When I went to pick up the car, I was asked if I had just made a reservation shortly before I arrived to pick up the car. I let them know that I had made the reservation over 24 hours in advance. It appears they were short on vehicles. I filled out the paperwork and waited for the car. The car was absolutely filthy inside and out. Bird droppings all over the car and very dirty otherwise. Inside was not much better and I myself had to take time to clean the inside. Hertz quality is apparently declining. They used to be the "premier" auto rental. I guess that is no longer the case. Sad. Very disappointed.

I rented the vehicle for a trip out of state. When I rented it, I called in to ask about the cancellation policy because there was a potential that the trip might not happen. I was told that as long as I canceled 24 hours prior to picking up the vehicle, there weren't any charges. When I had to cancel the rental, I was told that wasn't correct and they had to bill me $50. Sounds kind of dishonest to me.

Pros:

Drop off was on day office closed and was easy. Just write down mileage, date and time returned. .

Cons:

Office closed at 5pm and pick up was scheduled for 5pm. When I got there a little late due to lack of signage for pick up and traffic, they were closed and it cost me a day of vacation. No number to call or anything. When I called Hertz, it went to National line and they wouldn’t help me because I booked through Kayak. When I went the next morning to pick it up, I mentioned it to the counter person and she was rude about it and not concerned.

Pros:

Staff tried to accomodate but had NO cars!

Cons:

Seems the contract is only one sided. No car available! No message ahead of time to alert the customer of the situation. Even a Phone call would have been nice. Car was prepaid....I was the one left hanging. Told me to be in line at the door the next morning and for sure I would get a car. Next day 1.5 hours later I was driving away (13.5 hours after they reservation called for), How would you rate that? I would like to give a higher rating...but honestly can not. Was told to never use a third party to reserve in the future.

Cons:

Location was not as represented. Satellite location closed at five, website said eight. Management would not stay past 5 o’clock for any reason. As my flight information dictated I was arriving at airport at 4:30, had to pick up bags and get to satellite location within 18 minutes. Just not reasonable

Pros:

The car was fine and the price point was decent.

Cons:

Terrible rental experience when I went to get the car. I arrived with my reservation and they told me they didn’t have any cars available at all. I told them I had a reservation but it didn’t matter. None of the nearby Hertz had cars either. I had to wait over an hour for them to have someone return a car that I could use. They say they regularly overbook people, which means I can make a reservation and they still won’t have a car for me. I was very late for my plans because of their poor business model. Terrible experience
