I didn't know that the rental car would be on the French side of the Geneva airport. This was a major problem as I could not access it from the Swiss part of the airport without a boarding pass. I had to take a taxi to go all the way around the airport. It cost nearly 40 euros. A major, major disappointment. The lady at the check-in was wonderful. I think her name was Imen. She was so helpful.

Sixt website - incredibly clumsy & inconsistent. Prices varied by 50% within minutes of checking rates for the exact same vehicle class for same date windows. Sixt had 3 different reservations for me, each starting on the same date but ending on different dates <-see comment above- the website reservation process timed out repeatedly but seems to have retained incorrect information leading to multiple reservations. Rental agent apologized for issues, stating multiple customers had similar issues. Car was filthy on exterior, needed cleaning interior, windshield was very dirty. Sixt needs to invest time on theses points. I was told to make photos of vehicle when I returned the vehicle to ensure that Sixt does not attempt to charge for fictitious damage. Comment was made to me by the person in the car garage pickup area.

The car was great to drive, with some really useful features for a long road trip, such as the adaptive cruise control. It was also nice to have a manual transmission option. When I returned the car, the rep asked for a paper copy of the list of damages that was provided to me when I picked the car up, but I had only been provided with an email attachment. The rep at the return was ADAMANT that I should have a paper copy. Nope. Finally, Sixt's systems have been impacted by a security breach, and I still don't have a receipt, now three days past when I returned the car. That's an extreme situation, but what's not good is how their call centers are completely unavailable to respond to queries. I had to go to Twitter for more information.

Firts the background:- I usually rent cars regularly through Sixt (for a good 20 years) and experience is always excellent, this happens most of the times directly but also through 3rd party companies. This time I needed the car, only to go on a short trip and therefore I went on your website (kayak) to get a car that does that purpose and the rate shown by Avis was about a 100 U$ and most other companies charged the double if not more?! Accordingly I went to Avis and the team member that rented me the car was very convincing in her explanations..........and I signed the document (contract), for a vehicule costing nearing 300 Euros!?! I have not argued and I am now waiting for the final invoice on my credit card..........however the bottom line is that there are many AdHoc Fees/insurances etc....and that I will not use AVIS again or KAYAK.......as the technique used in that advertising is non transparent it included what we call in the business language...........Hidden Fees and in french Publicite mensengere....meaning false publicity. At the end of the day, I ended paynig an amount totally different from what was originally publicised ( and this was not upselling, it was non transparency to say the least). Larger 7 seater cars. There is no options for cars that seat 7 and have room for luggage. The cars jump to a 9 seater, which are very big and quite difficult to fit in many of the small car parks.

The original car you booked me, was on the French side of the airport. The French Avis counter closes at 10. I specified I was coming in after that. The system shouldn’t allow me to rent a car if it’s not going to be available. We had to then go to the Swiss side and pray that they had a vehicle for us. I ended up paying three times as much as I was originally quoted online. I never would’ve booked that. Had I known I was going to get screwed over. The vehicle itself once we got one was fine. The woman at the counter on the Swiss side was wonderful to deal with. But Avis should be ashamed of themselves for quoting prices that their counter people won’t honor.

If you are already in Geneva and you want to pick up a rental car on the French side of the Geneva airport, you can only do it with a taxi ride to that side. There are no buses or train that go on that side and you can not walk it. Otherwise it was good.

The desk was poorly manned, we had to wait an hour and a half after the previous client had waited two hours or more, or even closed on drop off. No parking spaces available, car not clean, badly damaged and not reported on pick up. Overall not good, stick with the Swiss side, after all of the extras and hassle on the French side, the Swiss is a much better prospect.

the car was good, clean and relatively new.

Cons:

the pricing policy is complete trash. i booked a car for approx. USD200 and ended up more than USD500, including all the fees, insurances, and surprise costs. Futhermore, I have been billed above the contractual fee, although I have returned the car undamaged, with very limited used kilometers (it was unlimited anyway), and a full tank. I'm going for file a formal complaint to recover these additional costs!

Helpful that the "Boss" of the rental agency did not park her personal car in front of my rental spot, forcing me to call and wait and wait and wait until she had the time to come and move her car allowing me to go on my trip 15 minutes later. I normally dread going to the sales desk at a rental car company because normally they try and sell you everything. On this occasion, europcar had all the info they needed, didn't try and sell me anything, had the right size car available and only required a signature and a swipe of my credit card. And the when I dropped it off the handover was seamless, the staff were friendly and didn't try to find an issue with the car so that they could charge me more money. It really was the best experience I have ever had hiring a car (apart from the overall price, but I understand that is down the market, not Kayak or Europcar).

It's been the 3rd week already and my money for guarantee haven't be released as they said. They told me that the same day that we will return the car the money will be on my bank account, which is totaly untrue. No one told us that Diesel fuel in French called "Gazole" that cost us many time and money from our vacation to seaching for a proper gas station. It is unnecessary to mention that no one again said anything about "adBlue". I leard about this is tricky thing from a friend and I manage to add 4 liters at the last mile before the car leave us for ever on the highway, PURE LUCK. Proper Thief Company for car Rental
