Location just out of the airport. Not walkable so look out for their shuttle transfer. Friendly staff and easy pick up process. If you book the basic package you may have to put down a larger deposit hold on your credit card. Overall, great vehicle and service for a reasonable price.

I recommend a smaller car in Malaga. The roads are tight and narrow and parking can be challenging. The smallest car you need to get by is the best option. That said, people in Malaga are great drivers, and despite renting a long and expensive car, we came out without a scatch.

To really listen to the navigation clearly. There are unusual circles where there may be an exit right before entering the circle where you could also exit right. It’s an unfamiliar driving experience so a heads up would have prepped me. Also would love a quick chart of the traffic signs of Spain to review.

Never prepay anything... Wanted to switch my reservation to my wife's name. Not allowed. They made me cancel my reservation and rebook in her name. $500 cancelation fee. Not really acceptable as she was standing right next to me at the counter. Just another b.s. fine print screw the customer situation.

There is construction going on in the Malaga airport and the signs leading to car rental are all incorrect. We walked all over the airport before finally seeing a van with the logo on the side and running after it and stopping it to find out how to get a ride to the vehicle location. Once we got there the people were outstanding. Walked us through our rental, the charges, what to expect, really all we could ask for. The vehicle itself was comfortable and drove well. The drop off in Madrid was ok, but there was some damage to the vehicle that we ended up paying for that we had no idea happened. I'm guessing somebody hit us in a parking garage. Oh well, not the rental car companies fault, but it did put a damper on the return process.

Nice car, but they try to intimidate you to buy their insurance or else you’ll be stuck paying hundreds of not thousands worth of damages. Although I said I bought insurance through kayak he made it seem like that wouldn’t cover anything and I would be personally responsible for all the damage.

When dropping of the car the person inspecting it didn’t read the report of the damage the car already had and charged me as if it was my fault. He charged me 400€ more. He later recognized he made a mistake but didn’t reimbursed what he charged. That’s fraud.

I liked that RecordGo were in the main airport terminal. The car was ready and reasonably new (around 20K km and with Apple CarPlay) and RecordGo said they were only interested in scratches of more than 4cm. No fuss, all worked well and I enjoyed several hundred trouble-free km in the vehicle. Drop-off at the end was equally easy.

Pick up process is incredibly complicated. They make you wait in queue to go up to the counter where they confirm your information only to be told to go fill in your document information at a kiosk. You then have to wait again to back to the same counter once you’ve filled all the information in. I did not like how this agency takes a fuel deposit, this was not mentioned anywhere prior to hiring the car.

The whole experience at Hertz was like a scam that I would have never expected from Hertz. Upon arrival we were told that there are 2 options: Option A. We pay more that 4x fold for the agreed price and have some insurance on the rented car. Option B. We have 100% risk for the vehicle, and there is no insurance or excess. (there was option C as well, paying appx. 2.5x agreed price with glass and tires insured, and "premium assistance service", BUT - still 100% risk for the car). There was no option to cancel... We ended up taking option A, which is essentially - "the client buys the car at full retail price (13k EUR) at rental and the company agrees to buy it back once the "rental" is over and in case there is no damage." Total cheating, done to a loyal Hertz client for 10+ years. I am not returning to Hertz again and suggest the others not to do that either. As for Kayak - please check what is being offered to the clients...

Be very careful on car rental pick up and return! We were charged 200 euros for the damage we didn't do! On car return in Barcelona airoport the Hertz employee just took the car keys as he was very busy, didn't check the car with us, we didn't sign ANY papers, and then 2 hours later we're charged 200 euros for the scratch that was already there! But initial car rental report shows the scratch in another place. We even have the pictures and video that we made on car rental day to prove that, but Hertz doesn't care.

Really pushy at the pick-up desk. Said that the insurance I purchased from Priceline wasn't valid and tried to sell me more insurance - really pushed hard for me to buy more. Then tried to sell me an upgrade that was 3x my daily rate, which was more funny than anything else. Rental car places are known for being a bit pushy and dishonest, but this was next level. I wouldn't rent from them again, and have been watching my credit card like a hawk for other "extra" charges.

Pros:

Super easy pick up at the airport counter then a small walk to the garage at the airport to get in the car and go. No pressure on buying extra insurance or upgrading.

Cons:

Over all one of the best rental encounters I have had in over 40 years.

Pros:

The staff was friendly, helpful and spoke enough English to help us through the process. Rental instructions were clear.

Cons:

We weren't sure where to drop the car off in the parking structure. We randomly parked it and told the staff where we put it. They were fine with that, but we should have parked it on -2 rather than -1...next time we'll know.

I reserved a car over a month in advance. When I went to pick it up, they said they had no cars available to rent. I’d say that is as bad as it can be. I was stranded in another country.
