Overview

Aberdeen sits on the prairie of northeastern South Dakota, a hub town of the glacial lakes country known for pheasant hunting and its Storybook Land park. The Best Western Ramkota Hotel makes a comfortable base in Aberdeen, South Dakota, close to Storybook Land, the historic downtown, the regional events center, and the lakes and hunting country around the city. About 12 miles northwest of town, Richmond Lake Recreation Area wraps a thousand-acre lake known for its walleye and northern pike, with a swimming beach, boat ramps and kayak rentals, a lakeside campground, and a wooded Forest Drive unit laced with trails and a disc-golf course. Back at the hotel, comfortable rooms hold a flat-screen TV and refrigerator, with a free breakfast, an indoor pool, and meeting space on hand. Prairie lakes and pheasant fields, downtown Aberdeen, and the events center all sit close by. Settle in and let the glacial lakes country set the pace.
