Not use Kayak or Hertz. Because I booked a car the same day I needed it, Hertz did not have any vehicles available for me - nor would they rent to me the price I booked. Hertz claims that third-party bookers do not have access to the local inventories, and that it was my responsibility to call Hertz directly and confirm the online booking. Total BS. Third-party hotel bookers have access to local inventories without problem. There is nothing that Hertz couldn't do on same day bookings that they don't do for advance bookings or bookings done 24 hours beforehand. I walked out angry 😡 and 😠 and four blocks to Enterprise, who not only had cars in stock but offered me a three day rental for less that the SVU Hertz was trying to pawn off on me. Shame on Hertz and Kayak. If you can't act jointly like a professional company, then Hertz should not be included on Kayak.

--instruction manual should be IN the car --remind the "pick-up" attendants to look at the person they are assisting in the moment --have "drop-off" office open on WEEKENDS. It's not fair to charge 2 extra days when the renter is late returning on a Friday AFTER 5:30 !!!

The team in San Rafael was very accommodating getting me into a great car last minute when Enterprise could not honor my reservation. They were sure to give me my options with limited inventory so that I could make the right decision for my one way trip. Great experience all around.

Rachel in Santa Rosa location was very friendly and helpful.I originally ordered the car to be picked up at Petaluma location. No communication was received regarding the change of pick up location.

Great longer-term rentalNeed a large vehicle for a month. Most affordable options were off-brand rental agencies with very old (10+ years) vehicles. Avis offered almost new vehicles at the most affordable prices if you rented by the monthCat wasn’t washed at pick-up but interior was clean.

The car was comfortable and dependable.I had to wait 2 hours to pick up the car as they didn't have any available/in stock. Bad communication between ordering online and reality. the clerk at avis was not expecting us at pick up time. He said we should have called to confirm.

Pickup was quickThe car only had 1/3 of a tank of gas at pickup. Very disappointing to have to get gas right away. Also, this is a way they get more money out of you by making you return it at an exact amount that is not full. The car smelled terribly of cigarette smoke and made me feel sick the whole trip. Pickup was confusing as I had 3 different addresses for drop off. I called and spoke to someone asking which address was correct and she was not much help.

We had to wait for a car. The car we got had the check engine light go on within the first couple of hours. Pack of gum under the seat from previous renter: how well did they clean the car?

Received booking confirmation, but there was no vehicle available.I was relying on having a vehicle, and at the last minute I was left with nothing. All they offered was the phone number of a rental place over 20 miles away. I will never book through carrentals.com again. Forget Kayak (the UI sucks anyway). Book direct, it’s the only way to go.

no on-site or street parking at location; had to leave my car about 1/2 mile away at a Home Depot lot. vehicle had a poor alignment and pulled slightly as well as having a vibration like a tire was out of balance.

Budget car rental was greatNo extra charges for pick up/drop-off at different locations in same area. No fee for wife to drive as well. Chrysler was fuel efficient and performed well. Overall, a very good experience

Good vehicleToo expensive for a daily rental. Additionally, I was overcharged when I returned the vehicle at LAX. I had to go to adjustment desk and have charges corrected reducing my bill by over $100. Not a positive experience.
