Cons: I am very unhappy with the insurance I booked on the website as I assumed I would be covered for emergency breakdown but Avis would not accept the emergency breakdown so had to pay again for that. I also already had other travel insurance so just wasted money
The policy is misleading
Pros: It was roomy and had XM Radio included. The seats initially seemed uncomfortable but I put 800 miles on it and no back pain. Gas milage was about 23 highway. Way worse in the city.
Cons: I would have preferred a Chrysler Pacifica but I guess those are considered premium. The windscreen cracked...IDK what that's going to cost :(

Cons: The car has serious problem. A bad noise was heard from tires. It was old (higher than 55000 milage)....I really did not like that car.

Pros: This was a great deal for what we wanted, and it was a smooth ride the whole way to our trip and back.
Cons: When we got in the car we noticed a smell of cigarette smoke. This happened before with other rentals after the person cleaning the car got out and the smell slowly faded away so we didn't think anything about it. But, to our dismay 9 days later we could still smell the smoke and felt like we smelt like a pack of smokers every time we got in or out of the car. Had to drive in winter with windows down to get the smell to kind of go away.

Car was less than basic, price was too high compar
Pros: The pickup and drop off was straightforward and the car was clean.
Cons: The car (a Toyota Yaris hatchback) did not have power mirrors or cruise control, making a long road trip a bit of a pain. The car was also not very fuel efficient, getting about 25 mpg on the highway. While I would be okay with this if the originally quoted price ($93.39 total, with an expected $13.50 additional for an extra driver) was much lower than what I was actually charged ($162 total).

Enjoyed great Employee's at Hertz CMI
Pros: Mainly the really great employees at the CMI airport location. Very helpful and went out of their way to help get a car ready for me. Got a nice upgrade due to issues with not having a car ready when I arrived. The car issue was higher management's fault and not the line employee - and they really did care and hustled to fix the issue.
Cons: Car was a fairly dirty on the outside, granted a white car in the winter, but apparently they don't clean outside of car before pickup. Also they did not have a car ready when I arrived despite an online reservation.
This was district level managements fault - and the local employees were able to get the next car to me quickly given the situation. Still had to take an extra hour than expected to get the car - this was in no part due to the local employees efforts however.

Good and bad
Pros: Overall feel of the Elantra was good. Comfortable seats. Liked the "blind spot" portion on the side-view mirror. The instrument panel was easy to read.
Cons: Outside of the car was dirty when I picked it up. Inside smelled like smoke. Not much get-up-and-go when trying to pass semi trucks. And, when I tried to fill the gas tank upon return, the tank wouldn't take gas. It was like the tank thought it was full and the pump would shut off. I gave up trying. The gal at the Hertz counter was very nice and did not charge me to have Hertz fill the tank. Also, I picked up and dropped off at an airport (Willard CMI) and had to pay for parking in the airport lot. It would be nice if Hertz (and others) would have spaces for those who opt to leave a car.

Hertz resold our PAID reservation!
Cons: We encountered difficult to avoid circumstances, and were 2+ hours delayed in picking up our 9am PAID reserved car from the airport in Savoy/Champaign, IL. When we arrived, we were told that all their cars were rented, including the car we'd already paid for. The Hertz employee was incredibly unpleasant, and went so far as to ask, "If you made an appointment with a doctor, would you show up 3 hours late?" (We weren't 3 hours late.) Such a ridiculous comparison. If I were late for a pre-paid hotel reservation, I would NOT expect that the room would be resold. The woman working the CMI Hertz counter on the morning of Friday, June 23 LOST ANY FUTURE BUSINESS I MAY'VE EVER DONE WITH HERTZ.
Cons: The car was gross inside and out. Cigarette ash and dirty inside. All the seats were stained and the trunk was full of wood shavings.

Cons: No one told us that 21 cannot rent a minivan. We wasted our time to rent this car. And i didn’t find how to cancel to reservation after the lady at the drop off location told us we can’t rent.

Pros: Fast and efficient service. Friendly staff. Excellent choice and condition of vehicles. The pick up location had a choice of vehicles we could take and when we indicated we have lots of luggage, the staff correctly suggested the Ford Explorer. Kudos to the staff.
Cons: Perhaps there could be a small map with arrows indicating the exact drop-off location. Sometimes Google maps will not bring you to the exact location but somewhere there and in a city like Chicago, you have to figure out the exact spot by going around in circles
