The hotel was central and convenient for seeing everything. Everything you needed was in the room.
Having no lift
The hotel is basically rooms above the restaurant with no private lounge area. The 'hotel' is in need of a good clean and refurb, as the stairs, which are very long and steep, was very scruffy and very off putting. Although the bedrooms were clean and comfortable the ceilings and walls had suffered from a significant leak and were badly stained in our room on the top floor and our friends on the 1st floor. There was no secure area to leave our bags prior to check in and we were concerned about leaving them on view in the bar area which was close to the main door. The previous weekend we had stayed in Hotel du Vin, Bristol which is 4 star and was less money. It had superb furnishings, facilities and accommodation and was in a different league to the Lochfyne. Will certainly not be staying here again.
To many Stairs and no parking in Bath.
Only benefit was location.
Bed a extremely uncomfortable. Room was very basic with a lot of decor needing touch ups. Smelled of damp. Was very disappointed as I am pregnant and we needed some R&R from our children for my partners birthday. Toilets in main restaurant a disgrace. Toilet roll holders hanging off the wall. Toilet roll everywhere. Not cleaned. Lot Of damage to walls. Needs some serious TLC.
Excellent Loch Fyne breakfasts in the morning and more character than most modern hotels
Stairs were a bit of a killer, though we knew to expect that. Not the quietest, but probably to be expected given the central location
