9,6 Excellent
Pros: The professionalism of staff, other than the cleaning ladies... the lounge manager and her team running the lounge area near the window seating who really looked after us with a delicious club sandwich, on arrival as we chatted to other guests as we waited for our room : the front desk team and concierge (v impressive awards and medals!) including David, our limosine driver who immaculately picked us up and welcomed us to our new life in Switzerland. This was excellent unpretentious and respectable service, throughout . Totally enjoyed our stay.
Cons: Dining options were limited, it being a Sunday but room service and lounge service more than made up for this. Food was excellent. Unfortunately, when we were taken to our room (I was on crutches, too) it wasn't ready. It was very embarrassing for the front desk colleague who accompanied us. The housekeeping ladies were having their own fun on their own time, changing bed linen, dropping it in passageway etc and not picking dirty dressing gowns, up.We sat waiting, next to them as a new room was being sourced that was ready. They carried on laughing and joking in their home language, right in front of us. I was appalled by this. It took us by surprise. It felt like they were working in a value level hotel. They seemed oblivious to the proud standards of the rest of the hotel team who were exemplary. They just stepped over things and carried on. First impressions were really not good at this point.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: It is my hotel of preference in Basel, I frequently visit, as it is my home town. SO I know all the alternative other hotel possibilities well. also as the Schweizerhof, due to it' qualities, including location and price for money is popular and often fully booked, that's it's only negative side, which is a very positive sign. If I didn't give maximum for comfort, it means not that I expected more, because the down valued their potential stars and can give this price/quality, because they renounce to have their own in-house restaurant but a bar and small menu card always available. There are plenty other eating options around the station and in the nearby center. s their breakfast is exceptional in it?s offer also of heathy and fresh products fruits, alternatives for people with. allergies it is a big plus of their quality. I sometimes postpone my Basel trips if they are booked or only most expensive room category is available and I have the possibility to modify. Hope other guests confirm my qualifications, butplease leave me a room...MArtin
Cons: Thatdue their qualities they risk to be booked, see above...a good bad quality !

9,0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, big room
Cons: Our room was at the lasr floor and the ceiling with gradient was rather unsafe
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The location could not have been more convenient to the train station. It was literally across the street. We walked downtown and was a very enjoyable, safe walk. The hotel itself was very good; the staff were friendly, room spacious, clean and up-to-date.
Cons: Did not like the price of the breakfast; so therefore, did not eat there. We traveled for 3 weeks thru Switzerland and Germany, and this was the only hotel, we did not eat breakfast.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was professional, curteous, multi-lingual, and the front desk was always staffed. The hotel was amazingly generous with coffee, wine and snacks available throughout the day and evening. I also had free access to a computer and internet and a quiet place to settle in and work near the coffee, wine and snacks. A variety of international newspapers and magazines were available as well. Within just a few hundred yards I found the Marketplace, filled with shops, restaurants, and an art museum with an impressive collection of impressionist paintings (my favorite) was also just a 10 minute walk away. Did I mention there was free coffee, wine and snacks?
10,0 Excellent

Pros: Bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was really good - tasty and good variety of foods (lots of healthy choices mixed with sweet options/ classics). Staff was super friendly and helpful.
Cons: The twin room was a bit to small for two people. There was no hot water in the room (only coffee machine), we had to go to the basement to make a tea.

Pros: It is a beautiful hotel in a very convenient location. The rooms are lovely. The staff are among the most helpful we’ve ever met. Breakfast was both delicious and abundant. There is also a very cosy and comfortable sitting area next to the breakfast area.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just perfect. The location for start, just outside the main station so it was really convenient. Just had to cross the road and we were there. Check in was perfect. Jaris was very professional and kind. He provided all the necessary information and also assigned us a perfect room which was really spacious and had a lot of natural light. The room was very clean, the bathroom was nice and large. Breakfast was very good with nice variety of local produce. Luca made the experience perfect as he interacted personally and made us feel really welcome. He also provided us with tips of places to visit and also marked them on a map for us. very helpful We really enjoyed our stay and was sad to leave. The theme of the hotel "arrive as a guest and leave as a friend" is perfect. we indeed made friends. And not to forget the 4 legged friend that our 8 year old son made. Really friendly and gentle. we would not think of another place to stay if we were to visit Basel again
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Staff desire to help, very good breakfast
Cons: The first room was uncomfortable and didn’t match the order, there was also very high audibility. We heard a neighbor coughing all night. But we kindly change the room for the next nights.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: From check-in to leaving, an excellent experience. Hotel is literally across the street from the train station. It's a nice walk to the old town area and the river. And a quick trolly ride back with the included free town pass. Room was large and well equipped. Bath was spotless, well-equipped and with large walk-in shower. Included breakfast was delicious and offered good variety served in beautiful dining room.
Cons: Nothing. This hotel was great.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The location was good and the staff very friendly and efficient. There was a Swiss restaurant next to the hotel which the staff recommended, and the food was delicious. The beer nice too. Läderach, my favorite chocolate in the world, has a location in the train station across the street from the hotel. Perfect!
Cons: The room was pretty small - which I selected because we only had a one night stay over. As we were across from the train station- which I also selected and knew in advance - the cable cars/trans kept coming and going late into the evening and again early the next morning. So, this is a pretty active area and a bit noisy.......
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is the cutest gem of Art Deco hotel. Lovely room. Superb location, just steps from the train station. Also! A FREE Airport bus pass made this a very pleasant place to stay indeed. Breakfast which is included was outstanding as well. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Warm hospitality from the reception and breakfast staff
Cons: Pillows a little soft but it is a minor comment

Pros: Location excellent. Breakfast n/a as we had breakfast in centre. Room excellent, large and clean, Staff also excellent.
Cons: None
9,0 Excellent
Pros: We were upgraded to a larger room free. The outside space was a lovely bonus.
9,4 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location within walking distance of the river for people taking river boat cruises.
Cons: We were in the new wing so there were many stairs to climb.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: This was a lovely hotel with very helpful and friendly staff, a comfy bed and a clean room. The location was ideal - walking distance to the Christmas markets and everywhere else we wanted to see (we didn't need to use any public transport or taxis other than for the airport) but far enough away that it was nice and quiet and a lovely place to come back to. We thought it was excellent value for money.
Cons: It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room to make tea when we wanted it - though the staff were lovely and gave us one when we asked for it in the evening. The hotel is also right next to a church, whose bells ring at 7am - we weren't bothered by this (and the church was directly outside our room) but if you're likely to be upset by it, then that's something to bear in mind.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fantastic, the staff very helpful and the rooms very clean and full of light. A huge bonus was receiving the Basel City Car which provides free public transport during your stay. I would definitely recommend Hotel Rochat!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: I stay at Hotel Rochat every time I visit Basel. I recommend it to my friends too. The location is just great

9,0 Excellent
Pros: The welcoming staff had all the basics covered concerning the area, transportation and best places to visit. The breakfast staff was quick to assist with coffee and beverages during the morning meal. The location was perfect for walking to the Christmas markets.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: It was in a good location. We had a corner room overlooking the city gate, so the view was pretty, but a bit noisy. The hotel was comfortable and the staff very welcoming. The only thing that needs upgrading are the towels. They were very thin and scratchy. Theven old town area was very charming, especially since we were there during the holidays. I would stay at this hotel again if in the area.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The location of this hotel was excellent. Opposite the Spalentor Gate, the west entrance to the Old Town, it was an easy walk to the city centre. The bonus is getting a free travel card as bus number 30 stops here and it goes every 10 minutes or so to the main railway station. The hotel rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is fine. The staff were exceptionally nice.
Cons: The pillows weren't very comfortable.

Cons: No staff after 10pm

Pros: Nice large room. Very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Great location. Included Tram day passes, but most sites were walkable. Convenient to riverboat docks.
Cons: It was noisy at night if the window was open, but quiet with it shut.

Pros: The hotel is not in the center but not at all far and in a good position to arrive by car or by public transportation. Once you have the free transportation card you can enjoy the city. The room are modern but not too much, comfortable and the bathroom is quite big. Staff is always available to help and kind. So in general I can suggest the hotel to others
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Cleaning, breakfast.
Cons: Slippers are not available in room. I can't charge my phone and laptop due to adaptor issues.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I booked this hotel after my flight was cancelled. It exceeded my expectations as it had a few perks such as a free Basel Card and 24 hour coffee bar. The check in was seamless and the staff very helpful. The hotel was spotless. The bed was very comfortable and they had in room coffee and fridge. There were a few restaurants nearby and we choose Italian which was very good. There is a large mall nearby however I wished I had the time to have visited it. It was a quick and easy walk to the tram which was free with the Basel Card. Only 4 stops to the Old Town. Very convenient. I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: No airport transfer. It cost 55 CHF to get to the airport at 5:00 AM. This was the only negative.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect, one of the best hotels I’ve ever been!
Cons: Everything!

8,8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is at walking distance from many historical parts of the city and public transport tickets were provided to us as well. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast offered enough options. The staff was extremely helpful and kind and always smiling.
Cons: It was mentioned on the property that there was a parking available, but that was not true. You need to park on the street and it is not sure you’ll find a spot. Our car was loaded for the trip, so we had to look for a surveilled parking somewhere else.
9,1 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean, comfortable, and had quite modern furnishings. Staff was friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast included with room.
Cons: Room was not air conditioned. Had to use a small flight of stairs to get to our room, which was cumbersome with luggage.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is spotlessly clean and perfectly situated in the Alstadt, a few minutes from shops, restaurants and trams. Restaurant Atelier serves traditional Swiss fare to a good standard. Our room was up in the eaves and whilst quite small was perfectly equipped. Basel is a fabulous city, clean, beautiful and with friendly people. We loved the New Year celebrations, music in the Munsterplatz at 11.30pm followed by a fantastic fireworks display at 12.30am. Don't forget your bottle of champagne! Thank you Basel for giving us a lovely and different New Year. We'll be back!
Cons: Nothing
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable and clean room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great mix of traditional and modern hotel: comfortable with a soul.
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is amazing. The room decor is very unique, artsy and fun. Between myself and my sisters, we had a total of five rooms and we were all visiting each other to check out how cool the rooms were. Each was decorated differently from the paint on the walls to the paintings on the walls and from the simple modern style bed to the more romantic style of chair. As I said, each room was different. The location is fabulous for walking around the old town and taking the metro. The metro is right across the street. One only has to walk out the front door, cross the street and hop on the metro. The hotel also gives you a metro pass which allows you to ride for free while you are staying in Basel at this particular hotel. I definitely would return and highly recommend.
Cons: Loved everything. They don't have to change a thing.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Very supporting and friendly staff, individual/personalized greeting card waiting in the room - nice touch. Stayed there twice now... will not be my last time
Cons: Car park is a 3 mins walk from hotel, but you can check in and drop your luggage first, so not as bad, considering being in center of Basel.

5,4 Okay
Pros: I chose this hotel because of the high rating. I was shocked. I am in a road trip in Europe. It was actually the worst! The only good thing that a mini bar was free.
Cons: We arrived late and tired, no body was there to carry the bags. No concierge!. We left the bags at the car. Parking is far and no body was there to drive the car or bring it back. As if it is a two star hotel!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location great, next to a tram stop. We found the Basel travel card that we were given on arrival was a great addition. Room were really comfortable and modern, I can't think of anything it was missing. Complimentary minibar access was also a nice touch.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent value for money, the staff was always there to assist us, clean and very comfort rooms and the breakfast was great, especially the homemade muesli!!
Cons: The location was not as centrally as our first impression was (we had to change 2 trams to get to the Christmas market). Claraplatz though is just a few minutes on foot!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I was impressed with this hotel. First of all I arrived at 10am and was informed by the lively red haired lady at the reception that my room was ready, so I was allowed to go in. That was very appreciated. I had a single room, and upon booking I asked whether they had rooms with baths (not usually the case for a single room) and upon entering the room...I find my bath :) Single room was perfect size with a free mini bar. Upon checking in I was given a transport card to travel for free (even to the airport if needed). When I was there it was raining and I found the additional umbrella (the big ones) to be very useful instead of the pocket umbrella that I had. Bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. Everything was perfect. Will surely return if I visit Basel again. Location is 4 tram stops from SBB train station and tram stops just less than a minute walk from the hotel. Inside they have a monitor to tell you the waiting time for nearby buses and trams so if t is too cold or raining you could wait at the hotel. The lady at check out (short bob hair) was so lovely and seemed genuinely interested in striking up a conversation. Overall 10+

6,7 Good
Pros: Location, staff very nice!
Cons: Price for upgraded room, lack of shampoo, breakfast not included except for first night, room for this “upgraded” price was small and dated. Can’t imagine what a smaller room would have been! Pros: Great price and great location..thanks for the free upgrade!!
Cons: The walls are very thin...There was a group of ladies in the room beside mine who were obviously having dun together long after midnight. Unfortunately, I had to listen...I should have knocked on the door and asked to join the fun!

Pros: It was like home. The host was very kind and informative.
6,7 Good
Pros: Location was good. Room size was good.
Cons: Room smelled moldy. Only one small window could be opened. Very noisy when other guests use common areas.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The Rhine and the city center is easy to reach, quiet, surrounded by a garden. The owner explains whatever you need to know about the city and gives you a map, and a Basel card, so traveling is easy. You also find brochures about museums. There is a coffee machine, nespresso capsulas, electric kettle and tea available.
Cons: There was no internet. In my room there was only a door to the garden (no window) so if you want to have fresh air during the night you need to open the door either to the garden or to the hall. Which was OK for me because I shared the ground floor with a quiet person.

Pros: Great host and very nice place. Quiet!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Clean, modern, good location, good facilities, fantastic host with lots of information, good kitchen facilities with free coffee and tea, comfy beds and a quiet location
Cons: No complaints other than i couldn't find the doorbell but that might have been my mistake, but owner responded to my email and met me very quickly to ensure my entry
9,6 Excellent
Pros: This B&B consists of only two rooms on the ground floor of a private house, but everything is brand new, there is a kitchen and a shower unit and overall the place looks great. A city card for free travel on the public transport is provided, Wi-Fi is fast and stable.
Cons: Because there is no formal check-in, you really need to inform your arrival time in advance.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: - Very charming owner. - Breakfast - Comfyness of the bed - Asked for second pillow - got one immediately without a problem - A tourist-pass with free usage of public transport and some tourist activities was included (unfortunately I couldn't use most of it)
Cons: The floor is very old and squeaky, and I felt bad walking around in the evening, 'cause it was very loud. apart from this it was all perfect :-)
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The place is amazing! It is located close to the city center and stops of the public transport. Very clean and comfortable (there is a good kitchen as well). And Adriana is a very nice person! She can help with everything and make your feel like at home!
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The check in with Adriana was very friendly and clear. She helped me with extra information on restaurants, tram + bus and jogging route. Breakfast was self help but ample choice and a good Lavazza coffee is a great start of the day!
Cons: as i'm sensitive to noise, the only disadvantage for me was the noise of the tram passing by so next time I will take some good ear protection.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect place with the perfect host! Awesome experience; I can not say enough about Adriana’s hospitality. The place is very clean & very stylish. I highly recommend this place!
9,2 Excellent
Cons: the floorboards are very noisy- which I hope didn’t bother the neighbouring room- i had to get up very early!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very acceptable - cereals, yoghurts, juice, fresh bread, cheese, one cold meat and cold boiled egg, honey and nutella and similar; coffee machine and large selection of teas, Gluten free for anyone who required it. Property only has 3 rooms so huge selection would not be expected. Owner Adriana delightful and very happy to offer access to food and hot drinks on arrival and also to store luggage on departure day, as well as to offer info about transport and the town. Very clean and good showers and bathrooms - 2 for the 3 rooms. Decor very basic but all that you require in the rooms and means that they are very easy to maintain. Balcony with seating for summer visitors - red squirrel visited during breakfast. Tram passes by outside - presumably a bit noisy for light sleepers in summer if window open - not the case when window closed. Very useful to have transport to town within yards and airport bus is 2 minutes walk away as well. Restaurants and cafes - good selection minutes away on foot and some shops as well. Town centre within walking distance.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room could not have better and the staff were very helpful.
Cons: The downside was that the room was very warm and the answer seemed to be to open a window which is a poor way to have a green focus. I expected a way for us to reduce heating and save energy.
7,9 Good
Pros: The location was excellent, close enough to Marktplatz and also to the train station. There is a tram station right in front of the hotel. Rooms are spacious and equipped with everything you need. Good coffee at breakfast.
Cons: Because there is a tram line right in front of the hotel, if you have a room facing the front of the hotel, you can hear the trams all night long.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the room ambience and quietness of the location; absolute privacy. Easy access to tram station! Housekeeping team was awesome - Water was refilled every day, cleanliness was great - housekeeping service was outstanding! Most of the reception staff's were lovely except for some grumpy ones...you know who you are!
Cons: I didn't like the breakfast - options was so limited. It was not worth of CHF27. I rather eat out ! My check in was rather late, I only got the room at 2.40pm which is 40mins late than the schedule. Absolutely disappointing! Worse part- no one can send the luggage to room?
