It was dirty, It smelled, A/C was like Satan breathing on me. Staff was rude and not good at their job.
The hotel was extremely run down. They seemed to be in the middle of remodeling, but still quite outdated for the price.
The Red Lion Hotel historically had two towers of hotel rooms. For the past few months, a renovation has been under way, but most of that is now complete. Part of the renovation included taking the shorter tower and converting it to a Radisson Hotel, while leaving the Red Lion 12-story tower intact and doing some updates. The Radisson side in the lobby area is nicer. The two towers have separate front desks, but share other amenities including restaurants and bar, lobby shop, and business center. I stayed in a room on the 12th floor overlooking Cherry Creek Reservoir. The view was spectacular. The room was spacious, updated, and comfortable. There were six pillows on the bed with varying levels of firmness. Everything was clean. Some of the staff only spoke Spanish, but I ran into one of the supervisors in the elevator one day. Very professional. The free breakfast included both hot and cold items as well as plenty of fresh fruit. I chose this hotel because it has an Enterprise Rental Car facility in it, and there’s a van that shuttles to/from the airport. The car rental cost was about 1/3 of the lowest cost I could find at the airport. I would stay at this hotel again.
I stayed for five nights. One night, a family was staying next door and I could hear swearing, yelling and screaming, literally verbatim, from their side. The walls are not as soundproof as I initially expected. If you are driving, the directions to get to and from the hotel are a bit convoluted, but once you've done it, it's not a big deal.
The older toilets and sink had very low pressure. They did not restock tissue in bathroom. Ice machine on the 12th floor only due to construction. They did not give me wake-up call as I requested.
Policies vary by room type and provider.
