Complementary local Sherry. Fully stocked mini bar.
Decor is a bit tired
Location ideal for attending Bristol Cajun & Zydeco Festival at the Folk House. Once I had remade the bed, I had a very comfortable and restful sleep. Glass of Bristol sherry a nice touch! Real milk for my "in room" coffee very welcome. Secure car parking. Being able to open my window!
Soap/bath & shower gell not provided. No bath mat onto which to step out of shower on the first morning. The "false alarm" fire alarm at 7a.m. on Sunday morning!
Hotel was well located and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Disappointed. Rooms are overpriced for the facilities on offer. Bathroom was very small and there were not enough toiletries for 2 people. There was a wedding on at the time (which we were pre-warned about) but this meant we had no access to other parts of the hotel during the evening of our stay and had to take an early breakfast (which we weren’t warned about until arrival) as the wedding party then took over the restaurant for theirs. No reduced price was given which would have been a nice touch.
the location is good, although it's an uphill walk there (near to bus 8 from train station). The room was good and staff helpful, although a bit "unpersonal". There are several restaurants in the vicinity, but I was tired the first night and ordered room service for the first time, in I don't know how many years. It was very good and not unreasonably expensive. Breakfast was very good.
The shower wasn't easy to understand, and why are the handles always so unergometically designed. Expected to only be used by strong, young men?! The restaurant was booked for weddings both nights and you did notice the not that sober guests. However, they were happy and once in my room I heard nothing.
Two out of three staff I talked to were very warm.
- The mattress was too hard. - There was noise from an adjoining room from quite early in the morning, and RnB music from about 9am - the sound proofing didn't seem very good. - No plug sockets near the head of the bed.
