and it was fantastic. We loved every mnute of our stay
The castle was fantastic; clearly a labour of love for the Barker family. Our accommodation was terrific and the views were super impressive. Lovely bed with great bathroom featuring heated floor which was very welcome. Would recommend the castle and the accommodation, just not the food.
The food was terrible. We dined at the castle and had breakfast the following morning and both meals were dreadful; bland and overcooked. Such a shame but I wouldn't recommend.
The girl we had on arrival was amazing, she was also our host at dinner. Her accent made the experience even glamorous.. This was such an amazing experience. It wasnt just a place to stay it was a memory I will cherish. We had dinner with some lovely scottish ladies, Australian couple and a local couple and enjoyed sharing stories and getting to know them. The room was heated on arrival and the view was worth every penny. The next day when we went to reception there were different staff on and they were not as inviting, informative or friendly but thankfully the experience the night before had been so wonderful we were still happy
The breakfast and dinner were fantastic. I highly recommend opting into the dinner, because getting into town and back up to the castle at night might be a bit tough after a long day. The room was warm and the view was amazing! Comfortable bed, nice bathroom, service-focused staff. Excellent selection at breakfast. Castle admission was a nice touch!
The price was a bit high, but "you get what you pay for" definitely applies! We had few to no complaints.
The modernised bathroom and breakfast was convenient and well cooked
The scent of the room and room feels dated. Would've liked more lights from the gate to the lodge.
