Location was nice. You could see the matterhorn from outside the property (a little up or down the street).
Slept in a lot of hostels but none like this. Especially as it wasn't cheap! Bunk beds were creaky and cramped. There was no instruction to bring your own sleeping bag. There wasn't any one at reception when we arrived at 16.00. And they just left a piece of paper outside the front door telling me (and everyone) which room was mine. The room itself had no key for it, when we brought this up with reception the next morning he just shrugged and said it's safe enough here! He thought we were being ridiculous that we didn't trust leaving our things in our room...! With the noises of the property, we didn't sleep properly because the door didn't actually close properly, so we were anxious of other people turning up to sleep in the other bunk beds that were in our room despite it being a twin room booked. Being an old wooden building everything creaked. Our room was directly under the stairs to upstairs so was particularly noisy. It was also adjacent to the toilet so as you can imagine that wasn't pleasant.
A lot if misery, and bad smell.
Place was good for the money and the time we were there. If they would have let me bleach the showers It would have been better.
1.Location is near to the train station and shopping area 2.Basic overnight hostel needs available (kettle, cutleries, bowls etc) 3.Affordable compared to expensive hotels in Zermatt 4. Accommodated last minute added booking
1.The hostel receiving area is dark and not very well kept 2. Its a mixed gender hostel- wasn't indicated in the booking page 3.The music from the bar is loud even late at night 4. Staircase going up is steep, not conducive if you are carrying luggage; maybe dangerous if 2 are going up and down at the same time 5. Shower areas doesn't have space to put your things to change after
Tv room was great!
Not a clear kitchen area, but value for the money, can’t beat!
