Really close to the steam railway, in fact we had a great view of it right in front of our window. The room we stayed in had an good sized en-suite. Breakfast was lovely, and the beverage railway was a delight!
Our room was in the attic and was the only room up there. It was quite unnerving when we approached it, as we had to walk up a very dark staircase to get to it. I would have been nice if we had known it was an attic room, especially seeing as my partner has a knee replacement and does sometimes struggle walking up stairs. The only other thing I would say is that we didn’t realise we had to pay a special tax which came to about €12 when we checked into the hotel. We ended up having to pay by card, which required an additional charge for an overseas transaction, because the hotel hadn’t previously warned us and we had no cash to hand, so a suggestion would be to make any taxes like this clear to people booking online. We are English, and there were very few English speaking staff which made checking in and ordering dinner a little tricky!
This old half timbered building and the adjacent house now make up a fun railroad themed hotel just across the street from the narrow gauge railroad yard. In their restaurant drinks are delivered to the table by a large scale model train and the rooms have photos of trains on the glass doors between rooms in the suite we occupied.
Great for railway enthusiasts - good view of the steam engines from the dining room and the miniature railway in the bar was fun.
The weather was too hot to keep the windows closed so we had to endure constant traffic noise during the night.
Excellent hotel with very friendly staff. We are not "ferro sexuals" (train spotters) but we never the less enjoyed to old steam engines and the general theme of the hotel. We had a wonderful studio with enough space for the five of us.
The hotel is wonderful but I would not return to the restaurant. The food is OK but there are better choices nearby in the town centre. The parking is not sufficient but we managed to squeeze the car in.
The location was good.
You were forced to register and pay a city tax. We were given a book of coupons for businesses in the area. The hotel had coupons for both the hotel and restaurant but they refused to honor the coupons. I hate being jerked around. Will not stay here again. My companion was ill after dinner and the next day due to the pesto being rancid.
