2018 Kia was a good car overall and promoted as much better than an older Volkswagon model.Cons:
CarsRental.com sold us prepaid insurance online for about $100 and then the local National office would not honor the insurance and charged over $50 per day for full coverage in Mexico, which we were forced to buy out of fear of noncoverage. Final charge was three times the anticipated amount for 5 days. Plus, lack of English speaking staff caused excessive mutual frustration and time in the office as well as having to call a cell phone to get staff into the office upon our return to Chetumal. We will now need to figure out how to get a refund for double insurance coverage through our credit card company. Next trip we will not buy coverage online and scour our personal insurance and credit card companies for rental car coverage.Hertz

When presented my credit card with collision coverage, Europcar staff told me that to make it valid I needed to have a letter of proof of insurance signed/stamped by some kind of Mexican authority.... really?? How they expect foreigners to get that?? At the end I payed double of my quote for all this tricks and hidden fees5,6 Fair

Chetumal is a small airport and the pick up drop off is convenient and easy.Cons:
Be aware of insurance requirements in Mexico. If you have a credit card that provides rental car insurance they will require a letter for confirmation from credit card company. If you do not have a letter they will not rent you the car without purchasing insurance. The cost of insurance depends on the value of the car and is minimum $200 USD. They do not indicate that in the listing or the general terms. You have to go deep into the T&C to find that.MEXRENTACAR
