Pros: Breakfast was great. Costs €12 but worth it. The breakfast room is so beautiful and serene. We were offered a welcome drink in the lovely and quaint lobby lounge, a bottle of water in our room and a bowl of small chocolate bars at the front desk for when you come and go. The location was good and walkable to all the sites. The bridge area with the view of fortress was my favorite and close by. Staff was very helpful and parking around the corner. It’s a very historic hotel with lots of character.

Pros: Smack in the middle of everything - old town is just next door and the train station is only a 5 minute walk. The hotel is gorgeous and family-operated, a refreshing anomaly in this day and age. The rooms are very large, especially by European standards, and very comfortable. Great bed, great shower, great little living area. Long story short: this is my go-to place in Würzburg now.

Pros: Excellent location, within walking distance of all the main historical places, except for the Marienburg Fortress. However, the culture tour bus, no. 9, stops right outside the hotel entrance, and this goes up to the Fortress. There are lots of excellent places to eat nearby, with a variety of restaurants appealing to virtually any culinary taste. The service was excellent. Our room was ready, and we were given a free welcome glass of Franconian white wine each. The buffet breakfast was fine, with a full range of fruit, juices, breads, cheeses and cold cuts, as well as boiled eggs and excellent coffee. A variety of teas are also available. Our room was smallish, but entirely adequate for two people for one night. The entire hotel is clean and well-maintained. We'll definitely say here the next time we visit Würzburg.

Pros: Fabulous location and an overall beautiful hotel. This was such a delight to stay in for my birthday with my partner! Our room was lovely, light and airy with lovely decor (just to my taste) and very comfy bed. We had three windows in the room which we thought was quite rare and a nice aspect of the room, alongside the bathroom and shower being very clean and well facilitated. We were greeted with a free glass of wine and were able to sit in the lavish reception area. Very relaxed and kind atmosphere in the hotel, and we felt like nothing was a problem for the staff. Fantastic value for money and a real pleasure to stay in.

Cons: The only possible complaint is that there is no air conditioning (which isn't that unusual for Europe) but as we were there on one of the hottest days ever, they brought us a Dyson Blade fan. Still a relative win.

Cons: The room had lost its charm as an attempt was made to remodel, but the furniture and light fixtures seemed to be all poorly painted in white taking away from the antique look. Most of all, the receptionist was unwelcoming. The entire surroundings were unwelcoming. It took us all morning to find a cup of coffee. The bakeries’ employees seemingly ignored us. Again for dinner, the waitress was all giggly with the locals and emotionless with us. Also, our wait service was poor. We had stayed in several wonderful booking.com places, and Würzburg was the worst stop on our visit.

Cons: We were disappointed to be located in the new building, in a very basic room more like a premier inn than luxury hotel. During our stay we were also surprised by the poor service we received. It wasn't that the staff weren't polite, however they were so over stretched waiting times to be served both at reception and at dinner were not acceptable. There was no bar open, even when we asked they informed us they wouldn't be opening it as we could sit outside, we tried to explain waiting staff were over stretched.

Cons: The white house wines were all local, none pleased me. Seems Rhine wines are off limits. The Italian red is the best choice. Internet was spotty. Quite a few missed connection (Lost internet). My GPS did not find the #2 of that street, but enter anywhere and you'll get there.

Cons: Neither friendly nor welcoming. Staff were not actually rude, but had not been told to smile, evidently. (Dinner waitress an exception). We saw no other children in the hotel and they seemed not pleased to deal with a family - most of the guests looked very corporate, very wealthy with a fair number of businessmen and "nieces". The other guests were even less friendly than the staff. At breakfast we were simply ignored - had to get up and grab hold of someone to get coffee, and while all the other tables seemed to be having sparkling wine we were never asked/offered. We asked for drinks on the lawn outside the pool while our son was swimming, but was told this was not possible as no glass was allowed near the pool. But there were plainly uncollected dirty wine glasses and tumblers in the pool area itself. But the biggest problem was no air conditioning in weather than got extremely hot - 37C daytime and not much cooler at night when we were trying to sleep.

Cons: As I arrived a whole bus was blocking the parking (Driver was from Austria and said he is making a break now, then drove off after 10 minutes). I got an old 1960s looking "Appartment" whose door opened directly on the said parking. My car was 3 meters away. Entire furniture, except for bathroom was very very old and smelly. Spiderwebs in corners. This is not what i signed up for, and not the photos i saw on booking.com

Cons: At check-in we were told to go to a room which we found out had just been given to the customer who had checked in before us. So we tried in vain te open the door and disturbed this gentleman. No excuses were made, let alone a compensation offered for the lost time and inconvenience to him and us. No water kettle was available. Location between highways and offices is not very attractive.

Cons: You have to pay a membership fee 3,5 eur/night for the youth hostels association at the check-in. Not a good surprise for budget travelers, and it was not mentioned during the booking. There is no wifi and no aircon in the room. There was a lot of dust under beds. There is no laundry in the hostel, but you can use a public laundry located 15 min walk away, for only 3,5 euros.

Cons: The staff member who checked us in was quite unhelpful and offputting. At check in we asked about parking. The staff member said they have none and you must find it yourself. Directly after me came 2 young German girls and asked the same parking question in German and got a different answer, which was a suggestion of two different parking places they could look for parking at. In addition the same girls also were informed that there is free cake and coffee in the lobby. None of which was shared with my party. FYI you must be a youth hostel card holder to stay here. If you are not, expect to register for an annual membership fee on your arrival. I did not have this on my arrival and the staff was fairly Abrasive telling me I must have it to stay there. Luckily there was another staff member aside from the one that was checking us in that just suggested we could fill out the forms and pay 30€ and join. The first person checking us in gave us no alternate options other than saying we must have it and if we didn’t we couldn’t stay there ! :/ as if we should figure out the next step ourselves, instead of offering an easy solution.

Cons: There is one thing that could be improved, but I'm not sure how. We realised we were lucky two out of three times to find a space in front of the hotel and the third time we didn't have too much luggage, so we parked further away, but parking is an issue. I understand the hotel is offering vouchers to a parking located 20 mins away by walking which is fine should the weather allows an enjoyable walk. Again, not sure how this can be improved, but don't let this putting you away, there is some parking just 3 minutes away but only allows low height cars (mine has over 2m and was forbidden).

We also had lovely breakfasts included with our room and the staff was very attentive. We had a wonderful dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was very good. Our room had an amazing view of the Marienberg Fortress. A little farther from the train station but we took taxis back and forth when we did day trips to Bamberg, Nuremburg, and Rothenburg ob Tauber. Front desk staff must have the taxi service on speed dial because we always had a taxi within 5 min! I am sure there were local bus or tram nearby that go to the Bahnhof. Overall, I would stay there again in a heartbeat in a river view room!!

Cons: It claims to be breakfast included in the room price on booking.com (or at least it is filtered as such) but had to pay extra for breakfast. When I asked the receptionist about these charges she was very unhelpful. My colleague had to pay twice as much for breakfast because he had a double room. Again when I spoke to the receptionist about this she said this was because I had booked the room for two people (I had not). She refused to refund any of the money spent in breakfast.

Cons: There were about 10 stairs up to the reception area. Tough if you have multiple bags. No air conditioning and NO ice. When I asked the receptionist for ice she didn't know what it was. My room faced the train station and busy street. Noise from the street continued to ~0000.

Cons: At the backside of the hotel they were renovating. As a result there were scaffolds at the backside. Because of this we could not make use of the balcony, while the temperature was quite high. Worse, next mornig there were workers at the scaffolds, making a lot of noise and looking into the room. Very little privacy as a result. Very bad we were not informed about this situation. You do not put guests in such a room

Cons: The rooms were small and hot, no air conditioning. The street side was noisy because of the traffic, in the corridors you smelled the drain. At the breakfast milk, yoghurt and water were in room temperature. The quality-price ratio didn't quite encounter.

Pros: The beds were really comfortable, also the staff was nice.
Cons: This was a bit my fault but I didn’t expect the shower cabin to be in the middle of the room, that was kind of strange. Also it was quite loud outside at night.
