Derry has some rural areas with steep hills and winding roads, making a car with good power and control desirable. Additionally, Derry experiences harsh winters, with snow and ice on the roads, so it's essential to have a vehicle that can handle these conditions. A compact SUV with front-wheel or all-wheel drive would be suitable for these conditions, as they offer the necessary power and control in any weather.

The speed limits in Derry vary depending on the type of road and the zone you are driving in. In urban or residential areas, the speed limit is typically 30 mph. On main streets and secondary streets with higher capacity, the speed limit may be up to 40 mph. In rural areas outside of town, the speed limit can be up to 55 mph, while on highways, the limit is generally 65 mph.

There are both free and paid parking options available for Derry car rentals. In the downtown area, there is both on-street and off-street parking. On-street parking is typically metered and has a time limit, while off-street parking can cost anywhere from $0.50 to $1.50 per hour. Some convenient off-street parking lots to consider include the Municipal Parking Lot on Manning Street, which offers free parking for up to two hours, and the Broad Street Lot, which offers free parking for up to three hours. It is advisable to plan to pay for parking in some areas of Derry, especially in busy downtown areas, to avoid the risk of parking tickets or other violations.
