Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is complimentary (available 24 hours).
9,6 Excellent
Pros: It was the most amazingly luxurious, beautiful, expensive hotel we’ve ever been to. The service was ridiculous (you could have a buggy ride to your room from reception, someone ran the bath for you) and the food was unbelievably delicious and presented beautifully.
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in Sankara for our honeymoon and everything was perfect. The staff was very thoughtful and kind during our entire stay (small cushion for my back, little gift at the end). They picked us up at Anbo and they dropped us off at the airport. The room was clean and spacious. The food was excellent (the pain au chocolat was delicious). We highly recommand this hotel.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place, amazing location, but most importantly amazing staff. It is expensive, but you could not ask for more.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything else: the staff was incredibly thoughtful and focused in making this experience unforgettable. The rooms were perfect and the breakfast was very good and riched. We fully recommend this hotel.
Cons: The hotel was a bit far from the main activities on the highlands. There are no restaurants at walking distance. Therefore you need to rent a car either by your own or directly to the hotel (which can quickly become expensive). Also the options for reasonably-priced food are very limited in the hotel, so you can feel sometimes a bit pressured to overpay your meals.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely magical place and 5 star service!! We adored this place and its very special and personalized experience delivered by the staff!! Exceptional

Pros: Amazing hotel, peaceful and luxurious

Overview Reviews
Enjoy your holiday on the island of healing waters and forests at the North American style pension La Isla Tasse
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I had a really nice stay at la Isla Tasse. The location is great, 10 minutes walking distance from the port, near some really good restaurants, bento shops and directly in front of the Ambo river. Also the room is quite spacious for a single room, there‘s no private bathroom but the 2 big bathrooms really make up for it (there‘s even a jacuzzi in each one of them!!). The breakfast was great, everything was spotless. But what made it worth the 10 is the great Miho-san who helped me as I checked in to order the rental car (which was then provided for me in front of the guesthouse), book some kayak courses, gave me advives on the trek and top things to do and she even drove me back to Ambo port after I checked out and so many other things, thanks again for you customer service it was fantastic :)
10,0 Excellent
Pros: - All the recommendations and help that provided me Miho-san, as well as her boss, were invaluable for making the most of my days staying at Yakushima. I immensely appreciate all the attention given. - The breakfasts were awesome. - All the facilities were spotless. - The room I had was quite big and very comfortable. - Regarding the location and some nearby facilities: it is just at less than 4 minutes walk from the bus stop which I used for going to Shiratani Unsuikyo and Yakusugi Land. Additionally, just in front of the bus stop there is a tiny shop that sells obentos in the morning. The rental shop for the trekking equipment is less than 15 minutes walk.
Cons: I have no complaints at all.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Miho's service and breakfast is nice! she will even drive you if you need to rent hiking equipment or go to restaurants! Of course the owner is also kind and helpful. Overall a great staying experience.
Cons: none.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very hospitable from Miho and her boss, and introduced very nice restaurant for the dinners. Do us great favor for travel guild.
Cons: The big bed was made up by two small beds, not comfortable for 2 adults and 1 child.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very european house, lovely decorated and a really nice garden directly facing Anbo river. Miho is the perfect host and serves probably the best breakfast in Japan.
Cons: Very slow internet
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful dining rand common areas in Europe style. Room with lake view. Big and well equipped common bathroom with Jacuzzi. Tasty Japanese breakfast in just right portion and variety. Friendly and helpful owner on activity advice and dining. It is a stylish and outstanding building by the lake.
Cons: A little pricey
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, comfortable and quiet. Miho, the host of the property, was exceptional. She went out of her way to ensure my stay was perfect every way.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The owner is helpful. He provides me advice on the trekking, and helps to order lunch box for me. The breakfast is very nice as well. It is a traditional Japanese breakfast, which is the best to start a whole-day hiking. It is clean everywhere.
Cons: Everything is good, none.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: The owners could not have been friendlier or more welcoming for our one night stay. Though there was a bit of a language barrier (they don't speak much English) they got us situated right away, drove us to the bus office to buy a bus pass, and recommended an excellent sashimi restaurant within walking distance. Our room had an excellent view over the Ambk river and my mom and I slept like logs to the sound of lapping water. Divine! It was nice being right in town and would definitely go back if we return to Yakushima. Also I highly recommend springing for the Japanese style breakfast in the morning. It's a great deal at 500 yen.
Cons: Since the bathroom is shared (we didn't know that) there is some noise from other occupants coming and going down the hall at night. Not a big deal though and part of the program with a b&b style house.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The host is very friendly and nice! The breakfast is very delicious! The room is clean and tidy.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Miho is the host of your dreams, can't get any better than this. She helped me to book a rental car (car was at the door next morning), recommended restaurants nearby and even drives you there if the way is too long. Additionally the breakfast is awesome, you should definitely choose this option. House is close to Anbo Port and with a rental car you can easily explore all of the island. Communication is easy and Miho is a genuinely nice person, highly recommend to stay at Miho's place.
Cons: My stay was too short

8,8 Excellent
Pros: 1. The host is an old couple and they are so nice in introducing us about Yakushima (the popular restaurant nearby and the hiking route). Despite they can’t speak English, they used translate app to communicate with us. 2. The room is equipped with private shower room which is very rare in Yakushima. It is clean and tidy. 3. The homemade Japanese breakfast was so nice and the dishes changed everyday. 4. The location is so convenient with free parking space. Supermarket is just 1 minute drive away. 5. 9,6 Excellent
Pros: You know from the drive up to the hotel that you are arriving to something special. I will keep it short - we had an excellent 3 night stay at this resort hotel. The staff were extremely attentive to our every needs - the chef whipped us up with delicious vegetarian meals that were pictures (we did not stop taking pictures of the dishes we were served). We asked for directions for a recommended site on the Island - the following morning we were given a satellite picture of the site with exact directions. Just a few examples. The Hotel grounds are beautiful and do not miss the waterfall about a 20 minute walk. The bedroom was very lovely with comfy beds, linens, towels - modern, light and clean. The view (either side is amazing). Dining room is very nice and so is the spa , lobby and other public areas. Nice farewell from the staff to end this lovely memorable stay.

Pros: Good and peaceful environment
Cons: Remote from city

Pros: Super helpful staff, very efficient! Onsen is very good, room very comfortable. The hotel has a huge, beautiful park. The bus that goes around the island stops at the entrance of hotel, very convenient. For early trekking, they can replace breakfast with a packed breakfast+ bento lunch. We could rent electric bikes for a nice ride along the coast.

Pros: Silence, vast rooms, restaurant
Cons: Nothing

Pros: A very comfortable hotel.
Cons: It is very clean. The room is big and comfortable.

Pros: The hotel has a good location. We used the public transport with daypasses and it was easy to reach every point on this beautiful island. The two english speaking ladies at the restaurant service were very friendly, helpful and informative. Would advise to offer them a job at the reception. Excellent Breakfast.
Cons: Only one lady at the reception spoke English
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Bath with view. Location close to some wonderful restaurants and cafes . Lovely sauna and onsen . Kind staff.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The staffs are all very helpful and provided and very accommodating to provide assistance to us, they did more than we expected (compared to other hotels in Japan) - from the front desk, concierge to the restaurant ....thank you for the great stay we had
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The location was five mins walks from the port which was great for leaving luggage, and was two mins walk to two bus stops and a supermarket if you needed. The standard twin room had an absolutely stunning view over the ocean (only slightly impeded by the newer hotel block below) with two large beds and ample space. Most of the staff were very kind and helpful. The spa was lovely and modern and razors etc are available if you ask. General amenities all good and readily available too. Easy check in and out process. The view made it worthwhile.
Cons: A bit tired and too expensive for what you get. Breakfast was as to be expected for an included buffet, nothing outstanding just very fresh and a large variety.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Responsive staff to our questions before arriving. Thank you for understanding our situation and making adjustments as necessary. We stayed in the new deluxe wing of the hotel, which on their website is rebranded as a separate hotel (it should be in a different star class). Terrific views of the sea, clean comfortable rooms. Much better value for money than the most expensive hotel option on Yakushima.
Cons: Some of the sashimi didn't look that fresh.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place. The owner was very kind and gave us recommendations for places around Yakushima (just a note: because we can speak Japanese, we could communicate in Japanese, so I’m not sure if he could speak English). The toilet and bathroom were very clean, and there were always clean towels provided for use. Nice hot water (+ a bathtub). 10/10 would recommend this place and will definitely come back when visiting Yakushima. Just a note for Yakushima: if possible, rent a car - it’s much more convenient; if you hate spiders - beware, there are tons of spiders and spiderwebs all around the island
Cons: Everything was good. Though, if you don’t have a car, it would be quite far from a supermarket/restaurant
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Daichan is the best. He told us everything we would ever need to know about the local hikes, roads, beaches, onsens, resteraunts, and everything else. We felt that he genuinely cared about us and our wellbeing. Not only did Daichan give us a place to stay, he gave us a story that we'll all be telling for a lifetime. Make sure you bring a beautiful woman!
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The yurt was very roomy and the beds are hard, but comfortable. It's really pretty quiet too considering you're right near the road. At 6 am every day some musical alarm goes off so nobody is allowed to sleep in. You won't want to anyway. There's so much to see on the island! There's only 2 toilets and one shower but only 2 yurts on the property so it was never a problem. The owners are very kind and helpful. At check in he gives you his life history via google translate but otherwise they're very nice. One night he drove us to town for dinner as it was pouring rain. For the rest we walked. We had a rental car but driving at night on the wrong side of the road for us is very stressful.
Cons: Access to a kettle to boil some water would be nice for coffee in the morning. He brought us hot water at night but it was too cold by morning to use for coffee.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: These yurts are super comfortable and have everything you need. The owner must be the most hospitable person on the island. He guided me in, gave me tea, baked me sweet potatoes and told me to call him any time I needed to go to the shop so he could drive me. All will little to no English and just a translate app. Really unique setup and I would highly recommend it.
Cons: I have no complaints, but will advise that the toilet and bathroom are in separate buildings to the beds, in case that bothers anybody.
5,4 Okay
Pros: General feel of the mongol hut. The value.
Cons: The cockroach, the loooong check-in, the global confort.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Staying in a tent offered a very adventurous but still luxurious experience. The owner was very hospitable, helping us plan our hikes and driving us around to get dinner. His sense of humour made the stay especially memorable.
7,5 Good
Pros: The host was amazing. He provided suggestions for places to visit, maps, and directions. He even brought us popsicles and drove us in his personal car to an amazing onsen.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Host at this property was absolutely amazing! He cared about me literally all the time while I was accommodate there. Even though that he doesn't speak English and he communicate only via Google translate, he will help you with everything. Like travelling around island, with trips. I visited one onsen and he recommended me shortcut how to get there, which was very helpful. As he is local he knows everything about island and how to avoid some payments. Also that place was very clean, good WiFi connection and my host every day prepared for me boiled water
