We had high expectations based on the really high reviews. We were very pleased with this property overall but had a few things I’d wish I’d known beforehand. We liked their onsite breakfast - I’d definitely recommend including it which we didn’t. The location was very good although Budapest is a spread out city so it depends what you’re there for. I think our family would have preferred the castle district but that’s personal. The staff was very accommodating to our kids - offering the older ones suckers in the lobby (with our approval) and arranging a baby crib for our 1yr old and even leaving him a new toy to entertain him! The family room (2 rooms together) was incredibly spacious especially for Europe which was great for our family of five.
The beds were very hard but they can solve this if you request a soft mattress pad or different pillows - I wish I’d known that earlier in my stay. Although it is advertised in the room but I didn’t see it or know I would need it until after a horribly sleepless night. The staff although very friendly didn’t seem to know as much as we hoped in regards to recommendations or the things we were looking at. Or possibly there was a bit of a language barrier. The rooms are very plain as pictured and they had no hand soap which I found odd given the plenty of other amenities. Overall a good place to stay in Budapest with a family!
fabulous hotel in the exeptional Budapest
The location was perfect for our 3-day visit to Budapest - close to Vaci utca and a short walking distance from major attractions like the Chain Bridge and the Castle District. The staff at reception were friendly and efficient. Peter, in particular, gave us helpful advice and helped make our stay at the Zenit really pleasant. The room and bathroom were clean and well-maintained, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The floor of the shower was a bit slippery but they gave us a rubber mat which solved the problem. The buffet breakfast was fantastic. We liked that it included a selection of fresh vegetables, unlike in many European hotels. It also had a wide variety of breads, croissants, cheeses, pastries, delicious jams, and a chef preparing omelets to order. All in all, we had a great experience at this hotel, and recommend it highly!
Location and helpful staff that spoke English.
The location is perfect. The famous Chain Bridge is less than 5 minutes walk, The Vaci Utca is around de corner. A great place to stay in Pest. Subway station is within 5 -8 minutes on foot. Trams run along the river boulevard on both sides. The Market Place, the Andrassy Avenue are reached on foot. Breakfast were good.
I found the room pretty simple. There was no refrigerator. The temperature in the shower was not constant.
